What Kind of Carburetor, How many ports, type of induction (rx type reed or samurai type reed), Comp ratio, max rpm, weight, fuel capacity, max torque, first and last year of production, wheelbase, seat height etc...

If you have a manual ( which I am sure of), Then that would be really helpful.
Thank you kb100 you made it easy! Bibhu, the engine is seven port,
    carb is Mikuni VM 20SS,
reed valve crankcase induction [ reed is the same as RX100 but is directed towards the crankshaft and not the piston] ,
produced first in 1993 and last i believe was in 2004 .
    comp. ratio -7.7:1 ,
    max rpm is 14k.
    weight- 104kg
    fuel tank capacity -12 litres
    max torque -10.3kw
wheelbase is same as Samurai -1208mm
height again same as Samurai -1053mm

Thank you. Answers most of my questions.

One last question. I have never seen an open shogun engine. I have, however, seen an open max 100. Is the reed valve type similar or does the shogun have rx type valves?

Thank you Doc, and KB100 for enlightening me.

The question with which the thread was started however, remains. What is the difference between shogun and samurai? I do understand both are quite different bikes. Shogun was built to be a hair trigger tracer bullet and the samurai was a commuter. What I mean to ask is, are there any similarities in the internal engine construction?

Ofcourse there are similarities in the engine internals. Shogun is based on the same engine Samurai uses. They share the same Magnet and stator. Basic crankcase design is the same with some differences to accomodate the block and crank on the Shogun.

So, on a basic level, the differences are in piston size, crank, port design, gearing, Carb and cdi?

I mean is the shogun an augmented samurai like the apache and the rtr or is it a different bike altogether?

Me and my friend is trying to go for a budget build.Long story short, can I plonk in a shogun/shaolin engine in a samurai?
                Or anything else..like RX 135 engine in a 4 stroke/max100 chassis?
                Which would be better?

shogun/shaolin engine can be plonked into max100 chassis..since they all shares simillar crankcase, engine mounts.

Hi Alby, Not sure about the 135's engine on a max frame, but you can transfer gun's/shaolin's engine on to a samurai's frame without trouble.
                    Keep us posted.

[QUOTE=SriramEfunds;919798]Can some one validate the above fact? I'm not convinced that last batch of Shogun were underpowered one.

yes.. Later shoguns were under powered ,because of the introduction of cat con silencer (euro emission rules)
