All this started at 28th May 2013.. afternoon 1:30pm.... Infront of the mirror.... "Sagar what have you made yourself, this is not worth it... so lets go for a trip"... wanted a partner with me... suddenly came to my mind sandy took a new avy 220... why not talk to him... called sandy up.. 1st thing came from his mouth.. sure.... he asked if I have thought about any place to visit... I had heard about a small hill station named yellagiri around 200 km from chennai... so informed sandy about the same... we decided to meet in office and talk about it....

7:00pm reached office... first word came out from my mouth after I meet sandy was Yellagiri... so both of started some googling... checked with friends and colleagues.... they told it was nice hill station... I belong from DARJEELING {The Topmost Hillstation in the world}... so you can imagine chennai heat and pollution... Instantly we made the plan... we were getting week offs on saturday and sunday for the past 4 weeks.. so we planned it on saturday the 1st of June 2013... Both of us were so happy.. I was thinking atlast a bike trip.. nearly 450km.. it will be very exciting...

30 May 2013 Thursday.... Just before logging out... I received a mail... The next week schedule... I didn't bother to open it even... I went to Sandy's workstation... His face was red.. I asked him what happened... he just pointed towards the email... and guess what our shifts and off's both were change...I got the shift from 6:30 pm to 3:30 am and his starts from 3:30 am to 12:30 pm... I gues that's what is called fate... Trust me it was pathetic...

11 June 2013... this time we planned it accordingly.. first thing we planned is to take 2 days off and 1 day leave together {1st, 2nd and 3rd of july}... I spoke to Boss and he approved for both of us.... and trust me that was the biggest relief for us...

So everything set and we had to fix the place and who all is coming... so asked a few colleagues and friends.. everyone said yes... so now we thought total of 4 bikes... it will be awesome... so now to fix the destination.. sandy suggested Yellagiri... one if the friend said ... no it's not a nice place.. so I had heard about yercaud too... so suggested yercaud... but the same guy said it was around 350 km and also mentioned "___ phat jayegi".. now what to do did a bit of research on XBHP {thanks to XBHP the trip was a success} and found out a place named kolli hills... so we fixed kolli hills as our destination... the best attraction about this place was, Guess what!!!! yes you are thinking right.. 70 hairpin bends... checked the google map out... it was awsome.. check it out how it looks...

July 1st 2013... I gave my bike for service at Jai bajaj adyar.... I had some issues with the rear wheel break disc... so changed the disk pad and did an entire service... there is a big reason why I mentioned this... you will get to know about it later.....

AND HERE COMES THE DAY BOTH OF US EAGERLY WAITED FOR... IT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL LIFE AHEAD OF THE TRIP.....

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

2nd July 2013 Tuesday.. Morning SHARP 2:30 am I woke up.. u wouldn't beileve without any alarm... {OHHH MYYYY GODDDD ME WITHOUT ALARM??? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE}. Is that me??? I guess that what passion means... so packed my bag... took bath... and suddenly my wife Pooja say's she want's to come for the trip [sorry forgot to mention I'm married for past 2 yrs]...

So called up Sandy and informed the him the same.... As Pooja works our same office... Sandy knows her very well... Sandy was happy with it {why should'n he be happy, he found another person who can pull my legs} as well as the other three so called friends didn't turn up.. and to be frank we were not expecting much from them... so I confirmed with pooja again, if she was really sure about coming for the trip as it was around 900 km in 2 days and not to mention she was also a Asthma patient... I asked her twice... but you know girls she said that " I'm a wife of a biker and I can do whatever other wife's can't"... so got her lagguage packed... and you won't imagine I was taking a small sack bag... now I had to take a large sack... So I guess that's what happen when you are married.. but I thing I have to mention that my wife is very supportive.. this is for you Pooja :-

    The Beast and The Beacon....
    The Beast and The Beacon....

We started sharp at 4:00 just as we planned... I was leading sandy as this was his first long ride... and he was ok with it as he was aware that I had been on long rides previously and had the experience for the same. we started a little slow at 60 to 70 kmph as I knew that sandy was a new rider and his bike is relatively new... we rode around 50 km... meanwhile Pooja said that she want's to have some tea... I thought that we already drove 50 km so after taking the break we can speed up a little bit.... so signed sandy to stop at a nearby tea at Irungunrapalli... we took a break for 15 mins and as always sandy the photographer started his work... here are some...

We started back to rule the roads...

“Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.” – Mark Jenkins

We rode along side by side.... One thing I have to mention NH 45, its really awesome.. I loved riding on it.. I started to throttle.... within glimpse seconds I reached 127 kmph.... that's my BEAST.. simply love it... suddenly a I saw in the side mirror sandy was no where in the picture.. so slowed down a little.. still he was not there.. had to stop for him for 5 mins... and dere he comes.. he was pissed off with me.. now we decided that we will ride somewhere between 90 to 100 kmph.. as his avy was not going beyond that.. so we crossed 170 km.. my tummy was feeling a little... so asked Pooja if she was hungry as it was already 7:45 am... she was also hungry.. so indicated sandy for breakfast.. he gave a nod.. "actually the secret between our friendship is we have very good understanding between each other".

So started the hunt for searching some roadside dhaba... but I guess I forgot I was in Tamil Nadu. stopped by 5 dhabas but as usual no luck. none of them were open... so we decided to drive till Ulundurpet... After crossing 10 km we found a dhaba " Arya Bhavan".. so we stopped thinking about either IDLY or DOSA.. that's what you will get at this time.... trust me I was tired of having IDLY's. so with not so cheerful mind entered the dhaba. as usuall ordered 4 IDLY's for each... to my surprise it was so soft.. and the sambhar and the coconut chatni was so delicious. Have to quote this "best ever IDLY I had in Tamil Nadu". Then suddenly came to my mind about Rocky who once said that " If you want to have the best South Indian go out of Chennai and have it.. you will get the best food available and you will love it". Please visit this dhaba. They cook awesome food... here are a few snaps...

We had a break for 20mins... started again to wander... we decided to throttle as much as possible as it was getting late.. we reached Ulundurpet at around 10:00am... still 192km to go... so we thought he will reach Kolli Hills by 1:00 pm.. So we throttled hard.. suddenly I checked the speed-meter it was showing 137 kmph... still no big vibration on the bike... mind you this was the highest speed ever I rode bike in 11 months {pervious best was 125 kmph on ECR while going to pondy}... Suddenly a voice came from behind... Sagar SLOW DOWN... It was Pooja.. so had to slow down {Wife is always right}.... Love my beast... I could have crossed 140 khmp easily..... so slowed down to 110 kmph... {NH45 ROCKS}... suddenly came a thought in my mind "Why not try a ride at the another beast avy 220. so asked sandy to exchange the bike. instant reaction. YESSSSSSS...... So rode the criuser... liked it in terms of comfort.... so rode it for around 50 kmph..

Meanwhile sandy said that my beast was pushing back... I was very tensed... so instantly went back to my beast.. tired to throttle so it was not going more than 80 kmph with full throttle and it was pushing... I was daammm scared... I was thought "Yesrterday I gave my bike for service, what happened now". informed sandy.. he suggested to check the tyre pressure... so luckly there was a tyre repair shop just beside we stopped. so checked the tyre pressue.. was absolutely correct [28 - front and 32 back].... so was even more tensed... I was so scared that I can't even explain in words... wierd things came to my mind... I thought we will have to end the journey here and the most worst 1 was "I will have to leave the beast here". I was sepaking to my beast, " you never let me down in last 1 yr, please don't let me down today".... Pooja and sandy were laughing at me as I was speaking to a bike... so we started back slowly... still the same... I informed sandy that I would have to take it to a technician... sandy said that the engine might have got hot because I was riding very fast... he said that Attur was in 2 km's distance and we will stop there was half an hour to give the bike some rest. I was not satisfied with the answer as I knew something was really wrong with the beast... so rode till attur in 50 kmph... so sandy started looking for a shop to eat something as it was already 12:00 pm. but in mind still I had the beast and his problems...

I was literally praying like a small kid " God Please Please get a good garage in sight". And I turned my head towards right side... can you imagine what I saw???? Yes, I was a Bajaj service centre and showroom.. I was feeling like I was on the top of the world... I was so happy... I indicated sandy to stop and enter the sercive centre... I was still so scared. I was feeling like what will happen.. will they help me.. Is the issue very big... I asked sandy to speak to them as he knows tamil and speak very well.... he told the problem.. the technician said " if it is engine issue he will try fixing it and electrical issue we need to go to a SALEM 80 km from attur and it was in the opposite direction of our destination... I looked towards the beast and just told the three magical word... I Love You a lot...". the mechanic examined the bike and told it was an issue with the airfilter.. so I asked him to open the airfilter and check. he found out this...

    The packet which was stuck in my airfilter {Courtesy to Jai Bajaj Adyar}

This plastic cover should have been the cover for the disc pad instead it became a cover for the air ducking vent.. this is why I had mentioned above about Jai Bajaj Adyar.... he fixed it within 20 mins of time. after that he opened engine cover and found out loads of dirt. so he cleaned it... checked the engine oil level... took the bike for a ride.. came back... and when his mouth opened and the golden words came out from his mouth, " Sir bike Ok". I was so happy. I felt to kiss him, but then controlled my emotions. gave him 100 bucks extra.. he was very happy....

So we started the journey back.... while crossing attur for 5 km it was total traffic. so I was riding at 40 to 50kmph. so the city went by... then came the highway... I held my breathe and started to throttle... within minutes I reached 100 kmph.... my beast is back to conquer the roads.... I was happy.... we rode for about 70 kms in trot at about 100 kmph... and at around 2 'o' clock we are reached the starting gate of kolli mallai hills.. sandy said that let's stop for 15 mins as we were going to start at hills... so we took a break... and what else he started his favourite hobby "Photography".
