Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

Thank you Dhiraj. Well it's not exactly a DIY setup nor did I buy the entire setup from any shop. It's just a small non branded camera which my friend got for me.

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

              Day 4
              Goa - Gokarna - Murudeshwar

Since it was my cousin's wedding on 22nd November, I couldn't ride anywhere. The entire day was spent at the wedding and it was really amazing. It was for the first time I attended a Goan wedding and what fun it was. Their traditions, their rituals were a bit different than the what I had seen in weddings in Mumbai. At night, when everyone had settled down at home, I told my parents that I may leave for a small Karnataka ride next morning. At first my mom started shouting at me(nothing new, she shouts at me before every ride trying to convince me how dangerous it is to ride these days of course she's not wrong at all...) and said no, but then, when I told her I'll be visiting Gokarna, Murudeshwar, Udipi etc. she thought for a moment and had a chat with my father. That's because even she wanted to visit Gokarna since a very long time. Last she had been to Gokarna was some 40 odd years ago with mt granny. To my surprise Dad too agreed for a trip next morning and with the help of my uncle they arranged a car for the picnic. All of a sudden my ride was in even greater trouble Everyone started suggesting me why to ride? Accompany them in car itself.. Gosh.. only I know how I managed to convince them after hours of discussion and buttering

My parents coming in a car was helpful for me in two ways.. 1) I didn't have to carry any luggage with me as it was dumped in the car and 2) When at the destination, no need to carry along riding gear and helmet. Yohoo.. how I wish I get a back up van for all my rides So finally 5 people were set to visit beautiful Karnataka next day, me, my mom n dad, my aunt and my granny.

From here on, it'll be more of a photo log. I'll let the pics do the talking. Like every other trip, everyone was up and ready early in the morning. The rented car arrived On time and we were off towards NH17 via Marcella, Bhanastari. As mentioned in previous parts of the log, roads in Goa were butter smooth and we had no trouble crossing one village after the other in Goa. Crossing Madgaon, Ponda, Bori etc we were cruising towards Karnataka. I was a bit worried as the sky was overcast and I wasn't carrying any rain protective gear except the inner liner of my RJays jacket. The only good thing was that I could keep my electronics in the car if it rained.

This time, I couldn't stop for photography every now and then because that would have meant stopping the car as well. Which was not a good idea. My dad would have got furious had I done so.. Therefore, clicked a few pics on the go..

Some sort of fort or museum on the way

              A shipyard or something

It was a non stop riding after this picture until we crossed the Goa - Karnataka border. Sometime later, the car driver brought the car to a halt near a temple and so did I. It's a small roadside temple of tree Ganesha. Very beautiful and amazing. People found this tree while the highway was being constructed, told the local villager.

You can see the cloudy in the pic..

              Lovely highway..

Sometime later, it actually started raining. Though I didn't want a wet ride, it actually helped in bringing the temperature down. Surroundings also looked more beautiful after the rain. Fortunately it was just a light drizzle and not a heavy down pour.

Thankfully rain didn't last long and skies opened soon.

Karnataka is a beautiful state to ride through. Lot of bridge crossings and spectacular sights all along the highway.

By the time I clicked this pic, it was almost 11 am and everyone had started feeling hungry as we didn't have a proper breakfast in the morning. A few minutes later, we stopped by a decent looking hotel for breakfast.
Our morning breakfast for the day.. Tasty and filling!

One thing I must say, that is, food is very cheap in Karnataka In very little amount we had tasty and filling food.

Back on the butter smooth NH17..

Riding for a few more kms, we came to the junction where we turned right for Gokarna. Gokarna is situated some 10 Kms off the NH17. When we reached Gokarna, parked the car and bike in a shade, dumped the riding gear and the footwear in the car before heading towards the temple.

A Ganesh temple on the way to Shiva temple.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside and around the main Shiva temple. Therefore no pics of the Beautiful and very ancient temple. Managed to click only one pic of the temple from the outside.

Gokarna beach! Although the water looks beautiful, the seashore was highly polluted with plastics and all sorts of filth.

Locals selling accessories.. Btw, a LOT of foreign tourists were there at Gokarna.

There's another small temple approximately 1 Kms away from the Gokarna's Shiva temple on a hill. Cars and Bikes can go till the base of the temple and there after one has to climb a few stairs.

Gokarna beach as can be seen from the Hill..

After spending sometime on the hill we descended the hill and entered the main market once again for the return journey. First my mom did some shopping for herself and for my girlfriend, then we all had lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Ratha, which is probably used only during festive season..

When we were back on NH17 once again and heading towards Murudeshwar, I was expecting same sort of fun filled smooth ride. But I was highly disappointed after some time.. Road simply started getting from good to bad and from bad to worst as moved towards Murudeshwar. It was literally as if we were driving/riding through a war zone or on moon. Roads full of deep craters and potholes.. It turned into a very demanding and tiring ride. On my way, saw directions towards Yana caves and a few known places. Wish I could visit them but we were short on time

Managed to click only one pic between Gokarna and Murudeshwar as the ride had spoiled all my mood..

I have specially recorded a video to show you guys how bad the road was..

After a really bad ride we reached Murudeshwar and boy I could feel all the efforts and pain worth it. Could feel the fatigue disappear as I saw the HUGE Grand entrance of the temple.

Visit to the Murudeshwar temple was a spellbinding experience. Nothing can describe the grandness of temple, no pictures, nothing. You simply got to see it to believe it. Simply amazing.

The camera lens problem spoiled this pic But couldn't resist posting Nandi's pic..

              Finally that's me..

              Huge Shiva Idol!

This pic will give you some idea about the grandness of the structure.

The place was so beautiful that we didn't realize we spent too much time admiring it. We were worried because we didn't want to ride/drive the through the bad patch of NH17 after dark and to do so we were supposed to reach Gokarna before it gets dark. We hurriedly left the place and started the return journey.

As planned we crossed Gokarna before dark and were in good tarmac. But unfortunately, our car driver wasn't that experienced with night driving and hence the speed came down considerably as it started getting dark. I was automatically forced to ride slow with the car . On our way we had our evening breakfast somewhere near Karwar and dinner at Madgaon in Goa finally reaching our place very late in the night. It was a day well spent, knowing and exploring into a different world. I had never visited Karnataka via NH17. One of a kind experience. The ancient historical Gokarna and the Grand Murudeshwar, both the places left me wondering till I fell asleep.. A truly lasting experience.!
              .
              .
              .

              Day 5 log coming soon..
Visit to Shantadurga temple in Goa and Goa's night life
