      Update on rx 135 journey.

I will blog this update as issues and solution pointers:

Issue: 1 - Had issues with front break bite force when going over speeds of 90 km/hr.

Solution: I was looking to change the front break to a disc setup. After searching for gladiator and pulsar setup, ended up buying used pulsar setup for 2k including:
      1. Disc rotor.
      2. Master cylinder and lever.
      3. Caliper and hose.
      4. Front forks set.
      5. Wheel hub.

Only the speedo worm was worn out and needed a new one. The disc does a very good job and no front wheel skidding issues till now.
The forks are a direct fit to existing T stem. The pulsar's inner fork tube seemed to be a bit rusted, so used existing inner tube with pulsar's outer fork tube.
If planning to retain the chrome mud guard need to do some careful jugad work, since the mounting dia of pulsar fork is bigger.

Issue: 2 - Clutch bell rattle which seemed to go away when disengaging the clutch.

Solution: The clutch bell and clutch boss only seemed to have very slight dent marks which was visual but cannot be felt with hands. The main culprit was the worn out damper rubber in the clutch bell. Had them replaced and clutch bell was reset. This also solved the engine hitting feel when riding in first gear usually when the bike has been ridden continuously for more time.

Now only the slight piston ring noise is remaining which am comfortable living with since it does not give that 'dhak dhak' noise while idling. That noise is a job to be carefully rectified only when next rebore happens.

      Upcoming to do list:

      1. Decided on vinyl wrapping the tank rather going for a new paint job.
      2. Other than critical parts such as frame, engine casing decided to go for DIY spray paint job for wheel hub, chain cover, handle bar etc.
      3. Bought new after market mud guards since existing one has serious damage near joints. --> Need to be given a paint coat on the inner side before mounting.

            The RX itching started again.

SO, greetings to the good people of xbhp.

Its been very long since I updated this thread mainly because of office room treatment by my father whenever I try to spend money on my RX. Bike is in same condition and running fine till now from the last update.

Even did a road trip from Chennai to Bangalore and back. Finally was able to hit the 101km/hr mark on Google speedo.

Now, I have set on a goal to make my RX run cleaner and that means :
            - using better 2t oil
            - either find the right 2t pre-mix ratio or use auto-lube pump

I am going through threads of xbhp, team-bhp and other sites, forums to get information on how to run a 2-stroke in a cleaner way without compromising the purpose of 2t oil. I will be posting my finds here as usual.

              2t oils:
I am going to start with the most commonly available brands:

Shell Advance VSX: To start off, am not sure the one being sold in India is VSX or VSX 2. In either case, both are synthetic based oils and the spec should be fairly similar:

              - API TC / JASO FC / ISO-L-EGD for VSX2 and JASO FC / EGC for VSX in India
              - Viscosity Index = 130
              - Flash Point = 132 Deg.C
              - Pour Point = -20 Deg.C

              link for spec sheet:
              https://www.qualitybearingsonline.com/content/Lubricants/MSDS%20and%20TDS%20PDFs/Shell/Shell%20Advance%20VSX%202%20TDS.pdf

Motul Moto Mix 2t: This one is kind of similar to 100 Motomix 2t in which it is a mineral oil and so am considering the following specs:

              - API TC / JASO FC
              - Viscosity Index = 107 - 110
              - Flash Point = 132 Deg.C
              - Pour point = -15 to -27 Deg.C

              https://www.motul.com/in/en/products/100-2t

Servo 2t Supreme: An Indian Oil Brand with following specs:

              - API TC / JASO FC
              - Viscosity Index = 95 - 99 (approx) or N/A
              - Flash Point = 70 Deg.C
              - Pour point = -12 Deg.C

              link for spec sheet:
              https://iocl.com/downloads/lubes/SERVO%202T%20Supreme.pdf

Mak 2t: A Bharat Petroleum Brand semi-synth oil, but the specs seems to differ within their website itself ?

              - JASO FC
              - Viscosity Index = 134
              - Flash Point = 85 - 95 Deg.C
              - Pour Point = N/A

              link for spec sheet:
              https://www.bharatpetroleum.com/Our-Businesses/MAK-Lubricants/Automobile-Lubricants/MAK-2T.aspx
              https://www.bharatpetroleum.com/images/files/MAK%202T.pdf

HP Racer 2t: A Hindustan Petroleum Brand oil.

              - JASO FC
              - Viscosity Index = N/A
              - Flash Point = 70 Deg.C
              - Pour Point = -15 Deg.C

              link for spec sheet:
              https://www.hindustanpetroleum.com/documents/pdf/TwoWheeler.pdf

Characteristics which make a 2t oil effective as well as cleaner:
              1. A good 2t oil should have higher Viscosity Index to produce good film strength and maintain it at varying temperatures.
              2. Incase of semi-synthetics, one can at-least come to know that the mix of synthetics to base oil will be higher if it has higher viscosity index and lower pour point.
              3. Lower flash points are preferred for the particles to have better burn-off during combustion.
              4. Lower ash production - Look out for Sulfated Ash percent.
              5. Also please note that many of the parameters like viscosity index, pour point will be the characteristic of the base oil used and overall rating of the oil will depend on the additives and process of manufacture which are not really public available info.
              6. Also one critical factor noticed is that as we go onto full synth, more will be the synthetic additives with better lube and detergent properties for clean engine but the sulfate ash content increases.
              7. A two stroke engine oil is granted the official JASO seal if it has been independently tested. The seal is a rectangle; in the upper quarter of the rectangle will be a serial number, and the lower three quarters will just have the letters FB, FC or FD.

I have tried motomix, vsx, servo and hp racer 2.

Initially when I bought the bike, I used to put sachets of Servo and Hp Racer 2 from bunk and they seemed to be smooth and all but caused problem with carb, throttle response and lot of smoke.
After that, started maintaining petrol refills with only shell bunks and would buy bottles of Motomix and premix myself but still had lot of smoke even with 30ml to 1lt.
Then came VSX with synthetic based tag on it, was satisfied with the smoothness of revs and used it for Bangalore - Chennai road trip too!
Yet still was not satisfied with the amount of smoke and also the smell, motomix smelled better than VSX.

Searched for a very long time for a 2t oil which could cover cost, quality and be less smoky as possible.
Of course there are the 2t favourites - Motul 800, 710 and 510. Some Motul 800's appear on flipkart to be rs.800 something for a litre and I doubt the product.

Liquimoly seems to be having fully synth and semi synth options at reasonable price.
Finally found Liquimoly semi synth on Amazon with only two stocks left. Took a leap of faith and ordered both of them. Should use and see once delivered.

Spec for Liquimoly semi synth(2t Street race):

                - API TC / JASO FC / ISO L-EGC / TISI
                - Viscosity Index = 130
                - Flash Point = 110 °C
                - Pour point = -24 °C
                - Sulfate Ash = 0.06 g/100g --> This is the lowest of all the before mentioned oils

                  About Motul 2t oils:

                  Motul 800 2t Road Racing:
                  - JASO FD
                  - Viscosity Index = 140
                  - Flash Point = 274 Deg.C

                  - spec link - https://www.motul.com/gb/en/products/800-2t-factory-line-road-racing--2

                  Motul 710 2t:
                  - JASO FD / ISO-L-EGD
                  - Viscosity Index = 148 (UK) / 175 (USA)
                  - Flash Point = 154 Deg.C (UK) / 88 Deg.C (USA)
                  - spec link
                  USA - https://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/710-2t--2
                  UK - https://www.motul.com/gb/en/products/710-2t--2

                  Motul 510 2t:
                  - JASO FD /
                  ISO-L-EGD
                  - Viscosity Index = 132 (UK) / 142 (USA)
                  - Flash Point = 144 Deg.C (UK) / 92 Deg.C (USA)

                  - spec link
                  USA - https://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/510-2t--2
                  UK - https://www.motul.com/gb/en/products/510-2t--2

Motul 800 is really not at all suitable for an Indian city rider and even a tourer with stock two strokes because of its flash point. Also, 800 is Ester based which is like the top of synthetics but pertaining to specific use cases not an all rounder.

I don't know why 710 and 510 have different specs for the US/UK. Incase of import, I think one should choose USA as Country of Origin to be safe.

About Oil Ratio and Oil supply:

                    Oil Ratio:

The topic of oil ratio comes into play only when premixing it with petrol. Although we can change ratio by controlling oil flow from pump there's no point in doing such things unless one adheres to instructions from manual.
Now, with premix the goal is to find a mixture which enables good "oil presence" in crank side and inside combustion chamber while minimising emissions since the ratio is static for all RPM range.

With semi-synthetic oils, the specified mixture ratio in their spec sheet is 50:1 which translates to 20ml/litre.
Surprisingly I found the mixture ratio in Servo Supreme 2t's and Mak 2t's spec sheet also to be 20ml/litre.

Click image for larger version Name:	image_226775.jpg Views:	3 Size:	30.5 KB ID:	2231631

With most synthetic 2t oils, the specified mixture ratio in their spec sheet is 100:1 which translates to 10ml/litre.
Even though the quality is good, there simply isn't enough quantity to maintain "oil presence" at varied RPM and temperature.

With synthetics comes higher molecular uniformity which will in turn affect the overall film retention across various temperatures. It can be seen from the following graph that synthetics with very high viscosity index tend to deteriorate the least.

Based on different throttle positions, the fuel/oil ratio supplied by various stroke length of oil pump is depicted in the following graph.
The graph is taken from an RD forum based in Britain.

                      Claimed and Certified:

As I have mentioned before, the JASO tag on any 2t oil product is certified only if the tag is displayed in a certain format. Simple lines stating the oil adheres to certain specifications are just claims.

Also one common thing with Indian oil manufacturers is the lack of proper info like Technical Data Sheet for their products. Even if one is present, there are no standards mentioned to approve of the values mentioned in the data sheet.

                        Oil Arrived after one month:

Liquimoly 2t synth oil has finally arrived after a long wait.
It is an FD rated oil with good properties on sheet. Eagerly waiting to try it out after lockdown restrictions possibly within a week.

                        - JASO FD / ISO-L-EGD
                        - Viscosity Index = 165
                        - Flash Point = 98 Deg.C
                        - Pour point = - 48 Deg.C

                          Liquimoly synthetic 2t oil usage:

A reserve amount of petrol with previous mix was still left. Anyhow, I mixed almost 125ml of oil to 5 litres of petrol on top of it. The ratio is about 40:1. I will summarise the changes felt:
                          1. Carburettor was happy with no jitters at low speed - higher gear ride with throttle cut off.
                          2. Pickup was on point in all gears without the spongy feel to throttle.
                          3. No visible smoke once temperature is reached at idle and when rode sane.
                          4. Cracking past 1/2 throttle does let out smoke which is a major downer for me. Because, the oil ratio is on the lower side and feels like it starves oil at 80 kmph (obviously). I expected zero visible smoke since engine temperature is well above ideal at those conditions and oil had lesser flash point.
                          5. I think atleast for the FD tag, it does have good detergent properties. Because, the note of my bike completely changed even at low speeds as if it were ported. Before, I have noticed my bike giving out that kind of note only after riding continuously at high speeds for sometime and the exhaust port getting flushed properly. (I have stock silencer, with stock muffler)
                          6. From my experience, for city ride till 60kmph, 40:1 is the ideal ratio without giving out smoke for stop and go conditions. For highway ride, 25:1 felt the right amount.
                          Overall experience was average.

Edit: I added 25ml more oil making the ratio 33:1. Bike felt free with reduced vibrations at 95-100kmph (Google maps speedo).
