I never knew that in GT, tubeless tires are run with tubes!
I thought these alloy spoke wheels won't have spoke endings protruding into the rim and hence tubeless tires are direct fit.

That is what put me off too! Checked this out last week and was pretty disappointed with what I heard. The Pirelli Sport Demons are tubeless but RE puts tubes in them.

Moreover, I spoke to Lokmanya Tyres here in Pune and they only have the rear 130 tyre in stock and not the front one. He gave me the distributer's number called R S Enterprises and they too don't have a clue on the front tire.

Considering these two findings, I decided not to go for the GT setup.

On a lighter note, here a paint brush job that I'd done. Cant wait for the spares to arrive.

The plan is to have this kind of look on the wheels. Chrome rim and black spokes.

Can someone tell me if this can be done on the Duke alloys. Should I get the electroplating done first and then go in for the paint for the spokes?

Quick update. I will be travelling to the US this month end and was surprised to know that I would be getting some extra money (1 month gross salary) due to some profit or whatever that the company did. It seems even the Gods want the RD to be built!!

oil seal kit, packing kit, harder clutch springs ,small end bearings , i dont think you will be able to fit the carb boots onto the tm carbs, also if possible switch to uni filters instead of k&n, then there is the bearing kit, also there is a weird shaped o ring that comes at the primary gear side

1. Oil Seal Kit, Packing Kit - Is there any difference in the quality these guys sell ? ( I have 2 sets locally procured).
2. Clutch springs - Saw the EKC ones but forget to add them to the list. Will add them now.
3. Carb Boots - This would be for the original carbs that I have. Plan to put the one with the choke on the RXZ.
4. Bearings - They don't seem to carry the right ones. Any idea where I can get the Koyo ones?
5. Filter - Haven't tried UNI or K&N before. I want a filter that fits in the original filter box. Will see if they have the Uni one too.

Cheers,

Better to get the oil seals and packing abroad the local ones quality is not upto the mark , besides man you are spending this much on the engine , after you finish and start up you find the local oil seals leaking then that will be a dampener, so spend a little more and get the best stuff. do it once and do it right

about the bearings SriramEfunds bought koyos for his rxz rebuild maybe he can help you

one more thing , make sure that your crank is running std size (crank pins) connecting rods and not oversize ones or the crank pins of the new con rods wont fit properly(they will be loose)

Is it that the connecting rods size changes with piston size in RD.

Hi All,

Does anyone have any idea on the amount of custom duty that I would need to pay? I was reading chapter 87 on the customs website and they have a tax rate of 10-20% depending upon the type of part.

Would really appreciate inputs from folks that have dealt with the Indian customs when ordering spares and what their experience was like.

Found some great link to calculate the duty. Just select the part type and enter its value, duty is calculated and shown. Generally its coming out to be 30%

Indian Customs Duty | Import Duty India of HS Code 8714 | PARTS AND ACCESSORIES OF VEHICLES OF HEADINGS 8711 TO 8713

Cheers,

$30 for carb boots? WOW!! I remember paying around 80 bucks for 2 in blore last year!! Good quality rubber.

I would stick to foam filters for better filtration- Get UNI's from the states for around $15-20 a pop. Stay away from the ones you get locally here as well as the ones from RDD.

I would suggest a 525 or even 520 chain/sprocket kit. The blimey 530's are too darn heavy. Although Regina is a good brand for chains, would suggest the DID x-ring series. I paid around $140 for a 108 link chain rated for 1000cc bikes. I didnt pay customs on it since my American boss carried it down labeling it as a gift for a dear friend!

Are you certain you want to retain the points? It can be a pain to maintain.
