Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
If you want to be maintenance free its better to have a CDi,
if you want a complete stock product with out modern features and is keen on maintaining the contacts go for contacts.
As simple as that

Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
if possible, stick to cdi , its advantages are, consistent performance, better fuel economy and low maintenance , can you please describe how the cb points provides current according to accelerationOriginally posted by ashishdpinjar View PostBut one of my friend told that CB ignition provides current according to accelerationKawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
I'm not sure man. As I said one of my friend said to me. He has three yezdi's. Has very good knowledge about Yezdi. He says in CDI the current remains constant, but in contact breaker current varies according to the throttle!! So better pick up while more acceleration. It's not jus about maintenance.Originally posted by kb100 View Postif possible, stick to cdi , its advantages are, consistent performance, better fuel economy and low maintenance , can you please describe how the cb points provides current according to acceleration

Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
if my knowledge is right, only a specific amount of spark is necessary for ignition. But the change we like to have is on the timing of the spark during high rpm. The advantage of the contact point is the timing can be adjusted.Originally posted by ashishdpinjar View PostHe says in CDI the current remains constant, but in contact breaker current varies according to the throttle!! Initial weak current and moisture all affect the contact points. So starting is difficult esp during monsoons. Not to speak about adjusting the points.
The timing on the normal CDi is constant.
Here comes the advantage a digital CDi which advances or retards the spark according to the engine RPM.
Maybe he is thinking like at higher RPM, higher the current from magneto, which gives more spark.Originally posted by kb100 View Postcan you please describe how the cb points provides current according to acceleration

Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
the key to better acceleration lies in the timing of the spark not the amount of current supplied , i dont know from where your friend got this idea, ,If you still want to listen to your Friends advice by all means stick to pointsOriginally posted by ashishdpinjar View PostI'm not sure man. Re: Contact breaker or Cdi?
Please ask your friend to go and do some reading regarding ignition systems, ignition timing, point float and coil charging cycle before giving such statements.Originally posted by ashishdpinjar View PostBut one of my friend told that CB ignition provides current according to acceleration
It is better to go with a cdi system if you can find a compatible one. At the end of the day its your wish.
