Superb Image Praveen. The Milkway looks so nice with Stars all around..

When I saw this image in the Camera, I was pretty sure it will look far better in the Big screen when Amplified..

You should have joined us Praful. We had a super weekend but it ended too soon. With a place like this, sightseeing takes a back seat. Just sit around, laze all day, chill out, joke a bit, pig out on the awesome spread of coorgi dishes, etc.

Fantastic one. Where I was put up there were a bit clouds on and off, could not get a proper night sky shot!

My plans were made in the last minute, so kind of a unplanned trip plus it started a day later. Else would have joined.

My only grouse Gonikoppal is that its in South Coorg, I somehow like the northern region as its a bit more hilly

Keep me posted of any Coorg plans, big Momo's and Pandi curry fan, frequent Coorg every few months..

                        • I'll post the report over the weekend. In the meantime, here are the pics from my humble point & shoot camera.

The flowers were clicked at the garden in the homestay. Very beautiful and serene.

Highly recommended if you want to have a quiet getaway.

                            • Last year, we planned to ride and stay over at Coorg but we ended up going to Wayand instead as accommodation was not available.

I had been to this homestay with my family earlier (by car) and i loved the homestay experience. I had since wanted to ride to this place (situated on the outskirts of Coorg in a tiny place called Gonikoppal) on my ninja with my buddies and just chill out. No full blown sightseeing, just chill at the location surrounded by vast greenery.

The weekend of 2nd April was a long weekend since 4th April was a holiday on account of Ugadi. Made bookings weeks ahead and managed to find 2 rooms for Sat night but sun night we had only one room for ourselves.

Confusion prevailed. For folks riding down from Chennai, it wasn't worth the effort for just a night's stay. Thanks to the always helpful owner couple, they provided us with 2 rooms (for 5 people) at their bungalow in addition to the room we had booked. These rooms are not let out to guests and are for visiting family and relatives of the owners.

So accommodation taken care of, we started the planning exercise. After a few PM's, sms's and calls we were all set with 9 riders for this trip.

                              1. Sunnyside up - Ninja 250R (Chennai)

                              2. Xinfii - Ninja 250R (Chennai)

                              3. karthiktup - Yamaha R15 (Tirupur)

                              4. n_aditya - Ninja 250R (Bangalore)

                              5. Alok - Ninja 250R (Bangalore)

                              6. Rajiv - Ninja 250R (Chennai)

                              7. Ark (Reggie) - Ninja 250R (Bangalore).

                              8. Mav1234567890 - P220 (Blore).

                              9. ZerotoSixty (Vijay) - R15 (Chennai).

Made reservations at Empire, Church St. for Sunny and Rajiv for 1st April. Had taken a leave on this day due to personal commitments on the home front so i ended up meeting them in the city and having a super friday evening.

Rajiv and Sunny reached Blore by lunch time and I met them shortly afterwards. We headed to the HD showroom where Sunny tested the Street Bob (). He loved it and after a long talk with Tusker on custom options we decided to head to a watering hole. Hours of standing and talking with the tuskers made us thirsty.

After some watering i bid them goodbye and headed home. Vijay had already reached Blore and was scheduled to meet us at the designated meeting point. Xinfii was staying over in Krishnagiri and we had decided to meet at Mc Donalds on Mysore road. Karthik was riding from Ooty and would meet us after breakfast en route to Coorg (in front of the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary).

I can never get to sleep soundly the night before the ride. The excitement of the trip and the ride kept me tossing and turning in bed and I finally jumped out of bed at 4am.

My RJay's tailbag was already packed with clothes and necessities including the comprehensive first aid kit that i religiously carry with me on each ride, no matter how short.

A quick shower and i got dressed. Geared up with my jacket, knee guards and gloves, strapped the tailbag to the bike and I was off.

Picked up Sunny and rajiv from empire and we headed to the meeting point.

After a quick round of hi's and coffee and riding rules we headed to the NICE road.

It was fun to ride on the NICE road with almost everyone riding WOT. In just a matter of few minutes we reached the exit to Mysore road.

We stopped at the Mc Donalds outlet and some of us stuck to the south indian breakfast comprising of poori's, vada's, idli's and dosa's while few others scurried away to munch on burgers and fries.

Tummies full we headed on and met Karthik at the bird sanctuary. He was excited to see us (he must have got bored waiting for us as there were no birds in sight ) and quick hi's later we were off to Coorg.

The road upto the Hunsur highway was bad and we were bumped up almost every minute or more. Just as out butts started to complain, we entered the highway and blasted all the way to the turn off point to Nagarhole forest.

Another 40kms of butt breaking, organ displacing ride and we finally reached the homestay.

All of us were tired and we ate a hearty lunch comprising of Pandi curry (pork curry) cooked to perfection in coorgi style, followed by awesome chicken curry and soft rice roti's and much more.

Lunch done and tummy full again we settled to watch the finals of the World Cup. The match was boring in the start and we were tired and all of us except for a few ended up in deep sleep. Heavy lunch was the main culprit here.

Woke up a few hours later, and tea, cakes, coffee, cookies were ready. The every hungry group pigged out () on the snacks and finally we settled down for chit chat with beers being washed down.

The next day we headed out sightseeing. We planned to leave at 7am. Praveen and Vijay were up at 5am and were going shutter crazy in the fields nearby.

By the time we all awoke and had breakfast, showered and were ready to sight-see it was past 11 am.

We decided to head to the Dubare Elephant camp and then to the Tibetan Monsatry at Kushalnagar. I rode pillion on my ninja and it going to be regretful for the rest of the two days.

The seat so hard and the roads almost non existent my butt became numb and sore. I could feel my butt bones thru the seat and on the way back sat on my hands for added cushioning.

We were supposed to be back for lunch by 3pm but reached very late. Poor Reggie was waiting for us. Bad decision. We had already stopped for Beef Momos at Kushalnagar. So lunch was called off much to the displeasure of Reggie.

We reached the homestay and voraciously devoured the cakes and biscuits. Alok and I headed to buy some honey but being sunday the shops were closed.

Returned to the homestay and after a long conversation over beers and jokes that can't be posted here, we again sat to gobble up dinner.

It was decided that one group left early at 5am since they wanted to make it home early. We the remaining decided to leave at 7am. History repeated itself and we left at 9.30 after yet another day's scrumptious breakfast.

We all reached home safe and i personally thank each and everyone for making this trip truly memorable. We should have many more such trips in the coming months (need to search for more jokes too).

This was a good weekend break and i am looking forward to many more such trips.

Thanks to all for enduring me and my jokes and once again, thanks for coming along and making this one of the best trip's i've ever been to.
