How did the Ninja behave? Did you change the tire to fit the terrain? Riding in Ladakh, especially Nubra valley on Ninja must be a special experience

the rest of the trip wondeful and you finish your
        trip without any trouble (superstitions).
        What's your experience ?

Waiting for the complete TLog mate.
A worse trouble was there for me somehow, post this bad start also.......watch for the log

I guess one way to look at the tough start you had, is that you use up your "quota" of "bad luck" for the trip on the first few days itself, so that the actual ride in the mountains is a breeezzeee....

        Bring it on!
It is a great way of looking at things.....my trip as a whole was a life time experience, i went through a worse & mean moment to this, further in my trip..will share..

Yeah i changed to a Ceat Vertigo 120/80 rear (to my belief...didnt notice it much somehow)

Only Rohtang needed it, rest all could have done better without it for Ninja particularly.

Yesterday evening, few friends caught me up for a treat, hence whole time got spent by, chatting about the trip.... Could not write more of my log. Will do today.

        regards

Friend, I had prepapred for all technical aspects, including a rear offroad tire. In my post earlier, better preparation i meant was for anti scratch remedies mainly...

Thanks again everyone.... In office after a long 22 days, will post next by evening at home.

                  Day 3 17th June

The day before was slightly nasty to both of us, and waking up to the sweet hangover of BP was seemingly a good start for the day . We had a nice sleep. I had 2 dreams of riding alone high in the mountains, but none to remember the moment I woke up. My palms were little sore to the first long ride. Switching off the AC, I rushed for bathroom.

Met with a biker Jatha to Hemkunt sahib the night before

I still was reluctant on changing the rear tire, the discussions had their time. On a shop in Karol Bagh, I took a noticeable time to final onto Ceat Vertigo 120/80. Test rode & found it okay. So because it was a no match to IRC, besides Ceat looked ugly under that tail. 220 gets a Michelin for front, but that turned out to be too thin. IRC 110/70 was fitted finally, the front tire that the Ninja has. Grabbed few other important stuff including puncture kit, we rushed for Gopinath market.

                  The Ceat Vertigo

We wanted to change to SAE 10W 50, but decided to do so in Srinagar or Leh.

Few moments at the Capital City

                  Day 4 18th June

Both of us had a few friends to attend, where one of mine, I was meeting after 8 years, hence this day went out in roaming around & meeting friends & relatives.

We were panicky not being on our bikes loaded, yet managed to sleep happily to a few drinks with our friends.

                  Day 5 19th June

                  Delhi to Ludhiana

                  Ready to roll

Leaving Delhi at such a relatively early time also did not go without Traffic & Signals. We could only speed after 40 mins of ride. Crossed Sonepat without a stop, and found our arses resting on chairs on a dhaba at Panipat for a delicious buttery breakfast of paranthas with curd. The guy at dhaba offered me some weed on seeing me smoking, to which I politely refused.

Post the breakfast, stretching my arms, I was wondering when the mountains would start to appear on our ways. The four lane was more than fine till extent, and we revved our bikes to their wish. Our target was to reach Pathankot by evening with a 2-3 hour stop at Ludhiana, a place special to both of us. Akshay & me both had a considerable time of our childhood spent in Ludhiana, years or time & duration varied though. And this was purely & highly coincidental yet sweet to its being true.

I was the unlucky guy, who could not locate the old house, where once I resided with my parents around 20 years ago, and the school, which taught me Chubby cheeks to the maths of a first board exam.

                  Day 6 20-June-12
                  Ludhiana to Jammu

Left Pathankot after the service, rode peacefully on the fine road to Nagrota, Jammu.

The excitement was up now, we were about to enter into valley. The curvy yet treacherous roads summoned us.

                  Later in the Log.......

I am a die hard bullet fan, and had been riding a 350 for last 6 years, this is first sports bike, and trust me it outdid every bike out there on North pullu.. Ninja can do anything..

Your inputs are solicited. Had not decided to put this up, but since no "Leh'd on a Ninja" thread is there, thought it would be help to other fellow riders.

                          Day 7 21-June-12

The night went out easily, and I dreamt of mountains again. We had decided to leave early, but this never happened.

Just after a few kms, the road was no straight & the first ascent started. It was breathtakingly beautiful al through, could not stop for pics as we were running short of time. These were the first set of curls on the road, which were noteworthy. And Ninja zipped ahead in awe. I must be doing 80-90 on all small curves with a not so good tire for such leans. We had a decent average speed for 2-3 hours.

The whole incident took place & got over in less than 2 seconds, the drag was not long, May God bless XBHP, I was wearing all my riding gear : Riding Jacket, Full Gauntlets, Helmet, Knee protector & high ankle boots.

And let me warn people here, had I not been wearing either of these, I must have rested in a hospital, and trip must have gone into trash.

It is certainly very hard to accept these facts, when your beloved

Next attraction was spotting Jawahar Tunnel, I had heard a lot about this, for those who are not aware, Jawahar Tunnel is a stretch of about 2.5 kms, a real tunnel build/dug through the mountains. It is actually a pair of tunnels, serves traffic to both directions. Both tunnels are separate from each other, with possibly no intersecting passage either.

Houses do not have a flat roof in Srinagar & around, or that for all hilly areas. And those hut styled roof tops look so beautiful. Another thing I noticed in particular, that houses there have a plenty of windows, & are built multi story only.

Believe me bro, riding gears help a lotttt. I also had a bad crash last week in Srinagar enroute Kargil. Thx to my gear, I was left unhurt but my baby had scratches on fairing and so also my right leg guard was bent fully...

Anyways, as u said... "Chote mote haadse to hote rehte hai"... Thought of same and continued with the ride. Here are 2 pics of my after crash...

I know why you crashed. Your rear tyre was still brand new. It had not been run in. So it did not have the adequate grip levels. Also it takes time to get used to a DP tire from a road tire.

Anyways so sorry to see your brand new ride all banged up.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
