Suzuki Shadow is it a Reality or just a Myth?
Long Long time ago I heard about Suzuki launching a 2 stroke Bike with 16 BHP & They were about to name it Suzuki Shadow. since then I have heard many stories about it being showcased in Delhi, some say there are a few Shadows going around in Manipur I really dont know if it was a reality or just a myth.
I request fellow Xbhpians to shed some light on this.Tags: None

Re: Suzuki Shadow is it a Reality or just a Myth?
I remember seeing pictures of the shogun shadow in bs motoring long back. It looked the same as a silver gray shogun but had alloy wheels and a front disc. I Will upload a pic tomorrow.Originally posted by 2strokey View PostLong Long time ago I heard about Suzuki launching a 2 stroke Bike with 16 BHP & They were about to name it Suzuki Shadow. since then I have heard many stories about it being showcased in Delhi, some say there are a few Shadows going around in Manipur I really dont know if it was a reality or just a myth.

Indeed it was a 16 Bhp 2 stroke with disc brakes, but mass production didnt materialize as the days of 2 stroke were numbered and with new stringent emission law, it was the last nail on the coffin!!!Originally posted by 2strokey View PostLong Long time ago I heard about Suzuki launching a 2 stroke Bike with 16 BHP & I really dont know if it was a reality or just a myth.

Indeed. Suzuki scrapped the project and went forward with the fiero.Originally posted by rxdude View PostIndeed it was a 16 Bhp 2 stroke with disc brakes, but mass production didnt materialize as the days of 2 stroke were numbered and with new stringent emission law, it was the last nail on the coffin!!!

Re: Suzuki Shadow is it a Reality or just a Myth?
99% sure that it did NOT have Fuel Injection.2 Stroke Fi (Regardless of the way it’s done,Direct or Indirect) is quite expensive, still difficult and complex to do even today, imagine what it would have been 20 years ago.Originally posted by Astro Nastro View PostIt is Shogun FI, not Shadow
That Red bike was a Next-Gen (Not quite) Shogun with Alloys that resembled the Suzuki GT series which was sold abroad, and (I believe) had a front disc setup that you find on the Old Fiero.People say that the engine was the same as Shogun but with improvements in the ports and state of tune to maintain the power but increase efficiency to compete with HH’s more efficient 4 strokes.
Shaolin was the RXG of Suzuki,A stop-gap bike for them to use the time to develop a proper successor to the Shogun. It showed a small glimpse of what TVS-SUZUKI is upto in the future. But we all know how that turned out.
Like how RXG had it’s specials,So did the Shaolin.RXG’s successor,The 135 launched.Sadly,Shogun was never succeeded by it’s true successor,The Shadow!Keep the blue smoke alive!

Re: Suzuki Shadow is it a Reality or just a Myth?
actually TVS did add fuel injection (manifold) to the shogun engine and a prototype was indeed shown at the auto expo, and was slated to be launched , they even had showcased an Abs system for two wheelers around that time RXG had to evolve into rx135 because escorts had no other choice , the bike had design faults and they started affecting its sales , by then it was too late , petrol prices rose steeply , emission norms got tighter, and hero honda splendor single handedly bulldozed the strokers to oblivionOriginally posted by Bratty Biker View Post99% sure that it did NOT have Fuel Injection.2 Stroke Fi (Regardless of the way it’s done,Direct or Indirect) is quite expensive, still difficult and complex to do even today, imagine what it would have been 20 years ago. That Red bike was a Next-Gen (Not quite) Shogun with Alloys that resembled the Suzuki GT series which was sold abroad, and (I believe) had a front disc setup that you find on the Old Fiero.People say that the engine was the same as Shogun but with improvements in the ports and state of tune to maintain the power but increase efficiency to compete with HH’s more efficient 4 strokes.Shaolin was the RXG of Suzuki,A stop-gap bike for them to use the time to develop a proper successor to the Shogun. It showed a small glimpse of what TVS-SUZUKI is upto in the future. But we all know how that turned out.Like how RXG had it’s specials,So did the Shaolin.RXG’s successor,The 135 launched.Sadly,Shogun was never succeeded by it’s true successor,The Shadow!Kawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

Re: Suzuki Shadow is it a Reality or just a Myth?
That’s really wow! I am quite surprised to know TVS thought so far ahead of their times on adding fuel injection and ABS on their 2 stroke bikes, almost 2 decades back! I wonder how they planned on the implementation.I think it would have been something like an injector on the manifold, reed valve eliminated,Like an Indirect Direct Injection.TPi or DDi would have been impossible in those days I guess.Originally posted by kb100 View Postactually TVS did add fuel injection (manifold) to the shogun engine and a prototype was indeed shown at the auto expo, and was slated to be launched , they even had showcased an Abs system for two wheelers around that time RXG had to evolve into rx135 because escorts had no other choice , the bike had design faults and they started affecting its sales , by then it was too late , petrol prices rose steeply , emission norms got tighter, and hero honda splendor single handedly bulldozed the strokers to oblivion
Yeah,Emission norms :/ Apart from the smoke, 2 strokes actually produce less monoxide and sulphur compared to a 4t.This only gets even better with Digital CDis that can advance and retard the timing at various RPM like say RDD.etc for a nice clean burn.Keep the blue smoke alive!
