DAY – 3
Manali – Keylong (115 Kms)
We left Manali around 10 a.m. As soon as we approached to Rohtang, beautiful sceneries I must say, snow covered mountains.
Heard alot about Rohtang pass but I fell it quite Ok if your bike is not feeling under powered. When we were about to reach top, My bike really disappointed me being underpowered. Full throttle but no luck, then I increased the idling at 2500 rpm, it helped a bit but still.
For a moment I thought it was the biggest mistake I took a 5-year-old bike but as soon as I approached top, I saw another FZ battling with the same problem.
Now going back to Manali and get some Jugaad done was threatening me because going back was easy but again I’ve to fight back to climb the pass.
Somehow I reached around top and Shahnawaz told me to remove Air Filter so I tried it.
Yes, it helped to reach top but still I was very unconfident to move further but after Rohtang it was downhill, so little relieved and confident.
Now we are moving towards Keylong, it start feeling that we approaching The Ladhak Region, Because very less people on road.
Took a pitstop at Koskar and moved further. In every 20-30 kms view is changing, I’ve been to Badrinath, nanital, Shimla but never seen such peace of Mountains.
Landslide before keylong
Filling petrol at Tandi
Entering Keylong
Found a decent room and parked our bikes.
After we reached I was so insecure to move forward without inspecting the bike by Mechanic. So searched for a Mechanic and fortunately it was 2-3 blocks away from our hotel.
He recommended a copper wire job for oil jet pump and did the same. Yes, Bike is responding so well now. He was a good Mechanic and he never want to let us go with half job done so he test rode the bike for 2-3 times and handed over the bike until he is satisfied.Last edited by ingeniousnut; 08-05-2013, 03:40 PM.All Day I dream About Touring on two wheels.

Re: Ladhak obsession
Day - 4
Keylong to Jispa (50 kms)
Woke up with not so good news, it was raining that means it must be snowing uphill at Baralacha La.
Approached towards Jispa and todays’s task was to reach Sarchu or Pang if we could make it.
Entered Jispa, roads were unexpectedly pretty good.
We reached Darcha and BRO has closed the roads because its snowing at Baralacha La and due to it. Massive traffic Jam from last 16 hours.
Now we have 2 options either we will wait here at Darcha or on a safer side we might go to Jispa/Keylong and find good room to stay at night because there was very less chances for opening the roads today.
So we got back to Jispa and Luckily a Mountaineering Leader agreed to accommodate all 3 of us at there closed bungalow but he has only sleeping bags with mats for night, we agreed because we don’t have any other options.
We took off saddle here.
We had something to eat and went to the river near our stay and we spent our day at gangs of river doing some random things :-)
