thanks .. i chose mysore-HD kote - mananthavady-kalpetta route so that we can break the monotony and explore sm new route and this route did not disapppoint..
Roads are good for the most part, but total off roading for about 15kms while you do the nagarahole wild life stretch.. You will only see traces of tar and most part slush or mud. We are not allowed to enter the sanctuary and hence gotta take a left deviation going through village roads, lots of fun!!!

Although this thread caused me more pain than made me happy. We did this whole stretch in the dark and I sorely regret missing this.

The trip meter showed a total of 900kms in three days. Fortunately, only encountered rain while we entered Wayanad the first day. Got drenched well before reaching Kalpetta.
Biggest problem faced was food, both of us being veggies this really meant just one universal option in all hotels - Kerala parata sir
Other head ache was booze, they don't sell it as we do through the retail stores - its usually like a ration shop, just one per town and every damned day we had to go to that ultra crowded place and get booze!!! I burst out laughing when we saw the brands, cudnt make out a single known one, except the full bottles
For the road condition part - 90% of the roads are in great shape, even for 4 wheelers. Occasional patches of pot holes was all we encountered(excepting the already mentioned nagarahole WLS stretch - I was glad I owned a bull ).

Wow, lovely. Wayanad has always been in our thoughts when my friends and I decide to go for a ride but have never done it yet . I can see that you've just passed through Wayanad, can you suggest any nice place to stay there and let me know the must visit places there. Planning to do a trip in Dec this year and I think I wouldn't miss it this time

Guess there's always a second chance Adding a pinch to your pain : the roads from Kalpetta leading to Banasura Sagar are so curvaceous that you ll never have one sinlge whole minute to relax and loosen the grip on the clutch . In fact, on the way back, it was dark, a slight drizzle, slippery road and I just over did a curve - was one of the few times in my life that got me scared badly!!!

THanks, this place is very serene and scenic.. but really was pissed off with the crowd at some hyped tourist spots...
We stayed at a resort in Lakkidi - Tea Trees - 99951 00955
The place is very good and got a bargain of Rs1000/night without food.
Better book in advance.

Usual tourist spots are :
Pookot lake - around 5kms from Lakkidi
Soochipara falls - around 25kms from Lakkidi ( maddedning crowd, came back in 5 min)
Meenmutti falls - could not go
Banasura Sagar Dam - some 30kms from Kalpetta - closes at 17:00 hrs, we reached at 18:00
Calicut - 60kms from Lakkidi
Edakkal caves
Sultan bathery

Ya this would surely help, Thanks and mostly I would like to stick to somewhere near Kalpetta so would surely visit Sulthan Bathery, will skip Lakkidi. Would get in touch with you if i need any further help.
