For many of you that frown on naked superbikes, do a rethink. The Zed was an absolute feast to ride and no body/wrist fatigue whatsoever. With some added padding on the seat, my bottom complained less this time (want to try out sheep skin-fur & my windshield next time). Anyway the following pictures will describe the whole ride experience.

      All ready to leave home at 7:00AM

      The smooth 6-lane Expressway out of Jeddah

      Gassing up. The red one is 95 Octane & Green one is 91 Octane

      Catching the morning sunrays

      Approaching Usfan town

      The dusty Usfan town is last part of civilization

      Starting approach to the mountain

      There it all begins

      The Dirt section was not easy with super slick tires

      At the half way turning point

      Warning is essential as on some curves when you reach the top, you suddenly see the road dipping sharply to the left or right

      An oasis with date palms

      They call it the Camel Rock, but to me it looks like something else...

      Thats the road cleaning/maintenance crew (my gratitude to these guys)

      Golden stretch for Jeddah bikers. With almost no traffic & road visible for miles ahead, you can top 300kph on this stretch. My personal best was 220

      The approach back to civilization

      All in a days work. Back home at 11:48AM with 343kms on the odo.

        @Haroon: How hot does the weather gets? Is is possible to ride all year round? I have no idea about the weather etc. of that part of the world, hence asking.

        But, the roads look really inviting. What are the kind of speed limits that these mouth watering roads have? I certainly hope NOT 60km/hr. or so!

        *Sigh*...If only my company would send me permanently to such a place!

          @aryan

          this country gets very very hot and humid . i live on the eastern side and in my part it gets 0 and minus in winters like right now. sometimes when i ride its soo cold there is noone on the streets and summers it s 50+ but i the best time would be daybreak

          haroon bhai lives on the western side where the weather is a better. more moderate climate but still gets hot. winters are very nice mid to low 20,s and summer most i guess around 45 degrees.

          @kernal - i suggest u make a liscence immediatly buy a work extend your work permit for a year or year and a half and when u leave for india u can take ur bike under TR scheme since the bike will be under ur name for one year. no tax or customs for you man
          seriously think about it. ur best chance of owning a sbk in india

          @haroon

          how is audiobility after wearing those ear plugs. cause i wanna hear my 2brothers screaming all the time hehehe. btw any luck on getting the ktm riders phone no

            @ Aryan. Like Kar1zma said, here in Jeddah the temp comes to min about 20 C and max about 45 C. I ride all year round irrespective of any condition. Also rode in rain once as I only get a friday to ride & dont want rain to spoil the ride. My normal friday ride is anything from 150 to 350kms. Ofcourse, I use riding gear suitable for such climate. My BMW Airflow jacket and Technic Aquavent pants do the job all year round. Only sometimes in winter in the mountains I have felt the need for a light inner liner to beat the chilly wind, but thats manageable. In Jeddah we have plenty of roads to enjoy riding. The ride along the corniche (seaside) itself stretches about 30-40kms and the tarmac is silky smooth all year round. Besides, Jeddah is more motorcycle friendly than other Saudi cities. The Starbucks Cafe on corniche is where we all meet and now that the climate is beautiful, every friday anything from 30-70 bikes meet up in the morning and then we all go as separate groups on our different routes.

            The speed limit on highways is 120kph and in most parts of the city the limit is surprisingly 80kph. Ofcourse, in general there are restrictions on many things here, but otherwise, the best thing is that we have no taxes of any kind, no parking fee on the roads or in open parking lots, no tolls for expressways and gas is dead cheap. Maybe the only country where we get free bottled mineral water with purchase of petrol (one 1.5 ltr bottle with every SR 10 of petrol purchased).

            @ Adil. With earplugs you can hear the traffic around you. Also not 2 but 'all the brothers'!! Its mainly to block the deafening wind noise.

                Yes, lets say 'by popular demand the stock exhaust stays'.

                            @ Aryan. At some bunks we have a choice of either mineral water or tissue box for every SR 10 of 95 Octane petrol purchased.

                            @ MavericK46. The exhaust was one of the attractions for me to buy the Zed.

                            @ rpmboy & bestofrivals. Thanks

                            Thanks to all for the compliments on the flag. However, it was a long story as last month I & my wife went to many retail/wholsale stationery & novelty shops on Avenue Road in Bangalore asking for a flag sticker and they all said its too early for Republic day!!! I said god dammit, why should I wait for Republic/Independence day for the flag, cant I celebrate being an Indian all 365 days of the year? It was really sad and then I decided to go to a sticker cutting shop and make my own flag. I had a similar experience many months back when I wanted a flag for my BMW. Then also I had to make it. Here is the pic of that flag on the sidecase.
