why not all of us who are interested send a joint petition to RE, if the numbers are good probably we can change RE's mind about an Indian launch.

another option ask them to do a 500-1000 piece limited run like Hyosung did with the comet, probably that will help, it will also help with the exclusivity of the bike and might just justify a high price tag

On a related subject - just like the "Upmarket" website for Bullet Classic - the Royal Enfield website has also gone for an upgrade - but a non functional one.

Its been over a week now since http://www.royalenfield.com/
has changed and only yesterday the Number Plates URLs started working.

All my and others Trip Logs have gone into a mess - the URLs don't work and many are missing altogether.

My Number Plate now says ZERO Logs (I have over half-a-dozen Enfield T-Shirts for writing stories there) - and also the Number Plate Ranking has been set to Zero as well.

The Discussion Forum has become Worse as well - unreadable as clicking on various posts reveals nothing and mouseover works only for topmost replies since the message is not completely seen for others.

Is this an upgrade or disaster ?

These things may feel stupid to some and to Enfield webmaster - but I believe The Trip Logs and Forum is the PRIMARY CONTENT of that website - what else is there to see there everyday otherwise ? ? ?

        IDIOTS !!!

If we aren't getting the classic in India , how about the 500 with Fi ? Is the 500 LB still available?

I am sure - some one may had already made a Bullet Classic Clone with style cues taken directly from it.it may not be a big deal for many mechanics?

it is fairley very easy to convert your bike to similar the looks would set you back by around 10K at the max, may be less if you are able to sell the original tank and stuff.

i am planning to buy the TBTS 350 and that may see this kinda look. or you may say a standard look. though i would try to see it should not be black.

What is the need to buy tbts 350 for that! do you want UCE engine?
If yes ,why not wait for Electra uce 350 ? and machismo 500 uce ?(acc. to RE dealer ,machismo LB500 production stopped already!).

You see the word is used PLANNING so that may be a month or a couple or a while.. hehe even if a Electra UCE comes then again i would need to get the stuff replaced cause the kind of Fenders(read mudguards) i am planning are the ones from the old times the vintage style the ones that i have on my bike. i am not sure when UCE 500 would be out yes i am sure that i am not going for a new bike any thing before this jan or feb. i am not sure or neither have i heard that the production of 500LB has seized. any way lets wait

Hey guys, may be you all are aware that RE doesnt plan to launch the 500 Classic in India! If not, then I am copying my mails below that I sent to Andrew (contact person for bullet Classic). Please understand that below are my views only and I didnt generalized anything, whatever I wrote is from my experience. Read on....

                          My first mail:
                          Hello Raj,

My name is Sachin and I currently own a Bullet Electra 5S.

Although you might have guessed the reason I am writing this mail, still, here it is. I am interested in knowing the launch details of Bullet 500 Classic in India, that's right, the one with UCE 500cc engine, 27.5 bhp, Electronic Fuel Injection, 18 inch tyres with 110 rear.

To tell you frankly, I am not very satisfied with the overall performance of my Electra 5s. It just doesn't justify the 350cc engine which is incidentally the biggest and most powerful engine in India!

Coming back to Bullet 500 Classic, I do not hope and expect you to tell me that RE has no plans of introducing it in India, because that will be extremely disappointing. Indians have the purchasing power and we want a bike which can do 100kmph without sounding like its gonna blow in seconds!!! Currently, I do not think any of the RE motorcycles can do it including 500cc Machismo, yes that's right. I have ridden it and its not powerful enough for a 500cc, not even close to it.

However, I will understand if RE plans to launch it in 2009, I can wait till then. Please, I want to ride a good bike, so do not keep 500 Classic for international markets only! I hope you understand my point here.

Looking forward for a reply which will put a smile on my face!

                          Thank you
                          Sachin

                          His reply:
                          Dear Sir,

Thank you for your visit to the Royal Enfield website and your interest in the Bullet Classic.

We wish to inform you that the Bullet Classic is currently being made specifically for sale in the European markets. This model is an exclusive design for European countries to meet their specific rules and regulations connected to emissions and safety.

This model is not directly compatible to Indian homologation requirements and is hence not scheduled for release in India for the time being. However, we are working towards a new engine platform for India and we will implement certain design changes from the Bullet Classic. We expect to launch a similar product for India in 2010. We will inform you through the media at the appropriate time regarding the release of this model for the Indian market. Thank you.

                          Regards,

                          Andrew Anantharaj

                          My final reply:
                          Hello Andrew,

                          Thank you for the reply.

However, please excuse my ignorance towards this matter but I fail to understand how the Bullet 500 Classic does not meet homologation requirements of India considering the fact that Yamaha is out selling their premium motorcycles like R1 and MT01 in India without making any changes in these models at all!!! Also, Suzuki and Honda have also announced that they will be bringing in their supersport motorcycles soon, yes, the same supersports they sell around the world.

Hence, can you please explain me why it is so much difficult for Royal Enfield to bring in Bullet 500 Classic as exactly the way it is in India?

I am really interested to know this!

                          Regards,
                          Sachin

...and he hasn't replied to my final mail yet and I dont think he will, anyways, I'll let you all know!

HAHA sachin ,you pounced him back really hard .I am sure ,they will be getting a UCE electra 350cc very soon for India.not much of a hope.

and we dont want spoon feeding from RE.and eventhough they are making available Bull classic uce available to the old people in west ,there are many who bash RE for it is Indian(now.) check enfield usa forum for eg.

I think I had to...because I seriously do not understand his point regarding 500 classic not compatible with Indian homologation!!! It was like "what the hell...". Oh, and yes, I should have added Ducati too along with Honda and Suzuki

Sachin India has a import law which states that Motorcycles above 800cc don't need Homologation.
