i was on my karizma, my friend was on his passion.
at ddun, we stayed at doon school. a very beautiful campus.
the next day we pushed off towards mussoorie, we stayed around 15-20 mins in mussoorie, had a bun omlette and some tea at a dhaba and pushed off towards dhanolti. which i think is roughly 30 kms from mussoorie. the road was quite desereted and on the way we caught quite a few good glimpses of a range of snow peaks ... gangotri, yamunotri etc. if i am not mistaken ... this road used to earlier be a part of the old indo-tibet trade route and one can see old buildings belonging to that period. on the way to dhanolti, i also saw snow lying on the road, a first for me. as i have never seen snow from up close.
after dhanolti, we headed back towards ddun, thru raipur. for around 10-15 kms the road was ok. it was completely desereted. just the two of us on our bikes. it was amazing. far from the madding crowd. after this, the bad patch started ... no tar on the road, just stones and sand ... this went on for another 6-70 km. the hills were completely deserted. no electricity lines, no telephone lines. very few ppl. if one has a serious mech break down here. god help you. this route it totally not recommeneded. there are no sites to see. if you just wanna get away from ppl and do off road riding, then go ahead. other wise no point. it's better to go back to mussoorie and from there ddun. the roads are good.
we retured to ddun that day at 5-6 i think. very tired and very shaken. but we'd had good fun.
both the bikes stood up well to the roads. the passion really surpirsed me... actually it has a very good frame. twin down tube. thats what helped it make it thru.
all in all a 700 km round trip. pics coming soon. i feel lazy scanning them.
