  • Suggestions for short rides in & around B'lore

    Hi,

I want to visit some beautiful places in and around B'lore from where I can view mountains and so on.............. as I am planning this ride with my family want to know some places which are safe....had visited Krishnagiri with XBHP team (Independece day ride in 2009), Nandhi hills, Skandagiri & Thonnur lake and have made a note of some places as mentioned below....please let me know whether it's safe to visit these places with family and also suggest me some places with approx. kms
    • Krishnagiri dam: 90Kms
    • Lepakshi:122Kms
    • Yelagiri hills:160Kms
    • Big banayan tree:
    • Horseley hills:150Kms
    • Nandi hills:60Kms
    • Devaranya durga hill station:79Kms
    • Pearl valley:40Kms

MODERATORS: As per my knowledge as we don't have any such threads where we can find out places near to Bangalore for one day trip.....can we make this thread as a start up thread for listing of places near to Bangalore..with route maps to help other bikers...to visit places...... (Please delete this paragraph before approving)h
I don't know where the bike ends and I begin...If heaven doesn't allow bikes..I'll ride mine straight to hell.

From my stay in Bangalore during childhood days, I remember I visited these places, and all were nice:

    Big banayan tree:?
    Nandi hills:60Kms
    Mysore:
Vrindavan Gardens: (pardon my memory if anything is typed wrong, as this was about 12-15 years back)

i did a trip from hyderabad to bangalore to hogenekkal falls to bangalore in a day(wity family in a car). Hogenekkal falls are around 150kms. But the route i took was not safe for riders, though the rocks and pebbles cant do much harm to my car's grip :-)

The falls are mind blowing(Aishwarya starrer Raavan and Roja are some of the movies shot there). I would like to go again whenever time permits.. Also called the Indian Niagra Falls(i think, someone told me there).. The way back was a easy clean road.. GPS supported from a highway that links Tamil Nadu.

The closing time is around 5.30.. So be there atleast by 2 if you really want to enjoy.

Apart from my images attached here, more images can be found from google:

          you can consider
          lepakshi- 120kms
dabbaguli- 140kms (this requires quite off roading, but can be done a car though- the destination leads to a cauvery river which is completely unpolluted and can be used as a picnic spot)
          yellagiri hills- 160kms

There is a big backyard for Bangalore it is a huge forest area. BLR - Hosur - Rayakottai - Denkanikottai - Thali - Anchetty - Kanakapura - BLR. This region has lots of small and hidden but nice attractions and roads. Try it.

              Hi buddy!

I had tried to open a similar thread quite some time back but it got merged with some other thread and got buried.

In any case somehow I stumbled upon this website : 32 Must See Tourist Places around Bangalore - Bangalore Weekend Getaways and immediately bookmarked it. It is a very valuable resource if you (like me) are staying in Bangalore. Loads and loads of destination along with distance (your requirement) and other relevant information is listed.

I am sending you to the page meant for bangalore, but other people can also use this site by navigating from the home page and going to the city they are interested in.

Just to clarify I am in no way related to this site.

              Hope this helps.

there is the Machanabele Dam not sure it comes after the Big Banyan tree nice place for a quite Picnic.

Chitradurga Fort which is like 200 kms away is also a good optionbut you have to leave really early since the fort is a huge one and one would need time to explore.

and as rharish90 says the route he mentioned is an amazing and peaceful rond circuit ride.

Hello All, If you are planning a family outing then my suggestion will be Nandhi Hills for sure. As you know nowadays its totally commercialised and very good to go there early in the morning, to be specific before Sun-rise, the same applies at the sun set time. You won't believe, I'm in Bengaluru since 2010. Me and our bikers friend must have visited this place more than 25 times.
Life is a road, therefor I wander !!!

Doesn't the gates open only at 0630 ?
It used to be much better back in 2006-08. Feels like a mela in the weekend these days IMO.
