Re: Expansion chamber for RX 100

Finally brothers the chamber has arrived after lockdown. I'll attach the pictures. The performance gain I got on my stock rx 100 is great I'd say. The inital is same as before but the midrange & top end is tremendous. Can feel the powerband kicking in very hard.Actually was a bit scared to pull fully as I didn't expect that much acceleration from my bike. I was a bit skeptical at first but the finish is also well done. Right now just tuning the carb got the performance kick from it. My mech said upjetting is not needed. Need your opinion on this brothers. And the sound too is very low in low rpms (even lower than my stock one) but once revved hard sounds great thanks to glass wool and the bike flys. Didn't notice any drop in lower end (think improved a little). I can say this model is good for rx 100. Your thoughts are appreciated. Almost forgot, it costed me total 7000 for plating, 5 speed kick, shipping etc. Cheers.Click image for larger version

put in a new plug ride around a bit and check the colour of the insulator if it is white , you will need to upjet , mechs dont know what upjetting they will always resist , any change that they dont know or understand, pricing is steep , but glad to know you are happy with it

Finally installed 135 size main jet from rx 135 5 speed. I didn't see much difference, but the engine seems happier at higher rpms. Didn't find any bogging at opening the throttle. There is slight flutter at low rpms but adjusting the air screw made it rev clean. Attaching the pic of jet.Click image for larger version

The previous pics were great when viewed on my phone but turned out blurry after uploading. If this too turns blurry please guide me in uploading the right way. If you need more I'll upload tomorrow morning. Currently I am searching for a 135 cylinder. Came across one on 1mm requiring rebore. Some told me that good pistons above 1mm aren't available. Is it true? Below 1mm are very hard to find & the prices are also very high. Click image for larger version

pics are much better, imho if you are happy with the bike , please dont change a thing, conversion of a 100 to 135 is a costly and messy affair , even though ita plug and play

Re: Expansion chamber for RX 100

I don't want to do 140+ speeds but just need good acceleration for fun city rides &110-120 is good enough for me. Maybe porting to 5speed spec on a 4spd? Actually I came across a block requiring rebore to 1.25mm for less than 4k. I could source a top pro or nippon piston. Will this combo be any good for my need? Under 1mm bores are hard to source & very expensive. I don't want to touch the 100 block & will preserve all the components. Btw its still std size & clocked only around 12k km. Suggestions on upgrade path & part sourcing is most welcomed.

It is good to see you happy with the returns.

First off, a stock exhaust flute that is more of less retained in the same shape attached to the diffuser is not an expansion chamber really!
Remember, building the exhaust to diffuser section is the most painful part (when it comes to tacking and welding). And that's why ost replica chamber makers do not even bother making a divergent passage (takes lots and lots of sheet metal to be joined together).

But on the flip side, you are running 135 mains (not sure what pilots you running), and 135 mains is way to lean for a stock 4 speed barrel that has a different exhaust duration compared to a 5 speed.

Are you sure the engine is not heating up?

I think you have confused my rx 100 with a 135 4speed brother. The stock mains is 115 & I upjetted it to 135. The pilots are stock 12.5. The bike is not heating up and seems fine to me. Earlier at the top of rev range, It sounded rough like it's running lean. I increased the 2t oil flow and upjetted and it feels smoother now.
Anyways can I convert it to rx 135 without changing the magnet and coils but just changing the cdi? Mine is 12v btw.
