  • Giving a new look and feel for my Rx135

It's time to give my 8 years companion a new fresh look and feel. She took care of me even in her bad times also. And never gave me any big troubles till now.

About my ride: I bought my rx in 2007 from Mumbai as soon as I got a job there. I mean from my 1st salary.it was not in such a good shape. I rode her for 3 months and did 1st restoration from a mechanic. Spent a huge amount and later found that parts listed on the bill were different and the items installed are different. I mean most are after market parts and quoted for oem bill. It was a failure. But I had to ride it for some years. Rode for 4 years and in between I replaced almost all parts with oem gradually.

Again it was time for a restore and this time I did everything myself. Cant tell this as a complete restore as i didnt pulled out the engine from chasis. I painted it as it is.This time installed front disk setup also. After 6 months I gave my bike to a friend for his trip and he literally broke my bike. Engine seized. Crank broken. Sprocket chain damaged etc. I wanted to put a new stock block and piston. But since because of vitamin M deficiency I put SAM block and mahle piston. Trust me it's damn good and riding it since from 4 years and still no damages. I didn't find any difference in performance also.

Now again it's time for another rebuild. This time I am dismantling everything and doing a complete rebuild. Job started today. Estimated time is 7-10 days. Today Removed meter , pilot lamps headlight ,indicators, switch assembly etc. Work halted because of too many mosquitos. Will resume tomorow morning.

Will be updating here day today progress.

All the best with your restoration. Do share a few pictures of your bike when you bought it, now before the restoration and also the entire process of restoring your bike. Thanks
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

My plan for the restoration is as follows.

Engine : Since no damages, no need of engine work. Will open and check whether any damage to piston or rings. If piston damaged then rebore and 1st os ART Piston and rings.
        Oil change, all new gaskets
        New Air filter
New halonix 60/55w normal halogen bulb.
        New exide 5l battery.
Entire nut, bolts and washers to be changed to stainless steel.
        All new rubber washers.
Front disk pad change. Disk overhauling.
        Front shock overhauling.
Change all pilot and indicator bulbs to LED.
        New side and central stand.
        4 new indicators.
Custom LED board for brake light and rear light.
Shogun meter with rx ignition switch.

Paint : Cherry red for tank, side panel, front mudguard, handle bar, headlight.

Black Powder coating for entire chasis, head, block, engine covers, saree guard, rear and front hub etc.

Chrome plating for silencer, carrier etc.

Any other inputs from senior members are welcome and appreciate the same.

Bought all oem parts. Except crash guard and handle. Crash guard I took straight bar and handle with rectangle cross bar. All nut and bolts are oem. Also have ss nut and bolts also. Small and possible nut and bolts will be replaced with ss and oem will be kept as backup.
