    Day 3

Why we need to visit Coimbatore and why we made this trip as Circuit road trip? , answer is we were going to meet One Automobile Passionate Man, Muthu Kumar Sir. The meeting schedule was properly planned one month before itself, all the conversation between me and Muthu Sir regarding schedule was happened via Xbhp Private Messages alone. Why I am telling this is, I got a quick response from him with PM itself. Moreover, He was so excited because Dr.Sir was also coming along with us.

One thing I should say here, Muthu Sir was supposed to attend one marriage ceremony which was his close friend’s daughter marriage held in kanyakumari. Unfortunately, ceremony date was a day before to the meeting day with us. Muthu Sir himself told this to me a week before the trip and also he said that can be managed. But at that time I was little bit concerned about that, because it could be a trouble for him since he won’t have time to take rest after journey. In the end, all went fine as we got a call from Muthu Sir during Day 3 morning saying that “Guys! I am back to Coimbatore, come to my Garage @ 9 AM”. A special thanks to MuthuSir for adjusting his time bandwidth for meeting us. After we had breakfast for the day, then without wasting single second we were on the way to reach Muthu Sir’s Garage. But I don’t know where the Garage situated exactly. So we were waiting in front of SNR College, Coimbatore which is near to Garage. Then I made a call to Muthu Sir but the Service provider says “the person you are calling is busy on another call”.

By that we got a hint like some new restoration job is in progress. After some time, MuthuSir picked up the call and sent his assistant Mr.Giri for guidance to reach his place. Finally we had reached Garage, the place which totally rewinds us from current year to 1980s era. And MuthuSir was welcoming us with lengthy smile. It was amazing when we all were in front of classic two wheels. We have discussed about journey with MuthuSir and after he started explaining about each bikes from the line up. Dr.Sir was much excited while seeing all steeds together. After all, we came to know that each restoration becomes one fascinating history.

Both Legends (Dr.Sir and MuthuSir) have discussed about all bikes and they both had a good conversation regarding all classic bikes.

    Twin Cylinder Triumph

    Military Green Norton

Full Garage view includes Explorer,BSA Bond, Rajdoot, Enfield, Jawa etc

MuthuSir provided us some sweets and we went on serious discussion about bike restoration. He explained the efforts which are needed for restoring the classic vehicles that includes car also. Then topic was extended to technical discussion about “push rod engine versus modern age OHC engine”. Again some serious discussion was happened regarding British bikes and Japanese bikes and then the Bottom line of the discussion is British bikes are known for its trouble but it is easy to recover that since it’s not complicated. But Japanese ones are trouble-free but once problem arise its difficult to resolve, the right word to mention the Japanese engine is Sophisticated. Being kids in biking, we had a good knowledge sharing on technical, thanks to Dr.Sir and MuthuSir.

To my surprise, MuthuSir also invited us to his home which is approximately 8 Kms away from Garage. Before reaching his home, what we thought was he is Passionate Man for Automobiles but that is partially correct, because we came to know other hobbies of MuthuSir as well when we have entered his home. In home, every showcase in hall was highlighted with all classic cameras. I never have seen that kind of amazing collection in my whole life. Ok, hall itself made us drool a lot, but that’s not the end, Interior room have another set of watch collection which is much valuable. Then MuthuSir clearly explained the motto behind the collection of Bikes, Cameras and watches, “He shows his interest more on the product which is responsible for a change in Generation or we can say Introduction of New Technologies”. All the things whether it is Bike, Camera or Watch, those are evident for his above statement.

Pictures taken in Muthu Sir Home:

Not only Garage has all the collection of Bikes, In front of his home also, some spaces were occupied by popular two wheels. Their job is simply welcoming the bike enthusiast visitor to his home and they did their job very well.
    Below are those beauties..

    Mofa and Kinetic Luna

SilverPlus, Chetak, Vijay, Peugeot, Cub, Roadking

After we left MuthuSir home around 2 AM, more importantly lunch time. In one good hotel, we along with MuthuSir had lunch which was sponsored by MuthuSir as well. So that’s the end of our Coimbatore visit and only pending was our journey to Hometown. The entire day in Coimbatore was well spent because of the hospitality provided by MuthuSir. Thanks for that SIR. Again we were on the track to reach Krishnagiri and we maintained cruising speed around 105 Kmph, meanwhile Thulashi has reached 135 Kmph top speed on his R15 after proper run-in. Finally we all reached home safely with big smile. So those three days was the unforgettable days I would say!..

      Trip track :

      Riders:

      Coimbatore

Day 1: I was getting rush to be at the spot but little late. Exactly as planned at 6 am, Dr. Sir called to inform that he arrived at the Meeting spot.

Kamesh (Harley Davidson) and Ashwin (TVS Apache) friend of Dr. Sir came along with us to have breakfast at Sulagiri McDonald and went back to Krishnagiri after conveying their wishes to our trip.

350 kms from Krishnagiri to reach Ooty via Mysore road, after crossing couple of tollgates at Mysore road we had an unfortunate situation with Thunderbird.
Problem: Oil was not pumped to the piston.

Because no one had one percent of second thought to cancel the trip
Decided to shuffle the bikes accordingly from then,

      Learning:

At last you have done it Tulsi (tdjbiking) ..here meant not about the Trip, about bringing out this wonderful thread
Initially when sateez contacted me,and asked whether i am available on that particular day at Coimbatore .to be honest I was excited more than you guys..particularly to mingle with both 25 plus my age & 25 less than my age, who had a common bikers blood running, so I ensured that I will be there to receive you guys sacrificing any kind of job!!
If you would have noticed the happenings (guys stumbled across your team on this trip)
See..this Harley man Kamesh was a known person to me...but he being a busy Marine Engineer...I lost contacts for a long period of time .
And about that Krishnagiri Mechanic Noor..he to a known person to me ( long time No see)
This is what it happens ,when we are in this kind of community (XBHP)
Even 'am much eager in participating this kind of Not so long distance Bike trips...few things come on my way restricting in doing this...( will come and post the reasons{??} later)
Plenty of things was running in my mind that day.....but i couldn't control my awe to acquire a "seiko pepsi divers watch" which our Doc sir was wearing on that day

Even I can see Harley Kamesh pointing his Wrist.Oops!! i cant afford a Breitling Chronograph now!!

My learning{wondering!!): " How come these 3 guys are so polite, disciplined, eager to know the good things ,even they are 25 years younger to me, which 'am trying to learn now by seeing the greats like Dr.Nanda kumar , who is exactly 25 years older than me
...hm!! might be because I share half of his name (KUMAR)

        Reasons..???
For sure not my health.... diabetic though!!
Time Boss time....As my bread winning duty and passion for bikes & cars, go hand & glove, but unless a true petrohead
takes up my work and relieves me...for sure things will get mess up!! ( it has happened plenty of occasions)

For past 3 years...I have almost out of my TOOL room activities, in order to concentrate more on automobiles !!
Hardly find no time to ride some of my favorite bikes even at weekends...honestly speaking, let me reveal the holiday period i have taken from riding>>
        1) JAWA 250 - may be year
        2)Lambretta - 1 year++
        3) BSA BB31 -- 1 year++
        4) Fury ---- 1+year
5)50cc Jawa, 60cc Jet, Bobby, Vespa -- more than 18months
        6) Aerial -- 1 year & so on...
Even find difficult(TIME factor) to start & idle run the machines at weekends
Even I committed for JAWA raid(2011), a fresh 1972 Jawa was restored exclusively for this raid , but due to some obvious reasons, I skipped the ride and was at least lucky enough to meet some of our Jawa Raid crew(Roaring riders) members at my garage itself!!

It this was the route they rode>>

Apart from all the above reason, feel really shame to admit that 'am pretty allergic to these two (Helmets & Gloves)...hm!! can understand this is pure psychological.....but still couldn't catch up with
Once was offered a ride in R1,this is how I went>

*When we both youngsters (Doc & me) seriously discussing about Norton 16H, where our" Speedster" Thulasi is starring at BSA M20, just trying to re-collect the memories ,How miss.Rani Mulhrjee & Kamal Hassan would have handled this Big bike in the movie " Hey Ram!!"

MuthuSir provided us some sweets and we went on serious discussion about bike restoration.
I swear there was a spicy stuff with that sweet, which Thulasi & Dinesh liked much..I guess
          A small correction here>>
          From left to right>
Enfield Silver Plus, Bajaj Cub (100cc), Peugot Sportif, Honda Cub C90, Yezdi Road king & WFM Rajdoot....and Doc has rested his Helmet on my RX's RH mirror

@ Thulashi : Dude riding 135 kmph other than TRACKS meant for sports purpose may lead to bad consequences , as you may be aware of..that to with luggage & stuff at Indian road conditions ( this includes all like, cattle, throttles and home made missiles etc..)
          Thank you guys!!
BTW, how come sateez missed these three just under my house staircase>

Sorry SIR..at first I thought like reason is Health issue. But anyway time is the reason right?. Being more active in touring is not always means that a person is Great biker. You are spending more time with wheels more than the Tourers. You are above all Sir.

Regarding allergic to Riding gears particularly helmet, I blame only the traffic rules of our Cotton city. Since there is no strict mandatory rule for wearing helmet. If you are in city which have that kind of compliance then for sure you will be get used to wear the helmet. In the end after getting used to it, you feel more comfortable with helmet than without helmet.

Nice learning there Sir!..Are you telling Women/Men factor from history or by seeing the above picture. Because for me, I am able to notice the Man's face reaction(YES,he is struggling and seems like bone shacking in action) by seeing the picture itself.
