    Hi Nitin,

The finishing you refering on RX 100 is Aluminium Hard anodising.
it will be matt even finish( like a film over aluminium).

i remember only RX 100 Head nd front fork legs are anodised. never saw an stock Rx engine case and chain cover anodised. IIRC they only came with painted.

KB 100 front forks also hard anodised which will give similar RX 100 Head finish.

Note :Chrome electro plating of head and engine case will tends to leak; due to non uniform coating. In general chrome platting has tendancy to form more coating at sharp corners and edges.

the alternate method is electroless chrome plating which is quite expensive and very time consuming.(less durability)

Hey Vijay, Thank You for letting me know the technical detail for it. Now that you tell me, I think yes, only head+fork legs had this finish. It has been more than 10 years since my RX100 underwent first re-paint, so weak memory u see

uh i thought about the chroming as a cosmetic addition only. But plating gives rise to technical issues too... But i have not come across any kind of flaws when i got the head plated last time in rx135. What it cud be den? Is it not the same coating which is done for other parts?

Ah cool !!!! no worries den! i am gonna move as planned!! i always wanted every rx of mine to have the head plated. But unfortunately the first one rx-z didnt get this cosmetic touch cos i had painted it full black. I am thinking of giving the head of rx-z too while the work is on for rx100. Will be easy to sort work togather.
