  • [Photo Feature]: Restoring the yamaha RXG 135

    Hey Guys,

So I recently bought a Yamaha RXG; 4speed 1997 make.
Ofcourse I have been warned about the faulty RXG's that were made that year but I am fairly happy with the condition of the bike for the price I paid. I am located in Bangalore. The bike is in a not-so-great condition, running well will sounds from engine and a clutch assembly that I assume is due for a complete overhaul. I found a (very impressive) mechanic in Koramangala, Ray's Garage.

Over the course of next four months, I want to modify the bike into
Yamaha XT 600 Cafe Racer - Grease n Gasoline

First things first, I want the condition of the bike restored to original.

    1) How much should a full engine service cost ? (The engine has never been open before)
    2) How much should a complete replacement of clutch assembly cost?
    3) Has any of you gone through 'fixing' the chassis of RXG (Increasing the riding height to avoid sound when with a pillion)

How much of a work am I look at to get the RXG to the link I posted above?

    Thanks in advance

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Full engine overhaul cost depends upon the condition of your engine. It would be any where from 7-8k to 15-20k.

Finding a rxg clutch bell is very hard. If you switch to a 135 assy it would cost you around 8k including everything.

Regarding ride height, you can use rear shock extenders for that. Dont fiddle with the chassis.

Pulsar rear shock absorber will increase the height by 1 inch.
