As usual we planned to leave early morning, which gets late, as unplanned, and after a short breakfast of Hot puri-sabji + hot tea.

      the smiling old lady

3 bikes are warmed up with the charm of the colorful people of Rajasthan, we started our trip to Tannot- famous for the Tannot Matha Temple and Army War memorial.

The main attraction here was the War memorial. Army Presence is visible and there was so many Army vehicles moving in the area. After

spending some time talking to some of the Jawans there, we decided to move to Longewala, where the Battle was fought and the Brave

Punjab Regiment successfully captured the strategic position against one full battalion of Pak army in Dec 1971.

The road to Longewala is superb two lane, but the beauty of this road lies in its loneliness and the dunes and arid land surrounding.
I guess these pictures would substantiate my claim.

We clicked many pictures in between and was lucky to see the long line of sheep getting back to their village.
Here we found two Jawans heading to their watch tower, after a short chat with them we swift of to Longewala.

There is one Well poisoned by Pak army, a Memorial by Indian Army, & one Tank belong to Pak Army.

      pics from longewala

After visiting each of these places we decided to get back to Jaisalmeer and then head towards Sam Sand dunes before Sunset.

After tanking up the bikes and a light snacks break, we shot of to Sam without wasting much time. It was another great ride where I

      took the lead.
The setting sun was almost guiding us to SAM as the road was almost in west direction with superb twists and few up downs along the

Desert like terrain. It was another experience to ride like this. A few minutes before sunset we saw large crowd along the sand dunes

and a big number of camel safari vendors came to us for ride to the sand dunes. We actually wanted to see the Sam village, so headed to

the village, but after the guidance from a local guy from the village, we headed back to the sand dunes. I tried to take the bike into

the loose sand to check how tough it can be, and found myself begging for more traction, tire was digging deep into the sand embedding

inside. With external help I some how towed the bike out.
After this crazy experiment we tried to find a good tent stay, which was the choice of the majority, where as I wanted to camp out in

our own tent in the middle of the desert, which was a 3 men tent tied rigid on my saddle with Bunjee.

      sunset at dunes

Now it was time for negotiation & we found a sweet & decent deal, So enjoyed the Sunset at the Dunes, clicked a good number of pictures, and headed straight to the Desert Camp as it is called so.

We were promised of good entertainment in the form of the FOLK dance in the centre of the camp with a big circle and a stage for the musicians. Just as it got dark the music started,& we hurried out after getting fresh.
Starting with a hot tea, and light snacks, the show started. Two ladies dressed up and was dancing to the tune of the classical notes. As time went on music got more wild and finally ended up in the latest Bollywood tunes.

      folk dancer

      Naino se Band le... &
      Fevicol se ..
were repeated n number of times as requested by the spirited audience which include a bunch of Punjabi bahijan and a few other youngsters.
After some time the folk dancers started to pull in the ladies in the audience to join in & dance with them. This was a futile effort as no one was willing other than Anindita (i'll explain that later) who tried out a few steps.

Then it was time for the guys, the punjabi team was waiting for this and jumped in after some effort, shardul and Prashant also jumped in. POS was actually doing a good samba dance with a punjabi style. Shardul was dancing like Hakuna Matata...& i was clicking pics all time.

It was almost 11 when the music finally stopped a a few guys gathered around the camp fire in the middle of the ground. There we got many friends, our Haryanvi guy was a delight to chat with , as his unique slang brought a smile on our faces every time, and one sentence would never be short of ten Gaali.
There i got to know a group from Delhi along with Mr Gopinath, a Medical specialist in Cancer treatment, and this lead to the next days best experience. We decided to head on to the desert before the Sunrise and witness the moment.

I should thank Gopinath, one of the guys whom we met after dinner for waking me up at right time to see the Sunrise at Sam Sand dunes. Just as we were about to move, we saw another group , 2 guys and girls walking to the sand dunes. As we reached the end of road, we were convinced by the camel ride guy's offer, so got on top of the camel and slowly reached the main sand dunes, some where in the middle to see the sunrise.

we were quiet early , so had the opportunity to choose the best vantage point to shoot the Sun down with powerful camera's.

I was experimenting with my Gopro, trying for a good time-lapse shot, then shooting the silhouette of camel and few riders.

The sun finally came above the horizon, and it was allow yellow orange every where. At this time it was a simple idea that got into my mind, to ask the guys with us to Jump, so that I can get their silhouette pictures in background with sand also rising. Tried different shots, and I'm so thankful for the five guys, Azeera, Anindita, Rahul, Ashok & Gopinath for really giving me the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful sunrise.

After clicking many pics, we headed back to the road side to have a hot cup of tea. Refreshed with tea we discussed our further plans, profession and how lucky we were.

Then we slowly headed back to the tents. I headed straight to my tent to see both Pos and Shardul still sleeping, some how managed to wake POS up to get ready and hav breakfast as we dint have enough time. According to our plan, we would go around and see Jaisalmeer city as much as possible and head to Jodhpur after lunch.

The same was getting tough, after the breakfast session and feeding Shardul from our own plates, we finally got ready by around 10. Almost every other gang had left the place by then, so we headed straight to the Gadisagar lake. Lake is always a good place to start and to see many foreign beauties. Shardul had an urge to click pics with one such and I had to humbly ask the maiden. Pleased with the colored Topi worn by shardul, I mentioned he is the Surpunch of Limbi, a remote village on Gujarat, and i guess that pleased the damsel and she instantly agreed for a picture. ( forgot to post that- wud be uploaded soon)

Clicked a bunch of pics here and there, with the art forms, the different types of Turbans, colored umbrella's, Necklace's etc... I used to collect postcards from different places I visit, so here also didn’t forget to buy a few.
We headed straight to the great city fort to explore Largest living fort in the world.

Now here we faced a problem of luggage, so I volunteered to wait out at the city centre parking facility in front of the museum, so that other two guys can explore and reach back soon. I wanted to shoot the market place taking my own time. I had this wonderful opportunity to shoot the live market place, vivid with colors, beautiful people, foregin and India. Here also we bumped in to the guys i mentioned before, also the Cop we met first.
So I was not left alone and the earlier bunch gave me good company to tour the palace and Museum. It was a nice experience and a jovial crowd with me made me click more pics, and having toured the place, we headed straight to the market place to get the postcards here also.

After this we loaded the bike , mounted the cam and bid Adieu to the warm company we had and headed straight to Jodhpur. It was another 250 kms and it was almost 4pm when we reached outside the town.

First, we confirmed the direction, headed to the nearest bunk to top up the fuel tank, then checked the air pressure in tires at the nearest place. Then it was time to rip and Ripper- Prashant was unanimously voted to lead. After an hour long ripping, we almost reached Pokhran. The roads till Pokhran was super good and there was a diversion to the Ranuja mata ka mandir, near rampur.

            After that we crossed pokhran.

Roads after Pokhran was literally nonexistent, I would call it Pot hole way 1 aka PH 1. We were skillfully dropping our bikes from one pot hole to another with minimal vibrations reaching our asses. And doing the same after sunset became insanely tough and rigorous task. Prashant having the tinted visor took the Sweeping position making me the obvious choice to lead as shardul was not ready.

Again I some how maintained a good pace to cover the next 100 odd kms to reach Jodhpur and Roads started to improve once we almost reached Jodhpur. There I got the message from our friend Lionel, that he is already there.
With he help, we got a very good hotel to stay and thus the end of a superb day with a back breaking ride, and a spicy dinner.

We started a bit early on 27th Jan- which coincided with my birthday & hence making the ride very memorable for me. We started of to see the Jodhpur Meghnath Palace at first, exploring the same soon clicking many pics. Walking around and eavesdropping on the explanations given to the crowd by the guides which we never paid for. For those who had a eye for art/aesthetics, this palace is a bliss, superb carvings, Voluminous window shades, all carved in red/ brown stones. Breathtaking is the view from those Havelis and One mush admit the Kings of the Jodpur really had an Eye for beauty. Jodha Akhbar was said to be shot here.

After spending some quality time here we headed right to see the Jaswant thada - the resting place or tomb of the Kings of Jodhpur.

This is another beautiful work of art, where the complete structure is built in white stones and covered in a green garden with a small lake in the backdrop. People rush inside to see the place and hang around and click pics. Another must see place for any visitor. It was almost time for us to head back, so we shot off straight to the hotel to get our bikes loaded with the luggage. We were ready within 30 minutes and all guys headed straight to the petrol bunk to tank up the bikes. Before 12.45 we were all set to ride back with Prshant in Lead with his Red Hawk- CBR250R , Lionel on his Ninja 650, Myself at third with my own adriana -CBR250R & finally at tail Shardul on his R15.

It was getting late and we hopped back on the saddle to ride on. This time i had taken the lead as Prashant was having problem with the Tinted Visor of his Dakar. We maintained a healthy speed till Palanpur. There we stopped for a tea break. After a long wait, we couldn’t reach both Prashant and Shardul as they were riding & not picking calls. So we decided to move on after dropping a message about our position and moving on to meet up later near Kalol, at Vaishno Devi circle.
