Our friend was looking for a complete end to end restoration, he was looking out for some one who could restore the bike to its best condition. He got to know about us taking up the 2-stroke restoration to new levels called me up and said he would want us to do the restoration of his RX 100. So had a long chat with him on his requirement and then suggested a few things which will best for his riding. He was very happy for 2 reason.
1. We listen to what was his requirement. Then based on that we suggested what is the cheap, best and quality approach to attain a reliable build.
2. Suggestion on how to reuse the existing parts than to replace the entire stuff there by reducing the overall cost.
so here are the pics of the bike when we took possession of it for restoration.
This bike has was owned by my friends brother in law, he had brought it during his college days the bike was purchased in 96(i think i ll confirm the exact year). My friend's BIL went to US for 2 years in 2009 and since then the bikes possession was give to my friend and it had done only 37k kms then now the bike has done 49k kms only. So the bike is still a single owner bike and in the same family. The bike required a complete restoration, my friend was pushing it for a while and now finally the time has come.
The bike engine was in good condition thanks to the less run km's and a rebore that was done 1 yr ago (2k kms ). The bike is running on a 0.25 piston and rest all no problems with the engine. Body condition as seen in the pics required intense restoration.
After riding the bike for a test ride the following were our observations:
1. Engine requires nothing to be touched upto its in perfect healthy state
2. Cylinder is good but a blue printing of the cylinder will give much better performance for the bike
3. Rims require repalcement
4. Front and back mud guard requires replacement
5. Speedo meter and complete instrument cluster requires replacement
6. Need to convert the ignition set to center locking
7. Fuel tank and side sheilds require replacement
8. Fork oil seal replacement
9. Cone set replacement
10. Brake pads replacement
11.Indicators replacement
12. Chassis balancing and check for any bends
13. Chassis painting
14. Chroming of other parts which dont require replacement
15. Headlight dome replacement
16. Bolt nut zinc treatment to avoid any rust formation in future
17. Back tyre and rim change to Yezdi set up
This bike restoration is completed already we had started work on this 02/06/2012 and by the end of 28 days you guys will see how the bike has been transformed. Below are a few pics taken when the bike came to us for restoration.
Cheers,
Chethan
