          Day-3: Ratnagiri to Panvel

          Route: Ratnagiri-Ganapatipule-Jaigad (ferry)-Dhopve(ferry)-Dapoli-Harnai-Dapoli-Khed-Kashedi-Pen-Panvel

Today, one of my to do list was just few kms ahead. Yes! carrying the bike on ferry, that too twice. Woke up around 6am, finished nature calls and was on road as quick as I can. Ratnagiri was barely crowded and directions to Ganapatipule wasn't a tough deal. MSH4 was a perfect start for the day, brushing through the beaches, so pleasant and so calm and the first stop has come very soon.

          A sample for your eyes

          Ganapatipule Temple

          Gaurd for my bike

Fun at beach, this guy was asking if I'm a press reporter

Time for breakfast, one of the happiest times of the day

I eat a lot, please don't mind. I don't mind even if you do so

Moved on from there and bike wasn't going above 50 kmph. No no, problem was with me, I wasn't accelerating it . One can't really zoom off when the way is full of luring beach views. Next target was Jaigad to catch the ferry which is once in an hour and I'm suppose to reach there by 11am. Slowly and steadily moved towards the target by enjoying the views.

You will be definitely tempted to stop

          Look at the fielders

Directions to Jaigad has got only one identity, keep approaching the Jindal power plant chimneys and take a right from the factory main gate, pass through a horrible road with 2 hairpin bends and you will be at the Ferry point. I did the above without any mistake but just missed the 11am ferry just by 2-3 minutes and now to have wait for another 1 hour. Damn!! What do I do?? I can see the ferry going just few meters away but I'm neither Ranbir's dupe to Jump from there and catch the ferry nor I know swimming, so I chose to sit quite. If I'm jobless all my concentration will be on eating, so emptied all the energy bars that I'm suppose to eat for next 2 days

          Jindal power plant

          Waiting

This is how I pass that boring time

          Finally

          First time on Ferry, Yes

          Bye Bye Jaigad

          smile please

Next is Dhopve which is again a ferry. I stopped after Jaigad for a pee break and a TT driver came to me curiously asking about my journey as he was watching me from Ganapatipule. After a little chit chat and asking for directions to Guhagar, he asked to follow him till some distance after which he will be taking a diversion. It's very easy to get lost on these roads, you cannot differentiate a Major state Highway and a narrow tarmac leading to internal villages. Sometimes the later looks better and smooth, hardly anybody to ask for directions and Gmaps wasn't loading to add up my confusion. Only indication here is, if you are going away from beaches you are on the wrong way. I did sense that but was too late, I was on the road which goes to Chiplun which is completely out of my route plan. Had no patience to turn back and do the bad roads again, hence kept moving to take the next available diversion to Guhagar. So a 50km journey turned out to be 80kms on the bad roads which took most of the daylight.

Waiting again at Dhopve for Ferry

Unlike Jaigad, ferry wasn't crowded from Dhopve end.

From Dabhol I wanted to stick to beaches and to MSH4 as much as possible. So, the result was going through unwanted detours of Kolthare and Ladhgar beach which further wasted my day time due to the road conditions. God!! Whatever I chose ending up as a mistake today.

          Kolthare beach

Hardly a nano can pass through

Found this statue in Middle of those lonely roads

A common view all along the way

Reached Dapoli very late than expected and moved towards Harnai. For my surprise, the road from Dapoli to Harnai was a like a runway, newly laid tarmac with sparse traffic, could I ask for more?? gave a full twist to the throttle and those 13kms went like a flash in my RVM's. Couldn't hold my hunger any more and also empty stomach makes me go crazy.

          Pomfret time

          Harnai - Suvarnadurg fort

Run Run, you got 10 secs

          Something 'Fishy'

          Colourful boats

          Anjerle in sight

It was almost 5pm and time for me to turn back to Dapoli. Yes, I had to because Kashedi ghats was a part of my plan. Quickly zipped through Dapoli, Furus, Khed and I was on NH17 by the time sun was all set to go down. So again NH17 at night for the 3rd time but this part of the road was smooth, marked well so didn't face any issues in doing 80's. A smooth curvy road after being tortured by the MSH4 was a real booster, had no signs of tiredness and in fact was in full Josh while riding in Kashedi.

Chain lubing and pressure check at Khed

          Kashedi at night

When Moon and stars were your companions for the night

It was full ripping session till Pen and from there on truck drivers play an important role to irritate you. Road was under construction and trucks were queued up all the way. Escaping through the narrow gaps, fighting against the dust, potholes and finally fuel indicator touches the last point as well. Both me and bike badly needed a stop, finally found a decent petrol pump just before Panvel, while tanking up the pump guy suggested that there is hotel right across the road and I can stay there if needed and go in the morning to avoid these trucks. Thanked him and decided to stay there for that night. Got a room for Rs.700 and time to end the day with a yummy Biriyani.

          Day-4: The Race coming soon...

Thanks Gurpreet , I tried on the map part but gmaps wasn't letting to plot a route over some of these ferry points. That's why I'm writing the route for every day.

                          Day-4: Panvel to Anand (Gujarat)

                          Route: Panvel-Thane-Vapi-Surat-Vadodara-Anand

This is the day where I had a lot of riding ahead and absolutely nothing to visit or see. It might be a boring day but I'm going to ride on one of the India's finest tarmac and that's the only hope I had whatsoever. Doing over 500kms with butter smooth roads isn't an exciting task, may be that's why I woke up around 7.30am and took more time to have breakfast than getting ready . Did minor checks on the bike, topped up engine oil and I'm all set to go around 9.30am. Slowly moved towards Thane and luckily there wasn't much traffic around today. Didn't face any difficulty in finding the roads to Ahmedabad, local traffic police helped me couple of times though soon I was on those super fast 6 lanes where 100kmph looks like a shame to the road, infrastructure at its best will be just a compliment.

Day has to definitely start with food

                          Bypassing Mumbai

How was the raod?? Look at the tyres

Sun was out showing all his power on this part of world and I was a poor fellow under the Nero sweating like a blacksmith. Light was so powerful that I had to wear goggles inside my tinted visor. Whatever hydrates I carried just weren't enough. First time after 4 days of the ride, I was feeling tired of doing constant speeds. It was around 12pm and I can see the signs of being in Gujarat, there was no official welcome board (did I miss??)and soon I was in Vapi.

Had stopped somewhere on the highway for lunch and it was a booster for me to meet Mr. Deven who was driving his Ford Ikon all the way from Bangalore to Surat to meet his friend. Being a traveller he was very keen to know the details of my trip and it feels so good to meet someone from your home land when you are alone so far. After a chit chat session and lunch I started to munch the miles. One thing I have observed is, after lunch the road was not at all boring to me, may be my mind was tuned to see triple digit speeds on odo.

'Food' is my favourite, no matter what type it is

                          Narmada River, best utilized.

Reached Vadodara by sunset and it was neck to neck traffic for almost 1 hour. Kept zipping through the gaps and all of sudden I was on empty 6 lanes again, was wondering how come so much of traffic when this road is so free and then I see a board written 'No U turn on the express highway!!' Oops!! had to go 5kms till the toll gate and people out there stopped me to saying 'bikes not allowed' and started giving me advices as what happens If I go. Told them I know the consequences but somehow missed the old highway to Ahmedabad. I was suppose to take a left turn before the Express-way starts but trucks had blocked me completely at that time. Riding back in the traffic was a pain again and lot of time was wasted, the old Vadodara-Ahmedabad highway is a two lane and not marked properly. Ahemdabad was still far away it was already 8.30pm. So, pushed till Anand and decided to end the day.

Was tired, so ordered dinner at the hotel itself.

Very tired of riding today, let me sleep, good night

Day 5: The Welding, coming very soon

If you are coming from Alibaug to Dapoli, you will get 2 ferries, one near Murud and one at Bagmandla.

The ones I took was on the way from Ratnagiri to Dapoli.
