  • [Photo Feature]: Small trip to mysore.

This is my first long trip on my GSR. I chose Mysore as it was the nearest city to Bangalore with good time to spend around. I wanted to ride solo but then I decided to stay a night In Mysore and cover all the visiting places around. So I called up my friend as a pillion which would also help me in snaps:

Finally the day came (May 14/2011). My plan was to leave Bangalore by 12 afternun and reach mysore by 2.30pm. But the mysore road traffic caused delay for us. Finally crossed Gopalan arcade mall at 1.30pm

Took couple of breaks on the way , it was too hot that day in the afternun.

Did a top speed of 116kmph with a pillion rider while on the highway. The bangalore - mysore highway is always crowded on weekends so its pretty hard to reach top speeds unless the roads are clear. Finally Reached mysore at 4pm.

We decided to visit St. Philomena's church which was just about half KM from the right deviation on the highway. Spent about 15 mins there then quickly headed to find a lodge near palace.

From the lodge, straightly headed to KRS which is about 25kms from the city. We had to make a choice between KRS and palace as the palace lightings and KRS musical fountain timings overlap. We decide to go for KRS. The roads were bumpy in few places but overall quite okay. Returned back to the lodge after Enjoying the musical fountain. I was dead tired at this stage so had a big dinner for the end of the day.

    KRS Pics

Next day morning, we left at 8pm from the lodge.

First we visited Chamundi hills which is about 10 kms from the city. The Mysore city view from the hills is really spectacular.

From the hills, we headed to Mysore zoo and then to mysore palace. The horse ride service in mysore city is awesome. Once out from the palace, quickly we had lunch but It was already 4pm. Left the city by 4.30pm and reached bangalore at 7pm.

Thats it!! Covered 350KMS totally. All the credit goes to GS150R. Hoping to do a much longer trip soon

Nice one Keshav !! IMHO, you would have loved it more if you did a solo ride. Specially the Chamundi part !! Anyways, a first long ride is always special ! Great going !!

Yes bro, first ride is always special. I agree with you, riding with pillion is no fun. Surely i wont be doing long rides with pillion anymore

Hmm.. I did a similar Mys trip last month. I left Bangalore @ 6AM, reached Mysore at about 8. Visited my friends and relatives homes. Then to went to Chamundi and Ranganthittu on the return and reached back to Bangalore at 6PM. I covered a total of 390 kms !! Loved every meter of it !!

Nice trip man. Next time buy a cycle lock and use it to tie helmet to the bike when you are roaming. This way you won't have to carry it everywhere!

Nice short ride there, and good to know you visited so many places. Makes the ride even more memorable

But this makes me nostalgic. Reminds me of my first (& only) ever bike trip to Mysore last July. Here are some pics of the trip. The R15's mine, while the Ninjaaaaaah belongs to n_aditya..

                              good log and pictures dude.
You could have visited chamundi at night. If you thought the view was great during the day, the illuminated mysore city would have been an awesome sight at night. Hope you got your darshan.

I bet you noted that the zoo could have been better maintained. The croc pen and aviary in particular are a sad sight. Were the leopard cages fixed? Sad that the government doesnt fund it much.
