Wow thats great. Any idea how was the factory fitted CDI when it comes to performance? Is it at par with CB points? To my knowledge CDI can never come close to points. (rdd is an exception)

PS: I hope no one gets pissed off by the mere utter of the word "RDD" and hold me responsible for marketing rdd. I don't do marketing here, I am just a genuine RD enthusiast.
From what ive heard is, the kit was just ok. It was a last try made by Escorts as Points adjustments was a big complaint those days. It was a static CDI.

P.S- why would anyone be offended by the word RDD?? RDD doesnt need any marketing so dont worry. Its a free world so feel free to appreciate and praise what you like.

Most standard analogue cdi systems will be a bit weaker at lower RPMS compared to an equavalent points set up due to the longer spark of the points. However as the revs rise the CDI's advantages come in to play.

          performance ...
I have been using the auto escorts kit on my LT since more than a year. I am happy with the it since the hassle of frequent points adjustment is not needed anymore. I have not faced any issues with the kit at all. I got this one because it was the only kit in my budget. It is definitely more reliable than other jugad kits.
Regarding performance - many people say that the thrust is more with the points. But I noticed just a slight difference very minute (maybe because the points of my bike were not in a good condition).

Points will give you better initial over Autuescorts kit, provided you can get original Hitachi points. Dachi points available these days is the worse possible option.

P.S.: Bro, please wash your bike... If possible paint it too.

Thanks for the info bibhu . Points of my bike were worn and definitely not hitachi . I've always heard good things about points from purists. Would love to experience that once.

Washing- haha this pic was taken on a trip I did to rishikesh. It rained and the highway was filled with slush and mud. We being on bikes were able to by pass all the huge traffic jams . Will get it painted this summer, after I get the footrests and rims.

Well, experience on points depends on a few things. First, how well in condition your engine is. Second, if you have a lot of time in your hands to maintain and adjust the points. Third, if you have ready access to replacement parts. Fourth and most important, if your points, condensers and plate springs are oe quality or better.

I am anti-points because the problems I faced when I started work on my RD initially. The whole alternator assembly was in shambles. We tried to replace parts with any and everything including a few matador parts. We were unable to fix the points system as we didn't have access to a parts bin. RDD or RN kits were out of my reach both financially and contact wise. After going through a year of that even the worst 'jugad set-up' would look inviting. Fortunately we have a cheap and reliable alternative in the auto-escorts TCI kit(which i did not know about back then). Back then, fed up with all this, I built my own jugad ignition system using rx parts. Its easy to do and will start the bike easily. How it will run is another matter alltogether.
