Well thats me.. Capturing some memories which are still so fresh
Even though it was freezing cold and with the wind it was unbearable at times.. I am sure all in our group had a gala time.. Afterall, we were out there to have fun
You will notice few of us (including me did not remove our helmets at times during the breaks ..
This stretch of only about 40 to 50 kms was covered within around 2 hours or so.. We stopped 'n' number of times to chit chat click and go! We split into pairs few times on this stretch.. regrouped again.. it was all part of the fun.. one overtook us and waited for us with the camera and vice versa! Browsing through the pictures just makes me wish to go back there again .. and this time with a lot of extra days in pockets

14 to go..

Picturesque..

Is that an Alien in red ?

Last few pictures to sum up an amazing Day 5 which was full with enthusiasm. Oh boy we had fun.. Paro is a 'must visit' place, for the peace of mind this place has to offer. The weather was simply great which complimented our day. Took a lot of breaks to capture breath taking views and memories which will last forever. Upon reaching Paro we headed towards the Airport; a narrow yet arrow straight road running parallel to the airstrip led us inside a residential colony where we were welcomed by yet another picturesque spot and we didn't let that chance go.. Posed and clicked
. Parked our bikes at a close by snack bar.. A mug full of tea was enjoyed to its last sip with some chips and snacks

Headed back after the tea break into the dark and reached Thimphu just in time to be amazed to see the energy the main street had to offer during the night. Lots of tourists were spotted. Cops were very friendly too. Guided us to accomodate our bikes at another parking space since this one below was full and we had 2 more bikes to park. A good number of shops were selling a bunch of variety of Souvenirs. I wanted to buy so much but due to lack of space I ended up buying myself a tshirt and a wooden wall hanging dragon
yes the peaceful dragon as they call it! Pulsar at its best !
After dinner we went for a small walk around.. A couple of pictures of the temple we captured during the walk:

Whats to follow ? Day 6 which marks the beginning of our return journey ! Some events to watch out for and of course the Sights we missed while going uphill from Jaigaon to Thimphu (due to night riding).. Stay tuned !Last edited by Varun.Lamba; 03-26-2013, 12:42 PM.

Day 6:
It was time to head back home and make a U turn in this short and sweet east ride. There is still a lot to be explored in the Land of the Peaceful Dragon.. So we decided to leave it for the next time when we have more days in hand
The journey had been more than what we had expected. A paradise in the way of Highways through Bihar leading us to Darjeeling via bad a%$ roads up hill testing our patience.. Zooming past the tea estates there on during the night to the worst road I ever rode upon.. Treated by the humble fun loving People of Bhutan and their clean, well organised country.. Saw a lot within just a handful of days.. Bunch of memories to carry.. Still afresh.. Have to jot it down before they turn grey
Here it is.. Day 6.. when we return from Thimphu back to the border.. The roads were the same but this time it was more fun with the Sun shinning bright and it was a pleasure, and an effortless ride downhill .. No sooner did we pass the Huge Gate, did we start zooming past the glorious tarmac inviting us.. We were in our usual formation in a single line.. We stuck to our side of the road and made no effort untouched to enjoy every mile we munched in there! The usual sight of 4X4s on the hills kept passing by.. Similarly I saw a black SUV at a distant parked at the corner.. Cops! Well well.. They signalled us to stop. I started calculating the cash I had
to pay the fines for obvious reasons that we were over speeding. To our surprise those cops were humble and softly requested us to go slowly and ride safely here on
What a jolly memory to remember ! We thanked them and moved on

Sights near the Royal University of Bhutan:

See the picture just below: simply WOW.. yeah.. It was more enjoyable on the corners hidden from the sunlight as you could suddenly feel the fresh cold air buzzing through for all the while your in the shadows.. Coupled the enjoyment. Well Ajay's music player pumped up the volume and he was leading the way now for us to follow and try our best to keep up with him.
Silent Hills..... A Sharp Corner... Sccreeeettcchhhhhhhhh Zzooooommm Dhaappp.. I wish I had a GoPro at that very instant! It was not Akshay Kumar... It was our very own Ajay.. nothing was wrong with the way he was riding.. A very soft dismissal you can say. To put it in words: Ajay Banked on his right the usual way for the sharp corner turn.. The bike slipped away leaving Ajay at the centre of the corner rotating on his back! Luck was on our side: No injuries.. Not even bruises.. No major damage to the bike.. Not many people saw/laughed
.. Best part was that it was an inner bend so when the bike slipped away it went to the hill side and banged onto the hill before hibernating into the 'horn mode' ! had it been the outer bend Ajay would have been a Pillion now on !
Our investigations revealed something which we all know.. but tend to ignore while enjoying so much! The tyres were fine.. rider was experienced.. riding style was fine.. But it did not suit the current condition.. these bends on the hills which are covered by trees are dangerous for a simple reason that they are wet ! and it is some sort of slippery juice which I think seeps out of those trees and makes the roads vulnerable to slips and falls !
Well, we learnt our lesson! From now on we were extra careful on similar corners.

Oh those hairpins !!

2's company

Then came the much awaited FOG patch! Like I mentioned earlier.. this patch of road is famous for being covered with thick dense FOG all the time. Hands on experience:

A pit stop just a few kms before we entered our motherland INDIA

Made a small visit to the Indian Consulate's office to return the sim card and thank him for his tremendous support to make this trip worth while
He called us every few hours to ask for updates and guide us on whatever we wanted. Well then soon we reached the 'other side' of the Border. Dumped our luggage into the same hotel as we stayed a couple of days ago.
It was time to celebrate! For some reason Ambar chose to stay back at the hotel, so Atul, Ajay and myself went out for a walk into Bhutan for a last time for fine dining and drinks to call it a day
