Hi Mahesh,
Thanks man ! She is amazing our 21 year old KiHo. Had doubts initially if she would be able to take up the ride, but she proved that she,s one tough girl. Anyway, as I had mentioned earlier, we plan to ride her to Goa next April. Will keep you guys posted as and when it happens.

Hi there bro.

Hope you saw the pic of our Kiney. It was from an earlier trip to Goa. We always used to take her by train and then ride her in Goa. Next April we decided to test her out by riding all the way. Will keep you guys posted as it happens. Meanwhile, Bangalore/Kanyakumari/Bangalore next month on RX 100.

Like I said fun and adventure is more fun when unexpected. Never planned to make the ride on our Kiney, but after we did it we knew what a big heart she hides in her innocent looks. We decided to ride her to Goa next April, will be hard but sure will be fun

Planned to ride down to Coorg (Mercara) on the 10th of last month. We (wife and me) usually do it on a Yamaha RX 100. At the last moment the bike became unavailable due to technical problems. We were really dissapointed since we made all plans and even contacted some homestays to stay at.

Decided we are going anyway, but we only had our 1989 model Kinetic Honda scooter available. Okay we said its about 270 k.m one way, let have a go.
Left early (about 5.30 a.m). Its the best time to avoid the traffic in Bangalore city.

The first thing you notice as you ride is that for the scooter 60 kmph is the optimum top speed. For us normally used to doing 80 to 100 on the highways, its quite a crawl. But even at a steady 60, you can cover quite some distance comfortably. The advantage is you can take in the sights and smell the flowers, so to speak.

8.am Maddur. Breakfast at Maddur Tiffanys. Took the bye pass onto Hunsur road after Srirangapatna.

Thankfully, the roads were superb except at Kushalnagar and near Madikeri. The ride was relaxed and cool though we had to take quite a few short breaks to stretch.

Reached Madikeri by afternoon and checked in to East End Hotel. Rode around Madikeri (Abbey falls, Rajas Seat). Returned on the 12th, visited Tibetan Golden Temple and The Shrine of St.Anthony near Periyapatna.

Reached home by evening, a little stiff (logged about 620 k.m), but cheers and kudos to our 21 year old Kinetic Honda scooter. Not too bad for the tough old girl uh ?

Planning to ride her to Goa next April. (we usually take it by train).

Meanwhile, doing Bangalore/Mysore/Calicut/Trivandrum/Kanyakumari/and back next month on the RX100.

It was a different kind of ride but fun. Really didn't expect the old girl (the Kiney I mean

) to be so tough.
Leaving this Friday on RX 100 to Trivandrum and hopefully up to Kanyakumari.

Somehow i've missed this thread last year but so good to know about your trip. It shows that age, bike and nothing else matters when you have a "biker" heart ! Kudos to you and your better half for a lovely trip like this. And it's a great blessing to get an equally enthusiastic better half like this
