with prices of RX spares shooting sky high in the name of unavailability and use of only genuine spares is a big reason for the expensive rebuild. for 20k a rebuild can be had too but with compromises.Originally posted by arvindraju

never knew RX rebuilds are so expensive
a few rough figures--
1.painting- 5k
2. engine, 5 speed gearbox n perf mods-- 15k
3.chrome- 3-4k
4. tyres-2500
5.cosmetic parts viz new meters 1300, seat-1000, lights-1000, switches+wiring-1000, complete front end-6500

I agree with you Yamdoot, restoring and modifying an RX135 costs more than 40K.. I spent the same on my RXG-135(5-Speed)ONLY GOD WILL JUDGE ME

Depends upon the condition of the bike. If major components like carb, cylinder kit, crank, etc are in good condition then rstoration can be done in 12-15k also.Originally posted by arvindraju

But if needs replacement of parts, then it becomes very expensive affair. Carb-Rs.2100/-, Cylinder Kit-Rs.6k, Mudguard-Rs.950, crank-Rs.3500, etc... list goes on...when you add all these up
One has to worry about the future too :-(
But one thing I would like to say is, what can we hope to get for Rs.40-50k in the market today? Can we compare that to RX? When you think like that it starts making sense

Mak 2T is semi synthetic. Most people don't know that as its not mentioned on the bottle.Originally posted by arvindraju View PostGood nitin well don ! nicely Written !
Would like a just one Point Most bikes / Rebuild go bad or gives problems becos of Usage of Bad Quality of Oil. Your Normal 2T Oil like:
* Yamalube 2T
* Shell 2T White/Green Can
* BP MAK 2T
* Castrol 2T Racing
* Indianoil Servo
are just normal mineral oil,wont give your Engine what Motul can do for a 2T engine,Motul 800 2T is the best Gift you can give to your 2T bike.
i have said in the past/telling now too,all the bangalore guys can join together can order a crate of Motul 800 (12 cans) from the motul distributor so that we can get a good pricing,everybody seems very happy running the ordinary mineral oil.
Are you sure the 800 can be used in the oil tank?Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostFinally you decide to grace this thread
Sorry, no offence meant.
Problem with 800 is it cannot be used in the pump. I know Pradeep(pyscho) has remarked somewhere in this forum that one can use it just that it will empty early. However, company recommends it only as a pre-mix.
I think Motul 510 is the best one coz it can be used in both pre-mix & pump forms, FD specification + cheaper. Sadly, still not available in Bengaluru.
I'm on my 3rd liter of 510 and still have 1 bottle at home. Its a superb oil. Really makes the bike smooth. I still think its too expensive for everyday use though.Originally posted by BigBore View PostMotul 510 2T(Rs.425/ltr) Technosynthese is for 2 stroke motorcycles. Smokeless formulation. Oil injection or pre-mix. Compatible with catalytic converters.
Standards: API TC – JASO FD/FC – ISO-L-EGD
It is the best for regular use with the pump and
Motul 800 Factory Line Road Racing/Off Road (Rs.750/ltr) 100% Synthetic is with double ester technology to provide maximum engine performance and prevent binding even under high stresses at high temperature. Pre-mix lubrication only.
It works great for long distance rides as i do Mumbai-Pune regularly. I do use both on all my 3 bikes and also recommend the same to other fellow 2-strokers
Cheers!!
Petronas is cheaper but the full synthetic is over and they will only order it now if there is a big order as its a very slow moving item.
Arun, how exactly do you use the 800 on long rides?Last edited by Bladerunner; 04-11-2010, 08:12 PM.

^ I don't think 800 can be used in the oil tank and thats what I've mentioned in my earlier post that you have quoted.
You Mumbai & Pune guys are lucky
No luck with 510 here in Bengaluru.
Also, can somebody read the attachment and make sense out of it? I didn't quite understand what its trying to say w.r.t to ash content & synthetic oils.
MODS: I am sorry, I don't have the link to the source. It is on my comp, don't remember where I got it from.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

says that synthetic 2 T oil is good for the engine, prolongs life, lesser deposits etc.
This is a rotax/bombardier document, documenting the type of oils, and their observed impact on their engines, but pretty much is applicable to all.
so now i gotta search for a good synth or semi synth oil in delhi!!!

Basically the ash content of the oil suited to the engine depends on the factors -
- performance/power
- cooling available
- ring temperature
A higher ash content oil will be needed to suitably lubricate the engine which has a higher performance/power output, and the deposit will accordingly be burnt/taken out with the exhaust.
A lower ash content oil can be used for a low power engine which does not have as much heat production, so the lubricating properties hold for that temperature range.
This is what i make of it. Others can have a better explanation maybe.
