I've always been the kinda guy that thought that the bikes that come loaded with new techs are much much better than a bike that for instance was last sold some 20 years ago........but after reading some topics in this 2strokers thread i was fascinated by the amount of time, effort and money you guys are willing to put into these old bikes......then i realised that it doesn't matter if the bike is brand new or 25 years old....what matters is what one feels when one rides it...

and now i can see that these strokers may be old but in no way any less than say an rtr or an fz

btw:nice work on the restore there mate
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

I totally agree with you...I have a Suzuki Fiero and a Suzuki MAX100R. I mostly ride my fiero to college...But whenever I ride my MAX100R, its just feels so different and so herioc...and that too with a commuter-oriented MAX100R!!, I can't imagine how it would be to ride a beast like Shogun...the exhaust noise of a 2-stroke has no parallel...

Here are a couple of pictures of my 2000 model shogun - the only concession from being stock are the wheel brake hubs painted in black to go with the overall "Bad Black Bike" look of the shogun (the original hubs were silver - hope you guys like my restoration Cheers !

Congratulations! Thats a very nicely restored Shogun, looking brand new from the showroom. Would suggest you start a new thread and pen down the complete process and details that you have done in the restoration. Will be a real inspiration for fellow shogunites who are planning to restore their shoguns. And also a few close-up pictures to admire your beauty closely

                  Cheers!!

Thanks for the good comments guys - I will upload more pics of the shogun in detail. and try and pen the rebuild process as well ! I just love the Shogun - (the RX 100 - I like too but too many of them around) the streets of Chennai had been missing the roar of the Shoguns beat from the 1990's made me sad so i decided to get one - and do it up so well...as if it was straight from a time capsule !!! and re - release it bak into the wilderness of the roads these days infested with commuting 4 strokes .... you wouldnt believe the attention she gets at the traffic lights ! I even have an ex TVS employee pestering me to sell the shogun to himm (ha ha he can keep on dreaming)

Well for starters the bike has brand new - N.O.S bore + Pistons / N.O.S brake shoes, TVS Suzuki N.O.S oil pump / TVS clutch plates (the original black racing plates are still evading me and I am looking out if anyone can help me find a set would be greatful)

even the quality OK sticker on the instruments and switch gear are there
I'm not Riding FAST, I'm just Flying LOW....

I feel Shogun was just re-launched. There are not many Shoguns on road in good shape. Yours is really a special one.

One of the sexiest guns i have ever seen.

                              Thanks Karthik,

You will be surprised at how hard I had to hunt for original spares - I avoided local spares as if It was the plague itself lol ! - I have restored my AJS 16 Ms and 1941 G3L over the weekends in my house and spares for even these rare british machines are relatively easier to source compared to the Shogun - Shocking really !

By and large I have managed to stock a decent inventory of Shogun spares for the future. and I hope to pass on the knowledge of my restoration experiences in bikes to fellow enthusiasts !

Its always nice to know we salvaged yet another bike from the scrap yard and put life into it ! always brings fond smiles and good memories when people remember their youth and college days when they see good stock bikes like this Shogun ! Service to humanity you can even call it ehh ! LOL
