yea.. will do that.. but my mech suggests the power drop might be due to less air coming from the air box to the cylinder. due to the bigger pulsar battery im using, the opening on the air-box lid is almost in a blocked stage. so, he asked me to ride it without the air-box cover. i did that. Still im not getting power as earlier. is it safe to ride like this? or shall i put in a new filter with some air-holes on top of the cover? im confused with this sudden drop in power.. and oh.. he claims he has not changed the old jets that time.. will have to check that first. lemme see..Jawa 250 1970

I rode the bike without the air-box cover..[ with the filter].. when i was in town, it stared raining again..Originally posted by atul_astro View Postits surely your jetting ..try riding the bike without the filter and temme how she behaves
this time heavily though..
water soaked the paper filter..
i had to rode her back home.. removed the filter & let it dry.. i have a new paper filter with me now.. even though there is diff. in performance, its not matching the earlier speeds.. infact im not able to open her up fully.. will do that with the new filter.. lemme see wots inside the carbs first.. 115 or atul's 200

Actually, it was a mistake.. it was supposed to be the 140s.. but it was from Keihin.. so, its equal to the Mikuni 200 as per Atul.. dont know.. will check the plugs and carbs .. and i want to put in new plugs too .. im looking for Mico W5BC plugs.. im running some cheap plugs nowadays.. it looks like Irridum plugs though [with 3 electrodes].. but its too cheap.. my local mech put in those crap without my consent..Jawa 250 1970

haven't installed those plugs yet.. good thing is that they are original japan made ones. Yes, running too much 2T oil premix can be harmful too.. i used to add 50ml/ltr.. to reduce heat.. nowadays running with 30ml only
My problems got solved to an extent with the carb & exhaust cleaning and the air-box cover fixation in the right direction.. earlier it was getting blocked. Now, i should fix my speedo.. after the disc conversion & new RE speedo drive/gear installation, the speedo meter never comes to zero. its stuck @ 30km/hr mark & then moves slowly upwards. any idea guys? wot went wrong with that?Jawa 250 1970

Hi AtulOriginally posted by atul_astro View Posthey arun
firstly, congrats on the disc setup..it definitely looks hot and plus the two pot pulsar unit must be working well, and trust me its way economical to maintain as well
truly said, they key factor in making a disc setup is the welding..a little mess up here and there and it can bugger it up royally
again, thanks a lot coz you gave me credit where it was due, which is why it feels good to work for fellas like you
for the rear drum brake on the fury, yes its kinda weak but as joel said, a few tweaks can make it all good..starting with giving the drum liner a good rough finish, checking for scratch marks, gashes, and a surface thats too smooth...nothing a good emery paper session cant cure
a disc brake contraption for the rear shouldn't be very expensive, provided you can get your hands on a single pot fury caliper..I'd suggest making the P220 units work..coz they run excellent box section swingarms too, and those can be plonked on the RD chassis without much effort..and oh yea, they're availible and cheap
the rear disc on the P220 is nothing but the front disc that came on the earlier generation pulsars till date..the caliper and mastercylinder and lever unit comes cheap too..swingarms shouldnt be difficult to find...only expensive conversion here is getting the pulsar 220 rear rim and the tyres; also im not sure of what sprocket and chain we can run on those
hope this helps
cheers
ps: lemme know when you want me to send over the CDI kit arun...I've kept it ready long time ago..I've kept aside the Nippon rotor for you
I am a new bee here. Had my first 350 in 89 for 3 years and after that bought another one in 98 this time an LT model. Used it till 2003 and after that its lying like that (its like scrap). PLanning to restore it completly. Looking for new cylinders STDand the only one i am getting are HT US spec with Wesco Pistons. Looking for a CDI KIT and the front disk set up

can surely help you. He can provide you the cdi kit also. For the front disk, better use a disk, master&caliper from P220/RTR.. or else, swap the entire front end of the FZ
.. thats the ultimate as of now.. the 41mm forks will be an added advantage..
