am a cast iron fan and have been with this for more than 8yrs now (Lightning 535)have done 55k kms with this, dont use this for local usage....only for touring. never had problems in any of the rides, rather not even a puncture till date...

+1 to that, On all of these counts RE wins hands down as a tough tourer

comparison

guys we all know so far the best touring missiles in india are
1. karizma
2. Thunderbird and other bullet range
3. avenger
i listed it based on their higher displacement. of course higher only better for touring(personal opinion). may some other bikes are also better, i mean the 220. wat u guys say...
so wat are the pros and cons of above mentioned bikes. owners are most welcome.

Answering the question purely from the intent as you wanted...

What makes a good tourer
Cosmetic
- A good wind shield to protect you from wind blast
- Powerfull lights
- Comfortable Seats
- higher Ground clearance
- Comfortable stance
- ability to strap luggage (avoid plastic)

Machinery
- A torquey mill
- A smooth gearbox
- Vibe free at contact points, (Handle bar, tank, foot pegs)
- Loads of torque lower in the RPM
- A decently big fuel tank to take you 500KMs atleast

PS: There are people who tour on Ambition, CBZ, or even the R15. I know someone who has toured India on a Bajaj M80. Would you do that? or want to do that? Ofcourse its more about the rider than the ride. There are people who would soon buy the Gs1200 and will use it for a weekend ride to show off!

But given an option... If Mahindra Mojo is altered with the above mentioned config as an option? Comes for same price like the CBR... would you want it?

I don't know about Mojo but if there exist a bike with these options then I will buy it over CBR

a good fuel tank.
luggage racks.
good shock absorbers
good lightings(headlights)
comfortable seating n handle bars position
should not be too heavy

how about ABS,which only an RTR have now.....
