Ponmudi Hill Range REVISITED!
Hey guys,this is m first trip log ova here! The other day, 18-04-2011 to be presice, me and ma friends went on a small road trip to Ponmudi on My R15,friend's Karizma and a Ritz. For all those who dont know where that is, it is hill range 60km from Trivandrum, Kerala! The route which you will have to take to get there is Trivandrum->Amabalamukku->Perorkada->Nedumungad->Vithura->Kallar->Ponmudi!
Its a pretty good place for a short trip,but you gotta go there according to the weather.Going there on a sunny day for be rather boring,dull and tiring!Go there when its cold and when theres likely to be small rain. As for me, I got lucky!It was perfect timing for me! Left TVM at around 11am.The road upto Nedumungad is pretty messed up.But the road afterwards is really really good! And all the twists and turns along the way makes it a bikers paradise.But do be cautious as buses that come downhill take a huge swing at the various turnings!Sound the horn loud and without hesitation wherever possible!
Like I was saying, I got there at around 2pm.There was a slight drizzle along the way.So it was perfect for us! The journey was fun all the way upto the top! Theres a toll post near the top.Its 5 bucks for each bike and 10 bucks per person!
When we reached the top,it was pretty cloudy and cold!Just the way I hoped!We spent some time going around the the place!Theres a bunch of hills ova there!We got on top one one such hill and just relaxed for like 3 hours or so!It was really nice!Soon,at around 4,fog started appearing!In about 15mins,the entire place was covered it Fog and Mist!We literally couldn't see anything, which made it all the more worthwhile!
Had tons of clicking pics and just chatting up with friends!
On our way back down the hill,the roads were covered in fog!We had to turn on the lights and anticipate the turns.We were traveling at some 20kmph!Cautiously we drove down the road,and stopped at this place called Kallar for a break!There also we clicked some pics.The fog had cleared by the time we reached Kallar.The view during the drive down was Simply Breathtaking!
Ponmudi and Kallar are regular hang out spots for those in and around Trivandrum!If your into nature and love trekking, you should visit Ponmudi!And its a must for all Trivandum people! Take a look at the pics!Am sure you would wanna go there once your done seeing the pics!
