4. You never heard of a bike called Fury?
It was a bike launched by RE in the late 80's... its actually a Zundapp KS175[ Kardan Sport 175 ]Originally posted by yamdoot View Postu sure do talk funny!! really surprising uve not heard of the 'fury' considering u are from chennai which still has quite a few good examples movin around!
Honestly speaking, no i have'nt seen or heard about the R.E. Fury, will check out about it now
I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

The fury was a bike ahead of its time.. Being a two-stroke, it had around 17Bhp on tap plus Alloy wheels and a huge 285-290mm solid Brembo disc brake.. the rotor has a thickness of 6mm where the normal indian bikes' rotor has a thickness of 4.5mm only..It had large engine fins for better cooling and 8 cylinder bolts[ standard is 4].. but it died too young due to lack of spares and RE's poor marketing and service backup.Last edited by Arun Cheloor; 10-06-2008, 02:46 PM.Jawa 250 1970

arun, so your dogged perseverance for getting the fury disc set up on your rd paid off! But is the real life perf with the effort? As you said the rotor is thicker but wouldnt have a more contemporary set up been better? Of course it wouldnt complement an Rd in such an exotic way as the Fury disc!RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!

Fury wheels + disc assembly looks the sexiest on an RD. They look like they were made for the RD as OE. Nothing can come close to it.sigpic

yes Joel, but the Fury alloys have a prob.. the rear drum is too weak for an RD.. if u have dual disc up front, the rear drum is ok..
@Titus, you buggar... where are you? how is renjjie? Ebin used to contact through Orkut.. Vinod used to call.. and oh.. our Hari has gone out of state.. i think to pune..Hmm.. you got a new helmet? which one?Jawa 250 1970

The rear drum needs some tweeks to make it get a better bite. Else just make a rear disc contraption. Works the best. A dual disc on an RD will increase the unsprung mass like crazy. Not worth and not needed.Originally posted by Arun Cheloor View Postyes Joel, but the Fury alloys have a prob.. the rear drum is too weak for an RD.. if u have dual disc up front, the rear drum is ok..
Hmmm, never knew trichur was pretty decent with such bike works too. My dads place

Yea.. welding is the key in all disc set-ups man.. get a proper tig welding done by a professional. Yea.. even i thought of getting the OE Yamaha cdi.. i heard Sumeet ,the famous tuner up north has the stocks.. probably, some senior members like Rajat might be able to help you out.. Rajat had once given me his numbers too.. If ur on a budget, you can seek the help of atul_astro too.. he can provide you a nice kit i believe.. im planning to get one from him including the 90/100 Kit.Jawa 250 1970

hey arun
firstly, congrats on the disc setup..it definitely looks hot and plus the two pot pulsar unit must be working well, and trust me its way economical to maintain as well
truly said, they key factor in making a disc setup is the welding..a little mess up here and there and it can bugger it up royally
again, thanks a lot coz you gave me credit where it was due, which is why it feels good to work for fellas like you
for the rear drum brake on the fury, yes its kinda weak but as joel said, a few tweaks can make it all good..starting with giving the drum liner a good rough finish, checking for scratch marks, gashes, and a surface thats too smooth...nothing a good emery paper session cant cure
a disc brake contraption for the rear shouldn't be very expensive, provided you can get your hands on a single pot fury caliper..I'd suggest making the P220 units work..coz they run excellent box section swingarms too, and those can be plonked on the RD chassis without much effort..and oh yea, they're availible and cheap
the rear disc on the P220 is nothing but the front disc that came on the earlier generation pulsars till date..the caliper and mastercylinder and lever unit comes cheap too..swingarms shouldnt be difficult to find...only expensive conversion here is getting the pulsar 220 rear rim and the tyres; also im not sure of what sprocket and chain we can run on those
hope this helps
cheers
ps: lemme know when you want me to send over the CDI kit arun...I've kept it ready long time ago..I've kept aside the Nippon rotor for you
