  • [Photo Feature]: My BLUE MONK on the rocks- 610 KMS journey on scooter.

I was too much disappointed as everyone are teasing me and trying to stop me for this trip by different excuses whole day before the day I want to leave, Thursday 29th March,2012. But I had decided to do it by any how. I prepared my MONK (Bajaj Super 150) for the ride and left home on time 8:00 AM in the morning.

My plan for the journey was something like this.
Ahmedabad-Bharuch-Dahej Port-Kabirvad-Baroda-Halol-Ahmedabad. Total 610 kms (as per Google maps.) ride in 2.5 days. Not too long for ride but when you are on scooter, some different criteria works.

As I decided, I started from my home and heading towards Baroda from Mehmdabad Highway as it have less traffic in morning time so I can rush a bit fast. I keep moving till Vasad come at 10:00. I stopped there for a tea and again started engine in 3-5 mins. The Sun is getting up and up and hence the heat is also increasing in atmosphere and in my body too. But I kept running till I crossed the entrance of Baroda city. I pulled myself for 3-4 kms more on NH-8 which joins Baroda to Bharuch, Surat and Mumbai. After that smashing 3 kms I tried to find a place to chill out but I couldn't find anything except a Dhaba. I stopped my MONK and gave rest to him as well my body too. As it was not so clean there I refused to have lunch and ate a wafer pack. when I saw my watch realize it was 11:30 and and I had to cover inside small town - Palej as my friend gave me a parcel for someone in that town. I rushed like hell and reached there by 12:15, gave parce to appropriated preson (who was actually physically challenged) and just kicked to come back on highway which was 3-3.5 kms far from the town core, that person plead me for lift to Karjan which I left few KMS back. I can't refuse his request and took him back there and while I started heading to Bharuch again I felt my MONK is having load in running. I cut down my speed and till then I realized that it was Piston-Jam. I was too anger on my mechanic who checked oil and other stuff and gave green signal to Monk for ride but it was meaningless then. When I calm down myself, had some water and opened engine cover and pt some oil-drops inside piston bore. Close spark-plug again and after 5 mins I tried to start and it was started. Till taht time POS, aka Prashant Soni gave me the place where I have to meet him. I headed to Bharuch and reached there near 2:15 at Honda showroom as me and POS decided to meet. We talked and discuss so many things about our different experiences of riding, accidents ad other stuffs with a full chilled glass of cold cofee and by that time a friend of POS came to took him. After that I too left for my cousin's home. Again started ride on 4:00 PM to Adani Energy Limited, Dahej Port approximately 55 kms southwards from Bharuch for my business work and came back by 7:00. It was very beautiful place to see hence it surrounded by so many industries. I was not able to take photographs there as it was restricted for it there. When I'm coming back to Bharuch I saw a Castrol BikePoint at the entrence of the town. I thought to change my engine oil from 20W40 to 20W50 as I faced Piston-Jam issue in the noon. I did it asap and came back to cousin's home. After havig almost 320 kms ride a day, it was compulsary to sleep and have rest enough. I did it asap after dinner.

The next day I visited Kabirvad, a very peacefull place surrounded by uncountabl Banyan trees on the shore of river Narmada. It was too cool place to hang out. I forgot my camera as its battery was low last night and I put it in charging but forget to take it at last moment. The place was 17 kms far from my cousin's home. We both enjoyed for an hour there and came back as I have to head back to Baroda also. I leave for my next run on 3:00 PM after having very light lunch. I supposed that I'll need to have more stops than yesterday as the day was quite hot with increase of 2 degree celcious compare to yestarday. But I did not need that much stops I thought to take... I literally stopped my scooter at a hotel just after Karjan Toll-Buth unnecessarily just for pass the time as I was too earlier to reach Baroda and the Baroda team would suppose to meet me at 7 in the evening. Took some cold-drink there and waited for some time to pass. In between time a person from Maharashtra came to me with his BMW X-1 hence he was surprised to see a scooter rider with full gears. He was so happy after know about xBhp and its motto of safety. We see off eaach other as he was going back to Maharashtra and I have to rush in opposite direction, to Baroda. Even after my too many tries to pass time, I reached to the destination before an hour. It was very new city for me so I've so many options to hang out but I prefered not to go anywhere and stayed outside the place of G2G, Cafe Chokolade, M-Cube mall, Alkapuri, Baroda. After my wait of 1 hour, Chanderkant Jangra arrived with the roar of his all new KTM Duke 200. I was too uncontrolled after hear its roar. After some introductory talk we get inside cafe and by the time Praveen Kumar joined us. We made some strategic plans to grow xBhp family and some ways to make people aware of safety while having a shake and some snacks. The owner of that cafe was to enthu to join the group and happy to know that we are ispired by Safe riding. After almost 2 hours we spent togather, I left for Halol, 40 KMs away from Baroda in West, near Pavagarh Mountain Range. I reached there by 10:00 to my uncle's place and slept asap.
Next day I left for my work at 8:00 AM in the morning and finished it by 11:00. Then came back to my uncle's home and made maggie for me and my 2 small cousins. We took it in lunch and I started back to Ahmedabad at 2:00 PM in the noon. It was too hot even more than last two days but I decided not to stop untill Vasad which was 60+ KMS far from Halol and over my own expectations I stopped after 70 KMS and left Vasad behind. Got Vitamin-Tea and headed back to city. After crossing Bareja, a small village located in the periphery of Ahmedabad, I found too much traffic of heavy vehicles and they are making hurdles for two wheelers. I cut off my speed and started riding just on 20-25 kmph. Those 20 kms are such a headach for me. I literally tired more than my entire ride. I felt relax when I entered in my area back and I was like : THANK GOD, FINALLY i'M AT HOME.
Journey was too good and I learned a lot from it. Next time BLUE MONK will head to Mumbai in single day. As I feel that I can ride it for 12 hours a day and If I can, it may be a record time on scooter ride. What say guys, are you willing to join me?...:-)

Seems like you have added pics from Facebook. First of all, change the privacy setting of your FB album to 'public'.

The right way to add images from FB is to right click the image and select "copy image address / url" or something similar (depending on browser). NOT the URL in the address bar when you see the image on screen.

Alternately, you could upload these photos to a public photo sharing website like photobucket / flickr. OR upload the photos right here on xBHP as attachments.

                nice man,upload the pics quickly.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Well done Siddhraj ! It's wonderful see you make a ride on your trusted
Blue Monk ! I guess very few people even think about doing a ride on a scooter these days. It's really commendable that you have not only done it but also enjoyed very much.
I know long rides on a scooter can be a very different experience, it's just a matter of enjoying it ! You remind me of a ride I did with my wife on our 1989 model Kinetic Honda scooter from Bangalore to Coorg and back in 2010.http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/1...ide-coorg.html.
It was a lot of fun of a different kind and also my introduction to xBhp

Wish you many more happy rides on your dear Blue Monk !!

                              Take Care & Ride Safe
