  • RX 100 end to end restoration : By Energy Induction

    Hello All,

Our friend was looking for a complete end to end restoration, he was looking out for some one who could restore the bike to its best condition. He got to know about us taking up the 2-stroke restoration to new levels called me up and said he would want us to do the restoration of his RX 100. So had a long chat with him on his requirement and then suggested a few things which will best for his riding. He was very happy for 2 reason.

    1. We listen to what was his requirement. Then based on that we suggested what is the cheap, best and quality approach to attain a reliable build.
    2. Suggestion on how to reuse the existing parts than to replace the entire stuff there by reducing the overall cost.

so here are the pics of the bike when we took possession of it for restoration.

This bike has was owned by my friends brother in law, he had brought it during his college days the bike was purchased in 96(i think i ll confirm the exact year). My friend's BIL went to US for 2 years in 2009 and since then the bikes possession was give to my friend and it had done only 37k kms then now the bike has done 49k kms only. So the bike is still a single owner bike and in the same family. The bike required a complete restoration, my friend was pushing it for a while and now finally the time has come.

The bike engine was in good condition thanks to the less run km's and a rebore that was done 1 yr ago (2k kms ). The bike is running on a 0.25 piston and rest all no problems with the engine. Body condition as seen in the pics required intense restoration.

After riding the bike for a test ride the following were our observations:
    1. Engine requires nothing to be touched upto its in perfect healthy state
    2. Cylinder is good but a blue printing of the cylinder will give much better performance for the bike
    3. Rims require repalcement
    4. Front and back mud guard requires replacement
    5. Speedo meter and complete instrument cluster requires replacement
    6. Need to convert the ignition set to center locking
    7. Fuel tank and side sheilds require replacement
    8. Fork oil seal replacement
    9. Cone set replacement
    10. Brake pads replacement
    11.Indicators replacement
    12. Chassis balancing and check for any bends
    13. Chassis painting
    14. Chroming of other parts which dont require replacement
    15. Headlight dome replacement
    16. Bolt nut zinc treatment to avoid any rust formation in future
    17. Back tyre and rim change to Yezdi set up

This bike restoration is completed already we had started work on this 02/06/2012 and by the end of 28 days you guys will see how the bike has been transformed. Below are a few pics taken when the bike came to us for restoration.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Phase 1 of complete strip down of the bike for chassis balancing, chassis painting and Center lock fitment

So the bike then went for a chassis painting and Chrome parts went in for a chroming. All bolt and nuts went for a zinc treatment for the long lasting and rich looks.

For most of you who may not know me. I am new to xBhp my friend @karthikdattag used to ask me to always come and join xBhp but somehow i stay away from biking for a long time and had been too much into cars. Now that we have chased our passion and started our venture energy induction it feels like the sleeping horse is running in full speed now.

Will post the phase 2 tomorrow where we get into pics which share details on the parts tht came back from all the treatment and painting mentioned above.

      Cheers,
      Chethan

              Beautiful Chethan..!

              My Opinions:
              • Any specific reasons for Yezdi rear (Owners request or something?) I personally don't like that..
              • Why YEIS??
Whenever there is a Rainbow in the sky, I know it's u mastering the art of Cornering. U will always be remembered brother, R.I.P Arun.

                Thank you Ram !!
Everything we do would be customer's preference unless the customer says your free to restore it the way we like
                Yezdi is customer preference
and YEIS the problem is we are not getting the RX 100 engine sticker out here and we didnt want to use the local stickering to get only that black strip.
So the other option we had was to paint that area black instead the YEIS sticker was cost effective

Also we suggested the customer to get the metal key set we had but since he wanted the center locking we had to skip that option.

Also in the coming pics you ll see a lot more things which is not there which a typical RX 100 restoration would demand.

                Like:
                Rear view mirrors
                Yoke rubber
No center selt strap that comes in RX 100
                Cheers,
                Chethan

Got it Chethan.. But the real beauty of a 100 lies in the three things above. I'm sure you'll agree to that.

Yeap Ram i agree to you
Infact i had those mirrors fitted(had a set of old ones in stock) and the yoke rubber put to show the customer how the bike looks but he didnt like it and didnt want me to take pics either

The best colour i would suggest for the RX 100 restoration is this colour it just is a crowd leader and stunner.

Source of the pic is google
Actually the colour in the pic is close to the colour i am talking about by say 90% but not exact the same. Will share a pic of our prev restores on the colour i am talking about
                    Cheers,

Got it. Just a quick question. Is the Rx 100 Factory painted Blue same as RXZ factory Blue? If not, could you give me the color reference for RXZ. Thanks in advance.

Ram on a lighter side i hope you know boys are not good with colour shades its the girls who are good at it heheheh.

As far as i can remember the RX 100 colour is a tad shade more lighter than the RX Z blue i have posted the RX Z blue in your other thread

will keep both the RX 100 and RX Z which are still in the factory colours(my friend has them) next to each other and click a pic and send it to you this weekend
                        Cheers,

28 days flat is really commendable in getting the bike into a finished product. There are many painters i know who take those many days only to get the bike painted.

Wonderfully done, except for the points highlighted by Ram. But one can't do much about a customers choice i guess.

                              OT:

I doubt that Ram, the colors are different. The one on the RXZ is more towards blue and the one on the RX-100 is more towards green.
Only doubt i have here is whether this color came from the factory and also the decal used on the tank was it originally white in color or golden itself like on all the other paint color available.
