  • Whats the difference between 2 brothers..... Samurai and Shogun

Hello friends, from good time a question is knocking in my mind whats the difference between 2 brothers,i.e difference between Tvs-Suzuki shogun and samurai.AFAIK the difference between shogun and samurai are carburettor, block piston, silencer, tachometer, headlamp and graphics. But i'm not sure.Experts please clear my doubt, and also tell how the conversion can be done from samurai to shogun.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

        Well Well Well,
Dont want to disappoint anyone or Any Harm Meant to Anyone, I want to apologise to everybody Please Excuse me for talking like this.

        Difference:
        ShoGun (The Boss) = Tiger
        Samurai = Goat

        Some little things about Samurai:
        1) 98.2 cc engine displacement
        2) 7.48 Horse power
        3) 5500 RPM
        4) Top Speed of 87 KMPH (Stock Bike)
        5) Bikes firing Sounds like a Mosquito Buzzing in your ears.

        Some little things about Shogun:
        1) 108.2 cc engine displacement
        2) 14 BHP
        3) 8500 RPM
        4) Top Speed of 105 KMPH (Stock Bike)
        5) Bikes firing Sounds like Tiger Roaring & Can be heard from quite a Distance & can be recognised easily.

Both are from the stables of TVS no doubt Best Machines but there can be no Comparison in Between Shogun & Samurai.
Final Thing You got to Ride them & Know the Real Feel of Machines!!!!!

It's going to be a daunting task to find the necessary parts like the bore, carburetor, tachometer etc. if you have another bike or the time is not going to be a problem you may try this or else its always better to keep your samurai and search for a shogun.

Conversion of Samurai to Shogun is not going to be easy at all, because Shoguns Bore cannot be mounted on Samurai's Engine Casings as the mouth of the Crank shaft is much much smaller & Shoguns Bore cannot fit on it. The only way I see of doing the conversion is, get a complete Shogun's Engine from the Flea Market alongwith Sprockets & Silencer & there you are all done a Samurai converted to a Shogun (I was lucky to get Shogun Engines for 6k in Flea Market in Mumbai I dont know about your city)

Can some one validate the above fact? I'm not convinced that last batch of Shogun were underpowered one.

Excuse me.. fastest 110cc is acceptable. How does Shogun fall in 100cc category? I understand your enthusiasm however, try to read it again logically before posting.

First of all, the Shogun was not even there in 1992. Secondly, it was always 14bhp.

Thanks Nitesh. That all my lord ! Was that in early 1994 they were out? Still remember my first experience on Silver Shogun when my school friend wheelied (not intentionally) and was a pillion. I got off the bike horrified and walked home (a km) instead even after he persuaded many times that he's still learning. That was in 1994.

@2Strokey - Its never too late to learn the facts but remember that many have evolved from 2 stroke days here.

Sri Shogun was launched around april 1993 by team TVS-SUZUKI motocross rider and National champion Shyam Kothari. That was the version1 without the Rpm meter. Next came the ver.2 with the Rpm meter and fork boots in april 1994. It was all Indian with only the piston-rings being from SGP Japan and Mikuni carb.

Many people [some very known and infamous ones too ]claim or misguide others by saying things like- 'Japan lot' Shogun etc. Fact is, they themselves are ignorant.

Oh boy... Um Its a bit of a long list. Everything I guess. Please excuse my ignorance in this matter.

What Kind of Carburetor, How many ports, type of induction (rx type reed or samurai type reed), Comp ratio, max rpm, weight, fuel capacity, max torque, first and last year of production, wheelbase, seat height etc...

If you have a manual ( which I am sure of), Then that would be really helpful.
