                Day 12: Delhi - Jaipur - Ajmer - Beawer 430kms / 8hrs

Delhi was freezing and I was enjoying the comfort of home since 3days now. I had to move out today if I wanted to reach Mumbai on the desired day.

Waited for some sun and started the journey ahead around 11am. Plan was to reach Udaipur, if possible, and get one whole day to see the city and relax.

Roads are not in a great condition after Delhi, towards Jaipur. You don't get the highway feel (NH8). Bypassed Jaipur and then roads get beautiful, but again till Ajmer only. Re-construction work was going on, which slowed down my pace. It was getting dark and Udaipur was still 200kms. I started looking out for a place to halt for the night as riding on one side of the road, with two-way traffic, was getting too much for me. Couldn't locate a lodge on the highway after Ajmer. Stopped at a Dhaba, which seemed to have some rooms in the backyard. Not great, but no option. Slept for a early morning start to Udaipur.

I guess after taking the GVK Expressway after Jaipur, you continued your way on the NH8. Although this is the actual GQ, but NH76 is a great option. You should have taken a left from kishangarh which would have taken you through a more scenic and a deserted landscape with butter smooth roads.

Despite of being longer than NH8, its saves you a whooping 1 hour and 30 minutes to Udaipur!

^^ ..and I was aware of this through your thread only!
But dunno why, wanted to stick to the GQ, and left the NH76 for some other day.
