darius, how tall are you,see regarding butt aches,i know pulsar owners who done 800Km in 21 hrs. And they survived..LOL...i mean its a matter of getting used to it. BTW ur in mumbai rite...well i will be getting a custom touring seat for my pulsar soon,i will surely invite u to come over and try it.i think the things u talking about can be overcomed easily.Fastening luggage is easy with help of bungee cords and bungee nets.

I feel the thunderbirds seat is comfy enough and does not require a change.

HEY DARIUS LIGHTINING WIL BE THE BEST BIKE B'COZ IT HAS GOT LOADS OF TORQUE(38)BUT IF WE CONSIDER ALL FACTORS (MILEAGE)TBIRD WIL DO.LAST TIME WHEN I WENT 2 manali some austrians were leaving for leh and ladakh on bullet500 they said that enfeild(any model)is best 4 these kind of tourings b'coz of torque.
there bikes have customized seats+ 3 huge boxes 2 on sides and 1 on back 4 luggage.the fellow who rented them bikes said everybody takes bullet500 or shogun(i dont know why).IN TERMS OF COMFORT ELIM. AND AQUILA CAN BE CONSIDERED BUT 4 SUCH A LONG TRIP MAINTANENCE IS ALSO A POINT WE SHOD CONSIDER(SPARES IF SOMETHIN GOES WRONG A PLUS POINT OF T BIRD).

hi darius .. I'll say either take a bullet with u on the journey OR a good bike that can cruise at 60-80 comfortably.

Belive me after doing 750+km after riding for 21hrs with some small breaks ... u hardly will like to rip the bike for too long.

Bullet I'll say u go for so that u can easily get a comfortable seat custom made for it + it can let u carry lots of luggage due to the tons of torque it has.

Other bike I'll suggest if u r very comfortable riding it.

Unless u plan to cover 800+km in a day ne descent bike should be ok.

I personally will prefer to ride my fiero.

not as far as i know.at high altitude u may want to turn the mixture richer though.
Rajnish , at high altitude air is thinner ( less dense ) , so the fuel mixture actually would becoem rich . Instead for high altitude , the fuel mixture should be made leaner compared to low-altitudes , right ?

Darius , I'd suggest the Bullets , mainly coz they can carry much more luggage than Karizma , CBZ and Pulsar . Bullets being common for touring , mechanics and spares should be less troublesome to find too .

And the Auila is a Hyosung , ie Korean bike , not Japanese ( but I suppose the Koreans simply did a Ulhasnagar copy of a Japanses bike ).

at higher altitude air is thin with less oxygen.the turning in on a cv carb will make air flow only richer i guess.and if u want good compromise on everything then the t'bird is best.karishma won't suit such long journies.

Arpan i've conquered Mumbai to Goa, I guess this one was the longest. Rest of the places conquered are Pune, Alibag, Matheran, Panchgani and Uran (All being one day trips except panchgani i.e.go and return on the same day)
