          Thats lightening fast approval SKSy_Biker

Sunny and Navnish here's to continue

Recovering from the crash and Back pain (Damn the bowling machine at Forum Mall) Was time for a small ride if not a New year bash long ride.

Thought of a lazy ride through BR Hills and checkout KRS Dam at Mysore from the other side which Hydroxide had visited some time back. Left home by 6am.

This was the first pic of the trip. Quite a talent to topple a truck on four laner!

          Catching the sunrise

          Empty roads

Nothing like a hot cup of coffee in winter morning.

Get off the Foul laner at Maddur and off towards Kollegal.. Some bad roads

          Some good

          Farms ready for Harvest

With time in hand i explored some detours of the road. This on led to a farm house...

          The long narrow bridge enroute..

          Ragi Harvest in full flow..

Now this is wat is called Golden harvest

Cross Kollegal and take the lesser road towards BR Hills and this is it will for quite some distance!

Now Now... Just because it looks like that, are they actually trying to cut out a Golden Harvest Logo on the field?

At one of the villages i crossed, the road to a sharp right turn and a mud road going straight. Saw a board there Saying Amekere(Tortoise lake ) 10 KMs. Asked a tea shop guy as to whats there? he said "Saar there is nothing there only mud road, forest and no ppl at all" Now are those things to be avoided? so a lil to his amusement i took the mud road. Ride for ar few kms.

Wanted to explore more detours, but which way to go?

          Picked one

And ended up here in the dead end! Prolly they are harvesting Red mud for irrigation here?

Got back on the main track and continued...

Finding more of solitude and the quietness increases..

I pass by a rare isolated big hut. There asked a lad how far for the lake? he said like straight ahead for 4-5 kms. So i carried on. And in no time the path turned to this

Then after a KM into this!

It was getting eiry and my heart started beating harder and after around 1 more km the track went straight into the bush. I had even passed a pile of elephant dung.

By now my meter was down and i turned back. The lake must have been couple of KMs more. Yeah i was scared! Like a coward i turned back with out reaching the Tortoise lake. It was dead quite and all i could here was the ringing in my ears (thanks to the knock on my head in my crash last month). Looking back i cant believe i came a couple of kms of this me not being a very adventurous guy

The pile of elephant dung i had passed previously

Then took a sigh relief reaching the hut again...

And asked the the lad, as wats with the path to the lake going into bushes? Just then his father ran up to me with a sickle in his had and said. "The lad does not know any thing, was i here i would not have let u go ahead. Its dangerous ahead will all the wild animals roaming. When we go alone we carry a weapon like this. What would u have done had a elephant had come to u? "

With a gulp in the throat i asked him what other animals are around. he said elephant, deer, tiger!

Man! the stuff we do in ignorance But good to be back
btw this is PutBannappa who said the above

He told me of a short cut to get to the main road. As he told i followed this canal. and it was like this for a few kms, before i joined the main road..

Now back on to the plan....

          more to come

                              And here's to continue....

I get back onto the Road..

And i find the great termite mound

What engineering? Look how neat the fence goes through the mound

Now i enter the BR hills...

                              Nice smooth forest roads

                              Strange tree..

The skating biker?? Boy do i need to learn to give poses

Nice road through the forest reserve..

Now i am not allowed to explore this trail in to the forest (dunno i would have dared to even if allowed )

Well i could as well shoot tigers from there...

oops tigers dont fly! prolly i was shooting birds or monkeys!
ok ok, it was not loaded

Madhanna and Jhadayya will not allow you in! Now you know whose gun i borrowed. btw his pockets are full of bullets. They stand guard there day and night in shifts. Always hold a weapon to be safe from animals. Guess there was ammused to talk to a city slicker.

I get to the BRHills top point..

There is a temple way above.. too much crowd so came back.

                              From the view point

                              Thats a Holy car.

The anciant stone structures to host shops on the temple street in those good times. lay empty now

Then i take the deviation to K'Gudi which goes into deeper reserve.

There are paths like these all over meant for Safaries conduted by Forest department.

As i was puttering along slowly enjoying the nature, i saw a couple of canines ahead. They looked strange and yeah there were wild Red dogs(dhole).
Dhole Home Page: information on the Asiatic wild dog, its biology, research and conservation
I stopped and tried pulling out the cam in a hurry and they scampered off just after focus and before the click I walked some distance to see if they are still around but they had disappeared into bush. Damn i should have switched off my bike pilot lights
But atleast this wild creature posed for me..

Later came to know these things roam in groups of 30-40 and will kill with no mercy!

Guess when we go in groups cause enough disturbances that these animals stay away but when going slowly in less numbers we may catch these!

Then i take a stroll in the forest

This wild creature is keeping watch!

                              Trees drying up

Reach the Jungle Lodges & Resort and see this tamed elephant.

Some group staying in the expencive JLR(2.5k per head per day!)

                              And she bids me farewell..

And this guy was trying to sntach some thing from by bag. A self righteous fellow shoooed it away before i clicked...

                              curious onlookers..

                              View while decending the hills

                              forest ride continues..

                              Some macros:

                              The roads get bad

Loved this place. Complete quiteness and no 1 around for quite some time

Phew its lunch time now... more to come
