NOW PRESENTING - my first accident on my Royal Enfield !!!
A Cow ran and hit my Royal Enfield Bullet Motorcycle - didn't wait to see if it died because the villagers would lynch me to death.
As I see it - Villagers would not pay for my hospitalisation had I broken bones - so I see no obligation towards these b@$tard villagers who abandon their cattle on the State Highway.
I had no plans of going anywhere this weekend after 5 consecutive weekends of rides on my motorcycle.
Then all friends demanded I organise one more ride. 6th ride. I planned morning single day ride to nearby valley and back by noon.
Malshej Ghat is about 85 KMs from my home and is a State Highway.
I had gone there with friends to see the view in the valley in the chilling cold (for someone coming from the heat of Bombay city). It was cold windy and no hot sun even after 11 AM.

While going and coming back there were cattle by the roadside.
While returning at one point - there were a dozen cattle on the left side of the road.
All of them were standing still so I went carefully at 60 KMPH
Then a stupid Cow decided to charge at my Enfield Bullet.
The young cow rammed his head on my bike and hit the big Crash Guards (leg guard) on the left side. He came running from my left and hit me from the side - NOT MY FAULT AT ALL I would say.
The guard got bent and hit my shin (between knee and ankle).
I wobbled for a second and then continued straight on 2 wheels - straight as an arrow - as the weight of my Enfield kept me steady.
I rode on non stop till the city and found that my skin on the shin had a huge swelling. Like a Tennis ball inside my skin.
Since I could move and feel my ankle I knew it wasn't a fracture.
Went to a hospital anyways and got an X Ray.
All is well. The swelling is Blood Clot due to impact.
Chemists shops are closed in suburbs on Sunday.
So only ice and elevated feet was a solution till 8 AM Monday.
Kicked the crash guard back to shape.
Bad adventure which got my blood rushing faster than anytime I can remember. Due to the Adrenaline Rush I didn't feel the leg pain until I reached my waiting friends at Kalyan and they suggested checking me.
I am back in office on Tuesday

The rear crash guard you see was also bent on the left - so his head banged in the front and bounced at the rear guard as well - ONLY Noticed that on Monday when I went to the welding shop.
And yeah it felt great actually to stay on 2 wheels after that - I had slowed down on sighting those cattle grazing and maybe if I were faster and he got his aim I would have been worse.
AS I SAID - if I stopped I would be in deep mess - villagers are mobs of illiterate people - Don't know if the Cow died or not. The leg guard is thick metal and it bent completely to hit my shin - quite an impact.
EXPENSES:
1. Welding front and rear leg guard, straightening the metal - Rs 250
2. Washing - Rs 50
3. X Ray at Wockhardt Hospital - Rs 350
4. Medication/ tablets - Rs 300
5. Adventure of standing tall on the Iron Horse after a charging Cow hits you - Priceless

I MAY INDEED GO TO HELL - for injuring / killing a Cow but I will not be the only one - hopefully the owner of the stray cattle will be there in Hell before me and I will join there to Kick his Arse !!!

. many times ,single dogs just jump infront of the Bullet. In the nights silence ,the Thump of the Bullet distracts them too much ?
