                5th Dec:
The ride from Nippani to Savantwadi was pretty bad with khaddas all over the place. We stopped somewhere inbetween to have redbull, and guess what we really were energetic, I started to ride over 90kmph on those curves, sometime later I came back to senses and slowed down. The mystic Amboli ghat was full of blind corners. Sumit almost left me and went on leaning and leaning till the end of the ghats. Savantwadi is pretty far away and the roads seemed to go on and on, so we got a bit bored. From Savantwadi we came on to NH17, and it was 60km to Panjim. Now these 60kms were the worst, fullto boring. I was literally cruising at 60kmph, the sudden heat and extreme humidity really made us take a beating. Around 10km before Panjim, we started the hunt for searching our hotel. The hotel was a free one that we had got through a friend in a lucky contest thing, so as it was free, it was almost out of the city. After getting tired and battered, we found the hotel. Hotel wala said no parking inside, gave him a hard shot to the brain and made him keep our bikes in the ample parking space (saala free hai to kuch bhi bolega ).

We hadn't slept the last night, so obviously I was sleepy. But Sumit was very much exicted to go out and check out the things. So we got up and ready at 7pm, set out to Calangute beach, checked out the beach, chicks n stuff. By then we were pretty hungry and Sumit wanted to have sea food (that was his main motto of visiting Goa ), so we went to baga beach and sat at one of the beach shack things for dinner. The food was amazing, the goan masala is something one should checkout. Next to us was a group of UK students(4 hot chicks n a guy), talking all kinds of shit. They had come down to India to research on Indian people and their lifestyle for their thesis, buying colorful things made in china was on their list. A sales person sold them cheap stuff for 100rs and later they saw the same stuff for less than half the price. We could see fire stunts and rope balancing shows on the beach which were intended for the firangs. All in all a good day, returned to our hotel room at around 1:30am.

                6th Dec:
Got up at 9am, ready at 10am, set out on the FZ to the beaches. The water was so clean, unlike our Mumbai ka beach waters which carry mumbai ka kachra. Firangs and Indians all in bikini and some nude too were to be seen in huge numbers. We got to walk a great distance from Calangute beach to Baga beach on the sea shore. After seeing the Jetski things in movies and all, we were exicted to ride them, and trust me its a very different feeling riding a bike on the waters, its scary as hell, the acceleration is not as linear as the road machines and the thing jumps like mad.. but it was fun. Then we went for Para-sailing, where we had to go in a motor-boat to the mid of the waters, change to another boat and do the para-gliding thing. While on the motor-boat, I was exited and had my cam in hand and suddenly came a huge wave of water and splashed on us and I was shocked to see my precious cam in water. Tried all types of things to dry it, but in vain, the lens stopped working.. rest is ok (gave it in service centre just now... hope it gets back in action soon). Post the cam incident I was very low and hence could not enjoy much.

At around 2:30pm we sat at a beach shack to have lunch. I had a fried rice and Sumit had tiger prawns(which looked yummy). Left Baga beach at around 4:30pm, went to Mapuca. The market is good, bought some Kaju n stuff, roamed aimlessly watching people around. At around 9pm, went back to Baga beach, and that lunch wala beach shack restaurant person had promised us entry in Tito's OR Mambos, so went to him and asked him, he called up somebody and said 2 guys are coming they are my friends and specially here to visit Tito's n Mambos on his recommendation. We went to Tito's and the bouncer/watchman outside asked us our names and in a couple of minutes a person came out and took us in . Did some timepass there, got bored, came out at 12am, went to Mambos, where entry was an issue, so went back to Tito's and talked to the same person who took us in, and then it was easy, he took us inside Mamos too. Played some stuff like snooker n all, did some ID. Came out at around 2am, went to a beach shack restaurant had dinner, we were tired like hell, chilly ride back to hotel. The temperatures really dropped past 11pm... it was very cold.

                7th Dec:
We had previously planned to start return journey on 8th morning, so got up late on Sunday morning (at 11am). We had to visit Aguada fort, Anjuna beach, Miramar beach and places around Panjim.
But suddenly Sumit started getting nervous about bunking job on Monday . Still he was like ok chalega. We started with Anjuna beach, which was crap, but in a small hotel we had lunch and the chicken masala was simply amazing. We ate more than enough, headed towards Aguada fort, which was again kind of boring(we were sleepy... we had our stomachs full ), took a couple of pics and left. Went back to Calangute beach to check out sunday croud, it was almost the same as saturday. Decided to visit Miramar beach in panjim, its nice, but no people around, donno why. There was a Honda Stunner ad campaining going on and we stopped by its side to have bhel-chat and guess what, people stopped looking at those stunning Stunners(around 10-12 bikes) and attracted towards our FZ . Those Honda guys were pretty sad about that, but then we did not do anything, they finished their show in themselves.

Panjim city is a place which really feels not-like-India, feels like you are in a european city, in UK or France kind of. The street lights, roads, the dividers, buildings, big hotels, sea sides, boards all make you feel exotic. Its a good place to visit, only issue is theres nothing much to do there. Around 7pm we came back to hotel to refresh ourselves and planned to head out for dinner at a different place, probably a costly restaurant (we saved a lot of money somehow :P).

Return ride story and a review on the bike performances (pros and cons) will be posted soon....

                Some pics:

I did ride the FZ in goa, but not on long streaches. By what I think, the engine runs pretty stress free even at 100+kmph. Sumit was happy with the seating and comfort on the bike. When we reached he said he can do another 500km just then... will ask him to post his reviews on the bike on long streaches.

Now to make some doubts clear....

when will a bike give you better mileage ?

                            1. Ride at around 40-60kmph in city with gear changes @ 4-5.5k rpm
                            2. Ride constantly at 100kmph on highway @ 8.5k rpm

when will the engine need more fuel ?

Btw... the bike returns around 35kmpl+ in city......

We did the full-tank-to-brim to next tank full-to-brim calculation, and I guess thats the only proper mileage checking solution.

Full ride report on FZ .... tomorrow...
