    Did you guys also visited Tarkeshwar in Lansdowne!!! Never been there but heard alot fm people who ride there. Some remote village, nice meadows and ancient temple its know for.

        Which one is right Lensdown or Lansdowne? I'm confused

            Beautiful destination this! Bring on the rest of the log.

            Lansdowne is definitely on my list when I happen to do a bike trip to North India.

                    Not much to write about Lansdowne as I just spent like 45 mins there. Crowded is the first thing that comes to mind. Had some breakfast and then head off to Tadkeshwar temple, which was 37 kms from Lansdowne. The serpentine road was in its best shape possible, narrow but darker than a black horse’s mane!

                    Some pics en-route:






                    As the road was pretty narrow, thus began the real test for the Apollo as well as the 90 kilo giant sitting on it. Focus was the key here as the heavy Greek god needed a steady hand on his leash in order to tame it the way it should be tamed. Concentrating on the road and only on the road, the two of us stopped a few kilometers short of Tadkeswar, riding continuously for around 30 kms in 25 mins. This was because neither of us stopped. The road was too damn beautiful for us to stop. Moreover I was getting accustomed to Apollo’s surge and his harsh grunt, I had rhythm going which I did not want to break. I was taking corners at good speed and steadily my confidence, on Apollo, was growing.

                    When we stopped, the map came out.



                    No, not for plotting distances but because an eagerness had imbibed me and I was curious to know where the road led, ahead of Tadkeshwar and whether, there was a connection to Delhi without turning back. The map read Lansdowne – Rakhnikhal – Kanda – Ramnagar – Moradabad – delhi. Bingo, I had a new road to explore!

                    More on that later, because baato baato mein Tadkeshawar temple aa gaya! We had to trek down for some 200m to the temple. Vikas initially declined, as he was genuinely not interested in trekking, he sulked, blew some curses, but eventually agreed to come along.













                    It was 2:30 when we came back from the temple and I had maggi at the little shack near the temple. We asked the owner of the route that I have aforementioned. He told me that the route was good, barring a few kilometers of kuccha road, which did not matter. The route, well, was long, really long as compared the same road back.

                    So I was like let’s hit it….chalo chalo chalo, lets go lets go lets go!!

                    “Nai yaar, aaj vaapis jaana” expressed Vikas, as he had to be home the same day, which was also the condition on which accompanied me.

                    “Abey pahunch jaaenge, sirf 100-150 kms ka fark padega, nai toh kahi ruk jaaenge” I exclaimed!

                    But “rukna” was not an option as, Vikas had to be back. And when a man’s gotta be back, well, a man’s gotta be back. So after a brief de-brief, we head back with Vikas in the lead. Tadkeshwar temple is a 5 kms diversion from the Lansdowne road. I had asked Vikas to swerve in whichever direction he deemed right and I shall follow, hoping he would turn left towards Rakhnikhal…………………

                    ……….

                    ……….

                    He turned right.

                    ……….

                    ……….

                    ……….

                    A couple of hours later we were in Kotdwar.

                    And a few more hours later, it was 11 pm, and I was beating the fatigue with some beer at Vikas’s haveli…

                        Wonderful Log Kurt.... It was really good to meet there. once while going towards Lansdowne and then when you were coming back... your CEEBER sure looks red and mean and killing......

                          Nice write up..... i just wish you did not call that a Monster coz it aint.... You should ride a Mc22 CBR with the Mc14E engine, 6 gears, CDI controlled, 40 HP... 0-100 in 5 secs.... now thats a proper bike...

                          I feel sorry for the bike for being all muddy and dude... errr take that saree guard off!!!

                              Thanks..I called it a monster, coz for me it is. I am upgrading from a 150cc, and I find a huge difference.

                              BTW, how do you define a proper bike?

                              Riding in rains, the bike is bound to get muddy. So don't feel sorry for it. The saree gaurd is there for a utility, which is that it would support my current set of saddle bags, from cramster. I would remove it when I get bags specifically for the 250R.

                                kurt--sorry forgot to ask -- do you have a pic of bike fully loaded with saddle bags & all.

                                For now I am using a bungee so that the huge gap between tyre & rear mudguard is offset by a little margin.

                                Though am searching for a solid fix.
