  • [Photo Feature]: Probably India's youngest KB-100 RTZ

Hello to all my fellow riders on xbhp. I am starting this thread to construct a sweet reminiscent of the good 'ol two stroke days.
It so happens that my uncle bought his very own RTZ in the year 1990 which he proudly maintained and rode till 2006. He then had to go out of town and thus the KB-100 was left to rust in peace.
BUT, I would not have let that happen as you will find out. I turned 21 last year and my fathers reliable Super S. 125 was starting to feel stupid. Managed to do quite a number of knee-downs on it if you thought what level of stupidity I was mustering up. But my family won't get me a new bike.

That's when I saw a sleeping beast in the form of my uncle's KB_100. I did not need second notice to start restoring this magnificent underdog. In about two days the bike came into running condition and I was so very happy to see only 52k on the odo!!!!!!!!

I had to change all liquids, the fuel cap, fuel knob, clutch plates and also the clutch cables.

I am also uploading the photos for you to see.

But recently a dear friend of mine (a stupid a*****e!!) broke the kick starter pinion gears. Been hunting for them since New year's eve..

    Will update when fixed.

Just one word of advice from me with regards to your bike - RVMs
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

KB 100 had its own fan followers

I owned one KB100 in the late eighties. It was for the first time a bike came with a tachometer & believe me, It was a fun to set the eyes on rpm and not the speedo. The initial models had pillion foot pegs were fitted to the swing arms. With the arrival of 99ccs such as KB, RX, CD & AX and of course the mighty RD biking was a different thrill among yester years youngsters.

He kicked it so hard that the inner gear that starts the motor broke. Had to pay my mechanic 150 bucks for just to find out the problem. Is there any suggestions on possible fit from other bikes?

Also once a week I push-start the bike just to keep its engine in good health. Ridden a lot of bikes but that throttle response in 1st and 2nd gear is just awesome!!!

I am thinking of getting cafe-racer style RVMs but am going through a major problem right now. Gotta fix that kick starter gear first.

it isnt the ratchet gear thats broken but the kicker pawl , good news is that the pawl costs around 90-100 rs only , bad news is you will have to dismantle the entire engine to replace it and its a bit difficult to find if you find buy only if its genuine bajaj part , also check your cdi unit ,

I also forgot to mention one thing. If i push the kick inward and move it a little here and there, the kick re-engages and I get only one kick to get the bike started. So i choke it up and BANG! Somehow the kick works! But I can't do this everywhere and also a certain amount of risk is there if by chance the kick goes full disfunctional.

Couldn't find it here in Guwahati. My uncle told me to wait as he has someone who can arrange for the kick pawl. Also got to know the pawl was replaced once many years back by my uncle.
