  • [Photo Feature]: my yamaha rxz 4 speed restoration.

hello to all !!! myself narendran from pondicherry. this is my first restoration of my rxz. i have bought my rxz 4 speed (black colour) with 2 owners (i will be the third one ) for a good price. bike came with cbz headlight assembly and rajdoot meters ,0.75 size 4tl00 E1 series bore .the bike even has the oil gauge with the oil tank .i am willing to restore the bike myself at home except doing the engine with a trained mechanic. it would be really nice if you guys help me with some parts (only few remaining) because in my place rxz bike is rare and the spares for them are really rare and i also request you guys to guide me throught the restoration

the above are some pics of the bike before dismantelling

IT WOULD BE SO HELPFUL IF ANYONE FROM PONDICHERRY COULD ASSIST ME

I HAVE THE FOLLOWING DOUBTS AS OF NOW( will ask more later )

1.after dismantelling the chassis, sandblasting should be done before powder coating???,if yes where can i do the sandblasting and if no what should i do ?
2.how to remove the old paint from the tank and sideshields. ine of my friend said to use a chemical named deelo which costs about 245 which removes the paint.is that so ?
3.how to remove the rust present in the tank
4.what are the essential parts to be changed in the bike except the engine because will try to change everything in it.
the cdi which came with the bike is a local cdi .can i go with it or should i buy a new one.if so what will be the price
5.what are the best tyres for a rx and the tyre sizes also please!

I NEED THE FOLLOWING SPARES ALSO at fair prices:

    1.rxz fork cups
    2.mask clamps(3 in nos)
    3.reflector clamps
4.rxz new white clour tank and white colour body kit
it can be oe or non oe. used or new

i have sand blasted the chassis .skipped to do powder coating as it is not in my place and a friend of mine also said that primer coating after the sand blast is better than powder coating

Sad that you do not have powder coating. It is worth. When you do powder coating, the shop will remove the old paint themselves mostly using phosporous compounds. Do not use heavy compounds on plastics. Might melt or cause damage. No experiments mate. The painter will take care of it. They just remove the shine first and then proceed to putty, base, color and clear.

As for the spares prepare a list, fill up the wallet and come down to Chennai. You can get all of it. It could be a day's work.
