• 3rd RX to my Stable... (RXZ)

Its my pleasure to share my happiness with you all in buying my 3rd RX. Bought this 1 month back and since because of busy schedules in office I couldn't got time to write. I already have a 93 RX100, 99 RX135 4S which are currently at my native. Since I am in Mumbai and I need a bike to daily commute to my office. Searched for a Neat condition RXZ and settled for a 98 model which was in good condition with all papers clear and retest already done. Only issue was the Block was not original. 'BJ-019' was embosed on that. I don't know further details on this block. I bought an E4 OE block from a friend and rebored it to 1st OS. Since the boring was not proper I had to rebore it again to 2nd oversize and installed the same. Now the bike Is in complete OE condition except pulsar disk setup.

Need a help from experienced members for lighting setup. As I am planning to rewind the coil for a better light throw, want to put H4 halogen. I want to have the stock look with headlight fairing and mask. No round lights. So is there any reflector available which can be a direct fit for on the back cover of RXZ doom. Or with some minimal alterations. I heard that maruti 800 reflectors is a choice. Or any aftermarket whole headlight setup for the same? Is there anyone who has an H4 setup on RXZ.?

Thank you Monk. You said right. The reason is depending on the demand, people quote insane prices. Even for the spares. Z 5 Speed for 1.5lk, 135 5S for 1 lk and goes on... Now even RX hardcore lovers also think twice to buy one. I really don't feel that there is a scarcity in RX in India.

Thanks resolver. Sure will post the pics. Currently its full of mud and dirt due to the rains in Mumbai. Will take it for a diesel wash this weekend and then will post pics.

Again my question remains. Is there anyone who has installed a H4 bulb on an RXZ with mask and fairings?

no need for H4 bulb only a good halogen bulb with suzuki samarui charger will help you in stock conditions of head lights .marauti 800 headlight is good option but you have to modifications of doom for wiring , and its very tough job rest on you

Samurai charger? I didnt get you. Is it the charging coil? Or the rectifier?

Anyways heard that Maruti 800 headlight is little bigger in size and wont sit inside the rxz ring. So dropping that idea.
H4 halogen is very much better compared to the puny halogen which fits in stock rxz headlight.Light throw is horrible. I can say this as I have used both. And still using H4 on my 135.

Also the plan is to rewind the coil with KB rectifier. So at least I need 60/55 bulbs.

If yours is odd, Then mine is too...... Yes the spokes are not done properly. I have to give it for proper installation. Some minor works are pending. Just changed the block to OE bore.Earlier is was a chinese model with some BJ-019 printed on it. And the carb is now of a 5 speed.

The choke right now is having a pull type plunger like old RX100 models. I want to put cable type choke. But the L type pipe is not fitting on to the carb. Seems to be bigger than the hole in carb.

I suggest to retain the pull type choke. Worn out / bent choke cable will leave the engine running with choke (my own experience)

Personally I dont like the pull choke. For starting, we have to bent and pull the choke and kick on the kicker is a strain. its just my personal opinion. And about choke cable I had this issue when I used aftermarket cable and L pipe on my 135.I saw L pipe got jammed because of rust. But after changing to OE parts,no issue at all even after so many years.

Need to check in laith whether the thread hole on carb can be adjusted to accommodate the L pipe.

One of my RX is running with Pull type choke and I never had this issue in past. Once you get used to the location of plunger it's an easy task. But the real pain is in-gear starting.

Yes thats what I told. If its on the handle you can hold the clutch, engage the choke at a time and kick start.

Why so much of fuss about the Choke? It is going to be used only in the cold start. IMO in-gear starting won't need choke as the engine would be warm.

rishi : As i Mentioned earlier, its just my personal opinion. I find it easy when the choke lever is at the handle.

And choke is not only used in cold start. In rainy days sometimes we need choke if bike stalls in middle, That time engine will be warm. But because of some other issue bike wont start. This can happen if the air hole in tank is closed and the petrol flow is not proper, here also you need choke if your bike stalls in middle. In Normal conditions I dont require choke even in cold start also on my 3 RX's. Its well maintained.
