you know what makes this thread such a pleasure to follow? this gentleman doesn't appear to be only a collector/restorer. he, like his good friend Muthu sir, seems to be a bit of a wrench-turner himself.

          1981 Rajdoot Deluxe

Here is my 1981 Rajdoot Deluxe

A gift from my uncle , he used this for more than 20 years and didn't want to sell to anyone.
It was exposed to chemicals and iron ores in New Mangalore Port, where he was employed.

As he bought new Honda Activa, kept this idle for 2-3 years and the condition deteriorates day by day because of the Mangalorean weather.

Sorry for not having the photo of the bike before restoration.

Took 3 months to restore and rode straight to his house......and he was stunned and shocked to see his bike as NEW

          Details

Engine type: 2- stroke, Single cylinder
          Bore& stroke : 61.5 X 58 mm
          Displacement : 173 cc
          compression ratio : 6.6:1
          Carburetor : horizontal 24mm mikuni
          ignition : Flywheel magneto
          Power : 9 bhp @ 5000 rpm
          Torque ( max) : 1.37 kg-m @ 3500 rpm
gear box: 3 speed constant mesh.
          gear ratios : 2.89 , 1.47 & 1

              Correct frankpilli...

The condition was so bad, so we went painting it in Black....I may get a new one soon.

Also I managed to procure the side monogram

Don't get soo amazed Siddharth, it came to India in 1976. and the world is riding it before that. i remember seeing it in the Atlas cycle stores when i was a kid may be in 1979 and the funniest part is i doubted what happens if this thing goes over the most common material on Indian roads "cow/buffalo DUNG", as the front wheel is driven by a friction wheel pressing against the front tyre . so if the moped be ridden over Dung, imagine what happens.

and the engine is no as heavy as the other mopeds, so i don't think its against the laws of physics, but definitely not easy to ride like a normal moped

                              • Looking at this I am reminded of something my mother used to ride much before I was born. It was called a 48, I believe, at least that is what I remember of it. Had huge wheels and not good handling if my mother is to be believed, she took a couple of tumbles on it. It was rusting in our backyard for a few years before being finally sold off. Looked very moped-like and had large spoke sheels (I was just a tiny tot then and can hardly remember it). Anyone know it??

On another note: Looking at your collection Girish sir, even I am having some thoughts about getting inolved with a mature lady, if you know what I mean..... I really love the older BMW R series. The R 55 to 75 and 1940's harley's, war-time BSA's, not to forget the legendary Borough Superior and 1930's Indian fours (my personal favourites being the BMW and Indian)
