Congrats first for your thoughts on restoration. You can post some pics, so that you will be able to get more responses.

Some of the pointers from my side,
      1. I'm not from Pune, so no idea on #1
      2. There is no one stop portal to get the spares. Everything is scattered in different places, all you need is list down the items needed for your beast and post it here. You'll get to know the availability.
      3. There are lots for #3
Be patient and dont be in a hurry to get the work done, it may take months but its worth the wait.
Plan your work 1. Engine work 2.Other items 3. Finally go for re-painting.
Preserve your existing spares, there might be orginal items available

      All the best!!! Happy Restoration!!!

Based on my experience I can share the inputs on 2 and 3.

          Spare parts :
          1. Be very careful for spare parts . People will quote you astronomically high price . Buy them at realistic prices.
There are plenty of parts available in Karol Bagh Delhi.

One good person I know :

          |Mr S.K Jain (09868928370 / 011-28755903) |
          |New Delhi Motor Cycles Agency. 51/1816, |
          |Naiwala, Karol Bagh, New Delhi

          What not to do :
          1. Don't loose patience .
          2. Don't leave any spare part at mechanic's shop . Your old spare parts are more valuable then new one.
          3. Take lot of photograph of machine in each stage.
          4. First collect the spare parts and then go for rebuild.

Believe me yezdis/jawa are pretty simple machines. All the parts are available.
PM me in case you need help with spare parts .

Post few pics so that we can see the current state of bike.

            Re: YEZDI Restoration @ Pune

Thanks guys for quick n useful response, will post pics soon.. I have finalised the mechanic where I will get my JAWA restored (it doesn't need full restoration as such as it is already in semi restored condition). I was more keen to go for JAWA but as I am 5'5" in height thought JAWA is little heavy to handle so wanted to go for Yezdi but while closing the deal I also took a trial run of JAWA and fell in love so got JAWA 250. I also would like to know from this forum, has any one imported JAWA spares from Europe or some other part of the world ? If yes do you mind sharing the experience ?

@Admin, If necessary, we can change post/tread title to "JAWA restoration".

                Re: YEZDI Restoration @ Pune

I had done up my Yezdi sometime back. Do let me know if you need any info on where to get spares and I might be able to guide you.

Some precautions I'm sure that you already know about -
                a. Collect spares before you start the rebuild. (Let me know what all stuff you need and I might be able to help you on that, including what prices you need to buy them at ).
                b. When it comes to ur bike, don't trust anyone blindly specially your mechanic. Please question why things are being done / why parts are being replaced. You can always confirm the same with our fellow Xbhpians.
                c. If your bike is registered to a different RTO (not the Pune one), then get the NOC work done as well.

                Cheers,

The best place to build your Yezdi is Mysore, Karnataka. You can get all the spares and good mechanics there.

Do you have a junk yard kind of place there? If you are lucky, you might run into one in fairly good condition.
Else you might have an alternate.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.
