      Hi all,
Does the xbhp forum have a separate thread for RD350 Spares? need a set of Meters and switches for my LT.

Sad to see ZMA vs DTSi quarrel go on for 19 pages but none of the topic on RD 350 go for more than 3 pages. Its a shame for all of us (XBHPIANS). We should always respect RD 350 as it was (is and remain for a lng time) king of all performance bikes in India. I dont know why Escorts stopped the production of RD 350. Any body have any clue? I want to know the cause.

Cut to the year 1983 ...

        Enfield bullet costs Rs 11,300

        RD350 Rs 22000

        Ind-Suzuki (1984) cost rs 7000

Also all Bullets were positive earth bikes RDs were negative earth ... crazy untrained mechs wired bikes incorrectly and busted the rectifiers ....

Spares cost a bomb and FE was a lousy 18kmpl ...

That's why the RD was pulled out ...

BTW the cost of the RD when its released in the summer of 1983 was Rs.16000/- ex-showroom in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. 27 years ago when i saw the ad (News paper) that the bike was on display at the showroom, i rushed there to have a look at it (even carried a camera ). booked the bike by paying Rs.1500/-. kept on waiting for one year, and i couldn't get it. so finally i canceled the booking.

Here is the 27 Year old picture of the RD at Showroom, which survived with me. can be used a reference picture for RD Restoration.

Though you had opted out to buy the RD, I'm sure this picture would really bring back the memories of that day when you clicked this picture. I would think this picture considered as treasure among those things you value most.

I have seen many RD pictures and advertisements came in media posted on the internet. This picture which was taken at the showroom with some facts of RD displayed on the black board at the background and dates 27 years back is something PRICELESS !!

I always love to see some casual pictures of RD being used those days on road. I have seen some Jawa bikes on movies and some old photograph collections. However, have not seen much pictures of RD's used during the 80's.

yes mate, its absolutely a priceless treasure, but i didn't retain the booking receipt and a two page News letter called "The Highway Man" send to me by Escorts Limited which had an article about the RD's participation in a Moto-cross event (Yes Moto-cross) in the North, and another article about the Legendary Kenny Roberts & his machine. I'm young & foolish in those days for not preserving those treasures with me.
