Good Morning Nubra Valley...
It was chilly outside but the sun was bright and shiny. I woke up by 9 but Viraj was still sleeping. Woke him up but found that he still had high fever and was shivering
I decided that we will not ride further and return back to Leh and get him hospitalized first. Again the problem here was that we had to cross the mighty Khardungla to reach Leh and Viraj won't be able to ride. I told him that I'll find a 4x4 or a truck which can transport at least him and his bike to Leh. So the search started. Informed the restaurant owner Mr. Wangdu about the situation and he also tagged along with me and hopped on the road.
Most of the vehicles were coming fully loaded. Finally an truck stopped and he agreed to transport both the bikes. He already had stack of empty barrels and started re-arranging them. My bike was loaded 1st but there was no room left for Viraj's machine. My bike was unloaded and the search for another vehicle started. 2 hours passed by but still no luck
After few mins saw an 4x4 coming but it was also fully loaded with the military guys. They stopped over at the restaurant for breakfast. I asked the driver if there are any vehicles on the way which can drop us and our machines to Leh. His response was negative. He suggested that he can make space for Viraj besides him and his partner will ride the bike to Leh. There was an instant NO for this idea. Viraj told me that he is feeling better now and he can ride but I opposed him. One of the army guy advised that there's an Govt Hospital in Diskit and we can get good treatment over there. Diskit was around 40kms from Khardung village and roads were also in pretty good condition.
Viraj confirmed that he can ride and his fever also had gone. So we saddled up immediately, thanked the military guys and Mr. Wangdu and started the ride. Roads were in pretty good condition and yeah with lots of curves and hair pin bends. I saw Viraj cornering at few bends and I was happy to see the Biker back in action
We reached Diskit without taking any breaks and rushed 1st to the hospital. Got the blood and other tests done quickly. We were to get the reports in next 2 hours so we booked an room for us at Hotel Sand Dunes. It was just 200 bucks per head. Dumped our luggage and started roaming in search of some local restaurant. Gulped some aloo parathas and went back to hospital to collect the reports. Doctor told us that Viraj was suffering for AMS and should not ride for atleast 2 days. We then decided to hire a truck which can transport our bikes to Leh next day. Informed the hotel owner about the situation and he arranged a truck for us for 3.5k. We told the truck wala to come early morning by 6.
Now what to do ??? Viraj was back to normal so we decided to visit the Diskit Gompa. The Gompa is very beautiful. Well, let the pics do the talking...

After visit of the Gompa, we decided to visit the Ladakh Sand Dunes in Hunder as it was just 7kms away. On the way we came across some junior monks who came running towards us after seeing our bikes and then the fotoshoot started

After a quick fotoshoot, we started towards the sand dunes. We were very excited to see the dual humped camels for the 1st time and the Cold Desert too. Few pics of the Ladakh sand dunes...
