PS: This Travelogue is packed with DESIRE, disappointment, EMOTIONS & ACHIEVEMENT.
It all started in 2008, after watching a Hindi flick “Heroes” starring Sohail Khan & Vatsal Seth. After watching them riding an avenger all the way to Punjab, Kashmir & Leh, I instantly made my decision to do this trip someday but due to lack of knowledge at that time I could not concentrate on this trip and got busy with initial struggle with my professional life till 2010.
In late 2010 I introduced to XBHP and I thank God for that day :-), I was more inclined towards cars till then. Meanwhile I did Nanital, Shimla Jaipur on cars & trains. I wrote my first travelogue on BCMT in December 2010.
Celebrated New Year 2011 in Shimla with friends and after few months one of my friends asked me to do Leh in June 2011 as his 2 office colleagues for this trip approached him.
I said Yes without any calculations and the preparations begin, mean while lots of reading on BCMT happened. We all 4 guys decided to leave Delhi at 4th June 2011 after postponing it for 5 days due to Delhi – Manali roads blocked.
But due to some official obligations I could not leave at 4th June, So I left alone and again postponed it to 14th June 2011. So now I am alone to do this trip, I coordinated with 2 college students coming from Mumbai in same dates but that also didn’t happened. We supposed to meet at Jammu on 15th and then proceed further.
So I left on 15th June 2011 at 2 a.m from Delhi, it was my first ever Bike trip and that too a longest one.
It was dark that time till I reached Ambala in Morning and encountered with heavy rain.
Took a stop for 2 hours at a Dhaba and then proceeded as rain took a breath.
I am in middle of Jallandhar - Jammu highway. I took a nap at roadside, woken up and got freshen up.
Started again but unfortunately due to lack of sleep in last 24 hours, I slept for friction of seconds and when I opened my eyes I was in a govt. hospital in Pathankot. I got to know that I rammed into a truck from front and its evening of 16th June, that means I was faint for 24 hours. Impact on truck was too hard, i was riding 50-60 kmph.
A local shopkeeper (Vijay Sayal Sahab) dropped me at hospital and been there whole night till my family came.
I got back home, I was faint for almost 3 days and on bed rest for 2 months.
I was unable to recognize if this is my bike
Everything I dreamed of has gone in veins. Luckily I survived and this chapter remained unfinished, mean while I got married and became a proud dad of a daughter, lots of life changing events happened but that feeling of not completing this trip is cursing me everyday. After my accident I Did Chandigarh, Nanital & Auli but the ultimate goal for me was Ladhak, so after coming from Auli in January 2013 there was enough momentum build for doing Ladhak this year.
Yes, after 2 years I decided to do this trip on the same day, time & on Same Bike (this is 5years old Yamaha FZ)
I asked 2 friends and they are ready, this time I included Spiti Valley as well, so I left Delhi at 15th June 2013 around 4 a.m. J
