  • [Photo Feature]: Mekedatu on a bright sunny Saturday

This is the first photo from the camera that day. I never thought of the photos will be that good.

This I took macro mode. Never expected this.

I must suggest to go near this lake in the morning. It is so pleasant there.

Now it is time to take some good pics of my baby.

    Nice pose by my girl.

Now it is time for me to pose. Thanks to my bro for this pic.

I don't know what this BMTC bus was doing here in the early morning.

We started again and reached Kanakpura at around 7.30 AM. Till Kanakpura the road was good and I ready enjoyed the ride in a average speed of 40-50 kmph.

Some parts of the road was bad, but one way good as natural speed breakers.

The road with no traffic. Not like Mysore road.

This was taken just before to kanakpura.
By the time we reached Kanakpura we are totally hungry and needing to settle down the tummy soon possible. And I was not sure after kannakpura, if we were gonna get any breakfast. So found one place on the main road. Plan was to take the breakfast some where before to Kannakpura on the NH209. But did not get any place like that. Breakfast was not good, but as a regular option I took idli wada and satisfied with that. Big B was disappointed with masala dosa. With no much delay, we started again. With some inquiry in my own kannada, managed to get the route details .

Happy with Karnataka government for this kind of boards.
On the way we met one person from Bangalore Mr. Umesh. Mr. Umesh was travelling to some near by place for some business purpose. He suggested us to ditch Mekedatu and head towards chamrajpet - BR Hills. He gave the details of the forest officer there and suggested for a night stay there. We were very much thankful to him. But as we did not have any proper plan, route map and other gears, we decided to stick with the base plan. First we took the left diversion from the man way to Chunchi falls. We reached there and did not find any falls near by and we were alone there. Thought that it was a bad idea to come here and again headed for Mekedatu.

Some bad patch on the way to Mekedatu.

Green field of ground nut. I we saw the primary things they cultivate are corn and ground nut. We could not see anything other than that.

Some water supply at chunchi falls. Hopefully for Bangalore.

From here we could only see the boards from local police station. But no sight of any water fall.

    I am a decent rider.

    Some photography tricks.
On the way to Mekedatu, there was a small ghat with three hair pin bents. We could able to find some place to park at one of the bents and some photography again.

    My Big B.

    My GF.

Finally at around 9 AM we reached Mekedatu and found some two legged animals. We paid INR 10/- for bike to get in to the area. Man!!!! what was that no animal from out side there too. Place was quite good and two rivers are full of water. It was nice to see the sangam of two rivers. I parked the bike and took the boat ticket of INR 40/- to get other side. The boat was horrible and dangerous. Any how we could manage to get the other side of the river.

This is one river and the other river is joining this river from the left.

When we reached the other side, we saw buses are there to take up to Mekedatu. And our goodness, no body was ready to take us as less passengers. We waited there for 15 min and finally started for a trek. It was a bright sunny day and I was with my textile riding jacket. I was boiling inside . First one kilometer was good, but after that we felt dehydrated.

The way to get in the wood.

    It was so dry .

It is me with my riding jacket and helmet.

The river was flowing on the one side of the road.

Took some water and again started. I suggest to take the bus if it is a sunny day, as it is a dry jungle and difficult to find a shed. Mean while we saw one group of buffalo rushing towards us and they suddenly stopped. I got scared and thought they were planning for a attack, but actually they got scared of us may be looking me in my riding jacket. And finally they started escaping from us making two groups. Still to go, it is not 4.5 KM ohhhh noooooooooo.. We were so tired, we thought that we already crossed the place and might be in a wrong way. But soon we heard the sound of the bus and they crossed us too. Finally we reached the place to see the water fall and we are totally dehydrated. And I had to spent INR 25/- for water.

I was just checking the depth from there. It is around 70 -80 feet. One can not survive, if falls from here. In fact one guy from my office fell down last week and died.

It is a high current here. Hope in rain it will be even more.

To reach this place you have to trek down for 200M and while returning my brother got fully dehydrated and he has his knee operated. So we took the bus to return back and paid extra INR 5/- for each. Generally it is INR 40/- for up and down. We were very hungry by that time, so quickly took one of the boat and came to the other side, where we parked the bike. At that time I saw some hot girls coming and realized did a mistake by coming so early . Next time I will consider this factor. I was full wet with sweat, just removed my riding jacket and got freshen up with water. As we could not able to get good place to settle down our stomach, decided to have our lunch on the highway after Kannakpura. It was a nice ride till Kannakpura as there was hardly any traffic.

Had a nail in rear tire, lucky enough to manage with that till Bangalore.

Was checking the front wheel for damage.

It was around 12.30 PM we reached Kannakpura with hungy sad tummy, but could not find any good place for lunch. Finally just after Kannakpura on the right hand side we found "Kannak In Family", a family restaurant and thought of taking a risk. But it was a good value of money. We ordered one Jeera rice, one Paneer Muglai and two butter milk of total INR 120/-. And believe me the taste and quantity was so good, we could able to settle down with that. Next time onwards, I can trust this place to settle down my tummy.

This is the Paneer Muglai. Sorry forgot to take the other items.

Finally at around 1.45 PM we set our self for Bangalore. Saw some nice cute engineering college girls on the way near to some engineering college asking for lift to come Bangalore. Felt unlucky as riding already with a pillion. We took a break near to the same lake again for some time to relax. And this time my brother started clicking pics from all side.

This is a nice click from my brother.

Finally we reached Bangalore at around 3 PM and the bad road near Bansankri and the Bangalore traffic took us another one and half hour to reach home. Hope soon I can plan for the next ride.
Please use all possible safety measures while riding and remember others also riding on the same road...

Place is not that good, but the ride was awesome. Sivamasamudram seems to be much better.
